Boy, did it take me a long time to learn this lesson! If you’ve been in the network marketing industry as long as I have, and sponsored a decent amount of people, you might get the tendency to sit back and wait for your group to build your team for you.
HECK, I’ve been guilty of doing that myself (several different times). I call it “leaving the trenches and entering management mode.”
In most cases, when you do this your business will plateau and begin to decline.
I’ve also learned that people will not do what you tell them. They will do what YOU do.
If you have kids, I’m sure you can relate to his one.
That’s right, your MLM Team will do what you do!
It might be a hard pill for you to swallow, but it is the truth.
I’ve also learned that the speed of the leader is the speed of the team.
Find me a leader who is in the trenches; prospecting, showing the plan, and getting customers and I will show you a person who has a team that is doing the same thing (most of them anyway).
And show me a distributor who is sitting back waiting for his team to do something, and I will show you a person who has a team of people doing the same thing.
The bottom line is to never stop working your business.
Never stop prospecting. Never stop showing the plan. Never stop doing the things that made you successful to begin with.
And remember that no matter how many times you motivate and educate your group, they will ultimately end up doing what you are doing.
So, be a good example at all times and make sure that your behavior and actions are worth modeling! Would you want to have 100 people just like you on your team?
