Why I Joined Avon
I started network marketing way back in 2002. I’ve done pretty well in the industry, although I did struggle my first four or five years. I’ve never made millions, but it’s been a solid part-time income for me for many years. I spent many years promoting health and wellness companies. I’ve always been drawn to those types of companies. I’m not sure why.
First off, they have a powerful brand name. They’ve been around over 130-years. They are time-tested. More importantly, most people have a positive image about the company. No one thinks “scam” when you say the word Avon. Simply put, consumers TRUST the Avon name.
Next, Avon has products that people WANT to buy and at PRICES people can afford, even in a down economy. Even better, they have over 1,000 different products to choose from. Most MLM Companies have a limited selection of products, which are SO overpriced that no one (outside of the distributors) wants to buy them. Avon’s products are in demand, great quality and priced fairly.
Throw in their generous commission structure and you have a 1-2-3 winning combination. You can earn a great income just selling their products and/or by building your own team. My goal is to do both.
Top 30 Reasons to Sell Avon & Join Avon
I’d figured I would take a few hours and brainstorm as many good reasons as I could think of as to why you should sell Avon or join Avon. These reasons are my opinion and are listed in no particular order. Enjoy.
# 1 Make Extra Money
This is my number one reason to join Avon. In today’s world, everyone needs a side-hustle. Most working couples, with two incomes, are still struggling to make ends meet. Most people are living paycheck to paycheck and really NEED an extra $200 to $500 per month. Avon can help you do that. Whatever your financial goals are, Avon can help you get there!
# 2 Their Reputation
In the direct selling and network marketing industry I can’t think of ANY company with a better reputation than Avon. Their name is respected by everyone I’ve ever talked to. They have name brand recognition. Everyone knows their name and trusts them.
# 3 Product Selection
Avon carries over 1,000 different products to choose from. You can purchase everything from fragrances, beauty, cosmetics, skin care, clothing, jewelry, makeup and household items. They release a new catalog every two-weeks and they are always adding new products to the mix. This helps hold your customers’ interest and keeps them coming back for more. # 4 Price Point
Avon’s products are for the budget conscious person. This represents at least 95% of the U.S. population. Their high-quality products are priced at discount store prices. Most of their products are in the $5 to $10 range, something anyone can afford. Compare this to other direct sales companies where they are selling stuff similar to what you can find at Wal-Mart, but for ten times the price.
# 5 Recognition
Most people like to be recognized. I do. What about you? That being said, most people don’t get much recognition at work or at home. When you join Avon, you get recognized for everything you do, even the smallest of things. Some people might even sell Avon just for this reason alone.
# 5 Contests
If you’re competitive, like I am, you will love the contests that Avon puts on. Each year, they have several big contests. Every campaign (every two weeks) there is some type of contest going on, either by the company itself, or by someone in your upline support team. For example, I’m competing for the “Cruise Like a Boss” competition right now, in hopes of winning an all-expenses paid cruise for two in early 2018.
# 6 Community
Most people want to be part of something bigger than themselves. I know I do. When you join Avon, you are part of a huge community of like minded people. Some people might even think of Avon as a social club. For some, it might be. What’s better than spending time with other like-minded people who are friendly and encouraging?
# 7 Make New Friends
I’ll tell you this right now. If you are a single guy and you want to meet women, join Avon! No, it’s not a dating service, but most of the Avon reps are women. As a woman, if you’re looking to make new friends in your local community, sell Avon. You’ll meet plenty of like-minded people who might just become some of your closest friends.
# 8 Time-Tested Company
Another good reason to join Avon is that it is a time-tested company. Avon has been around for almost 130 YEARS now. It’s not going away anytime soon. They’ve stood the test of time and are one of the two largest direct selling companies in the world (right up there with Amway).
# 9 Catalogs
When it comes to merchandising, Avon has its act together. Their catalogs are amazing. The copywriting and photos are persuasive and powerful. Even better, they publish a new catalog every two-weeks. Best of all, you can buy catalogs at a very affordable price, normally between thirty and sixty cents each.
# 10 Have Fun
When you sell Avon, you should have fun. You get to mingle with other reps, meet new people (who might become customers) and be part of a community. There even are local and regional events you can attend. You can have parties with your team and customers. You can hang out with your Avon friends. Even as a guy, I think it’s a ton of fun.
# 11 No Risk
Most traditional businesses require you to invest tens of thousands of dollars AND a large TIME investment just to get started. Even with that big financial investment, most traditional businesses come with a high level of risk. Not so with Avon. It’s currently as little as $25 to get started. You can quit at any time you want without worrying about losing a large capital investment.
# 12 Free Website
When you join Avon, you get your own free website. Most network marketing companies charge you minimum $10 to $30 per month for this same feature. The Avon back office is extremely powerful. It comes with a Contact Manager, email program, training and your own free e-commerce website.
# 13 No Minimum Order
When you sell Avon, there is no minimum order. You can order as little as you want and keep your account active. If you are building a team, you must maintain certain sales requirements, but those requirements are very small.
# 14 No Auto-ship Requirement
Most network marketing companies want you to spend anywhere from $100 to $300 per month on auto-ship. Even worse, these other companies have products that are WAY overpriced. When you sell Avon, there is no auto-ship or monthly buying requirement. Buy whenever you want. You simply need to order at least once every 12-weeks to keep your account active.
# 15 Training
Avon has some great training. It all starts in your back office with Avon University. There are tons of videos and webinars about how to succeed with the business. There are normally local and regional events you can attend to sharpen your skills. You’ll also get sales and leadership training from your upline sales leader.
# 16 Product Discounts
Even if you don’t want to sell the products or recruit other Avon reps, you could join Avon and be a wholesale buyer. Depending upon how much you order each campaign, your shopper’s discount will be anywhere from twenty to fifty percent. If you simply want to save money on your own product orders, this is a great option.
# 17 No Territories
Most sales jobs have territories. In other words, you are limited to a specific geographical area. Not so with Avon. You can sell Avon or recruit Avon reps from any town or state in the country. Building locally is a great starting point, but there’s nothing like expanding into other states and other parts of the country. And, if you ever decide to relocate you don’t have to give up your customers.
# 18 Free Blog
In addition to the free website you get when you join Avon, you also get a free blog. This allows you to post frequent updates, tips, and training. Your blog posts can get indexed by the search engines and show up in the search results. While I prefer to have my own independent blog, this feature is a great option for most new Avon reps. There is a short learning curve, and it’s a great way to get more exposure for your Avon business.
# 19 Make Your Own Work Schedule
I sleep in every day until almost 10 am. I am a night owl by nature. Most people wake up and go to bed at a certain time, based upon their day job. When you join Avon, you become your own boss and you can create your own work schedule. You have to work hard to succeed, but you can choose which hours of the day you want to work to grow your Avon business.
# 20 Be Your Own Boss
Not everyone is cut out to work for someone else. Some folks love having a boss and salary. I respect that. Personally, I would rather be in prison than have a day job and boss. Maybe you can relate, maybe not. That being said, there is nothing like calling your own shots, making your own work schedule and being the Captain of your own ship. It’s not for everyone, but if you’re wired like I am, you know there is nothing like working for yourself.
# 21 Merit Based Pay
Not everyone is a fan of merit-based pay. Many people prefer the comfort of a salary and steady paycheck. That being said, most high achievers would rather be paid on commission. When you sell Avon, there are no earning caps. You can make as much, or as little, money as you want. It’s all up to you. The sky really is the limit.
# 22 Residual Income
Everyone needs residual income. In your day job or traditional business, you have LINEAR income. This means you must keep trading hours for dollars if you want to keep getting paid. Stop working and your income stops. With residual income, you do the work one time and it keeps paying you month after month. When you sell Avon, you earn residual income by getting repeat orders and by building a team of independent reps.
# 23 Build an Online Business
While most people think of Avon as a door-to-door business, it doesn’t have to be that way. You can build your business 100% online if you want to. Lots of Avon reps do that. You can grow your business on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, or even on your own blog like I do. If you chose to follow this approach, you really can live a laptop lifestyle.
# 24 Mentoring Bonuses
The only way to succeed with Avon is to serve others. While you are serving and mentoring your Avon team members, you can earn amazing mentoring bonuses (up to $10,000 per person you mentor). The more people you help the more money you make. How awesome is that?
# 25 Rank Advancement Bonuses
The Avon rank advancement bonuses are out of this world. You can earn anywhere from $500 to $20,000 as rank advancement bonuses. This is in addition to your retail profits and team overrides.

Although I am not a CPA or tax professional, I can tell you that the tax benefits of owning your own home-based businesses are VERY lucrative. Unlike employees, you can write off part of your lifestyle as you build your own Avon business. Of course, seek the advice of a licensed tax professional to learn what is and what isn’t deductible.
# 28 Leveraged Income
When you join Avon, you have the opportunity to earn a leveraged income. If you have a job, you can’t sell it. Plus, your efforts are tied to you alone. When you sell Avon, you can create a team of independent Avon reps, just like an insurance broker or real estate broker does. You can earn overrides and commissions off your entire team’s sales. You get paid a little bit from each person’s efforts. As your Avon team and sales grow, your income increases. If you work hard and build a big team with Avon, you can create a large, leveraged income.
# 29 Free Contact Manager
When you sell Avon, you get a powerful back office with an amazing contact manager. It has prewritten emails and templates you can use to communicate with prospects, customers and team-members. This makes stay in touch a breeze.
# 30 Equal Opportunity
It doesn’t matter who you know, what you look like or what your background is. You have unlimited, equal opportunity in Avon. There are no office politics or butt kissing. Your age, race and religion are irrelevant. All you need to succeed is a big goal, a solid game-plan and some hustle.
