Today, I’m going to share some of my favorite Wallace Wattles quotes.
I’m a BIG fan of Wallace Wattles. I love his book “The Science of Getting: Network Marketing Edition.”
The thesis of his book is that if you want to get rich in network marketing you need to do certain things in a certain way, just like other successful distributors do.
The book focuses on the philosophy of success in life and network marketing. It by no means covers the “nuts and bolts” or “details” of MLM Success, but it will teach you to PREPARE your mindset the right way, so you can become a successful distributor.
I believe this is a very important lesson, since so many folks have self-image, confidence, and mindset problems. Most people coming into our industry have a lot of mental baggage to overcome.
Top 25 Wallace Wattles Quotes
His quotes are in bold and italics. My input immediately follows each quote. The quotes are listed by where I found them in the book. Let’s get started.
# 1 The most important aspect of successful network marketers is mindset.
What you think about is what you get. If you want to succeed in MLM, you need to think like a winner. You must have goals, develop a good self-image, and know how to overcome rejection and temporary failure. Be positive and focus on what is possible.
# 2 If you are to be in business – network marketing business – then you need to act like a business owner.
You won’t succeed in MLM if you think like an employee. Entrepreneurs and employees think very differently from each other. As an entrepreneur and network marketer, you get paid to produce, not to show up. It is merit based pay. You can earn a lot or earn nothing. You are building an asset, which will probably take you a few years to do, especially if you are building your business part-time. During that time you might get paid very little.
# 3 Rather than compare ourselves with our peers, let’s compete against our own limitations.
You are your own greatest asset and worst enemy. Stop comparing yourself to other successful distributors in your MLM Company. You are two different people. Instead, compare what you are currently doing to what you have the potential to do. The problem with comparing yourself to others is that you are comparing your weaknesses to their strengths. In addition, you don’t know the entire story of the other person. For instance, they might have had the same problems you are having right now, and spent YEARS working through those challenges until they became successful.
# 4 The object of all life is development.
No one is perfect. But we can all improve. We can all get a little bit better every single day. Your goal everyday should simply to be a little bit better than you were yesterday. If you can follow that advice your entire life, you will achieve monumental success. Small success compounded over a period of months and years really adds up to something big. Some people call it the Compound Effect.
# 5 Success in life is becoming what you want to be.
There is no universal definition of success. Success means different things to different people. Success is whatever it means to you. As far as your business is concerned, if your goal is to earn $500 per month and you do it, you are successful.
# 6 Getting rich is the result of doing things in a certain way.
Successful people do certain things in a certain way. You simply need to model their behavior and if you do what they did, you will get what they got.
# 7 It is true that you will do best in a business which you like, and which is congenial to you; if you have certain talents which are well developed, you will do best in a business which calls for the exercise of those talents.
Find a business model that lets you use your natural talents and abilities. Some people were born for network marketing and entrepreneurship, and others weren’t. If you don’t have the talents and abilities for MLM, but you have the passion for it, you can still be very successful in our industry.
# 8 There is an abundance of opportunity for the man who will go with the tide, instead of trying to swim against it.
Don’t be your own worst enemy. When you see an opportunity, seize it. Stop beating yourself up and underestimating what you are capable of. You are capable of great things, if you believe that.
# 9 No one is kept in poverty by a shortness in the supply of riches; there is more than enough for all.
You are not a failure because other people are successful. You are not broke because other people are wealthy. You are where you are in life right now based upon your decisions and your actions in the past. Your life is 100% in your hands. If you aren’t happy with who you are or where you are headed, it is up to you to change your thoughts and actions.
Let your actions control your mindset rather than letting your mindset control your actions. Rather than waiting until you are inspired to do something, go out and do it and you will naturally be inspired.
# 11 You must form a clear and definite mental picture of what you want; you cannot transmit an idea unless you have it yourself.
To succeed in life, and in network marketing, you must know what you want to achieve. It must be very specific. This is one of the reasons I love creating vision boards.
# 12 When you try to impress your wants upon Substance, remember that is must be done by a coherent statement; you must know what you want, and be definite.
To succeed, you need a crystal clear purpose or goal for your life. You must say it out loud to yourself so you can place that thought into your subconscious mind.
# 13 Remember that it is faith and purpose in the use of the imagination which make the difference between the scientist and the dreamer.
Anyone can have a dream. Successful people take their dream, commit it to paper in the form of a goal, create an action plan, and then ROLL UP their sleeves and do the work. It’s great to have dreams, but your dreams will never come true if you don’t make a plan and do the work.

# 14 It is wrong to apply your will to other men and women in order to get them to do what you wish done.
Don’t manipulate people. Don’t coerce or lie or pressure people to join your team as a customer or distributor. Your job is to sift and sort through people to FIND the right people to work with. Instead, look for people who are looking for what you have to offer.
# 15 It is as flagrantly wrong to coerce people by mental power as it to coerce them by physical power.
Don’t play mind games with people, or use physical force, to get them to do what you want them to do. Don’t use the guilt trip on others. Everyone has the right to their own opinion, even if they don’t agree with you.
# 16 The more steady and continuous your faith and purpose, the more rapidly you will get rich.
You need a crystal clear focus if you want to succeed in life and in network marketing. You must have a big, burning desire. Keep the main thing the main thing and focus on one thing until successful. Don’t distract yourself by trying to do too many things at once.
# 17 If you want to become rich, you must not make a study of poverty.
Whatever you want to achieve in life, study successful people who have already done it. Don’t focus on the failures. Learn everything you can about success, find mentors, and model the behavior of successful people. Basically, find someone who has achieved what you want to do and then go out and do what they did. Look at what most people do in life and do the complete opposite.
# 18 The poor do not need charity; they need inspiration.
Poverty is a mindset. People are poor because of HOW they think. Don’t confuse broke and poverty. Broke is a temporary position in life. Poverty is a way of thinking. Don’t give people a fish. And don’t just teach them how to fish. Show them WHY they should want to fish for themselves.
# 19 By thought, the thing you want is brought to you; by action you receive it.
Success starts with a vision, but ultimately you have to roll up your sleeves and do the work if you want to turn your vision into reality. If you want something you have to go get it. It won’t just come to you. The world is filled with dreamers, people who want something. However, very few dreamers take the time to make a game plan and do the work.
# 20 Do not wait for a change of environment, before you act; get a change of environment by action.
Don’t wait until everything is perfect. Things will never be perfect. The stars will never line up in your favor. Don’t wait for the perfect opportunity. MAKE your own opportunity. If something is important to you, just do it!
# 21 Do, every day, ALL that can be done that day. Live each day to its fullest.
Put in a good day of work every single day. Don’t put off until tomorrow what can be done today. Get organized each morning with a prioritized “to do” list. Do things in order of importance. Never end a work day when you still have something you could get done. Do not procrastinate.
# 22 It is really not the number of things you do, but the efficiency of each separate action that counts.
Anyone can be busy, and most people are, but successful do the right things in order of importance. Put the first things first. Make time for your business. Don’t confuse busy work with being productive. Focus on the money producing activities at all times and work smart.
# 23 The desire to rule for selfish gratification has been the curse of the world.
Don’t desire to become successful so you can rule others, or be powerful. Instead, become a success in life so you can INSPIRE others and serve others. Don’t be on a power trip or ego trip either. Life is about serving people and helping people.
# 24 When others are having hard times and poor business, you will find your greatest opportunities.
Behind every set back and challenge is an equal or greater opportunity. Everyone faces challenges. It’s how you deal with those challenges that matters most. Get up one more time than you fall down and you will succeed in life. Also, when the economy is bad, there is plenty of opportunity to build a successful network marketing business.
# 25 All things else being equal, it is best to select the business for which you have the best developed talent; but if you have a strong desire to engage in any particular line of work, you should select hat work as the ultimate end at which you attain.
Pick an occupation that matches your natural talents and abilities OR an occupation that you have a huge interest in. Do what you love or do what you are good at. I personally believe that if you love what you do the money will follow and you will live a very happy and fulfilling life. That is the formula for success.

About the Book
The Science of Getting Rich: Network Marketing edition is, to the best of my knowledge, the exact same book as “The Science of Getting Rich.” If anything, a couple of words might have been added or deleted, but I couldn’t tell the difference between this version of the book and the original version. It features 97 pages and is published by KRE of Nashville, TN. It comes in paperback or KINDLE formats.
In summary, The Science of Getting Rich: Network Marketing Edition by Wallace Wattles is an amazing book about how to prepare your mindset for success in network marketing.
While the book does not cover any of the details of building a network marketing business, it will teach you how to think like a top producer.
It will teach you how to reprogram your brain, so you can achieve the success you want and deserve. It will help you develop a good self-image.
It is absolutely jam packed with great ideas on how to think like a successful person.
Overall, I give it a 9 of 10 and consider it a must read, especially for anyone with self-image or confidence problems.
It’s also a great book to buy in large quantities and give to your downline, or prospects.
