In today’s post, I want to share some of my favorite video marketing resources, books, tools, articles, and ideas. This post is designed to educate you about how to succeed with video marketing. By all means, please check out the links and resources I share with you and use what pertains to you.
What is Video Marketing?
Here’s a simple definition I found online:
Video marketing refers to the use of video to market or promote your brand or offering on digital channels.
In simple terms, when you use video to market your brand, product or service, engage on social media channels, educate your prospective and current customers, and interact with them, you’re said to be using video marketing. ~ Source: Feedough.com
In my own words, video marketing is promoting your product, service, company, or brand via online videos.
Why Should You Do It?
Video marketing is a very powerful way to grow your brand and build your business. If I was starting all over again online today, I wouldn’t even have a blog or website. I would just have a YouTube Channel and that’s it.
Making videos is a smart way to grow your business. Most people prefer videos over text. Plus, videos let you connect with your audience, making them more personal. And, videos typically rank higher in the search engines than blog posts do. The bottom line is that video marketing is a win-win strategy, once you know what you are doing.
If you are trying to grow your business online, video marketing should be your primary strategy, or at least a major part of it! Using the resources and information below, you will have a great starting point. Enjoy.
My Favorite Video Marketing Books
Personally, I think it would be wise to read a few books about video marketing. This will give you basic knowledge concerning how to make videos, what to make videos about, tips for success, and creating a strategy that works for you. Here are a five titles that I highly recommend.

# 4: YouTube for Dummies by Doug Sahlin

Of course, there are other good books about video marketing, but these books will give you a solid foundation to build upon.
Video Marketing Resources
Listed below are a few video marketing resources, from other successful bloggers online.
Know Your Audience
My first advice is to know your audience. Knowing your audience will help you understand what video you are going to make. Types of audiences include: your friends, your clients, your students, the youtube community, the vimeo community, action sports lovers, cat lovers, crafty people, potential clients, parents, kids – you get the idea. Your target audience can be broad or very specific. The more specific you are, the easier it will be to make a video targeted to them. ~ VideoSchool.com
For Editing Videos
No video editing experience? No problem. Lumen5 makes it easy to create professional video with an easy drag-and-drop UX design. This software uses AI to auto-fill the bones of the video, so you don’t have to waste time in the creation process. Just tweak and publish! Check out this platform to make creative social media posts or Instagram stories quickly and efficiently. ~ Dowitcherdesigns.com
Your Call to Action
This is important. Chances are, viewers who stick around and watch the entire video are now genuinely interested in your offerings. You might even call them “qualified leads”.
Now is your chance to guide them to perform some desired action such as browse your product catalog, start a free trial, subscribe, consume more of your content, and so on.
Therefore, always end your videos with a call-to-action button and let your audience know exactly what they have to do next. For example, add end-screen annotations to your YouTube videos such as a “Subscribe” button, or ask them to answer a poll.
Besides, when it specifically comes to hosting the video on your own domain, the CTA doesn’t have to be at the end of the video either. According to a study conducted by KISSmetrics, adding a single CTA within a video generates as much as 380% more clicks than a CTA on the sidebar of the same page. So, consider adding CTAs judiciously throughout the video. ~ Convinceandconvert.com
For Promoting Your Videos
It feels silly writing out this tip because it’s so simple and seems obvious, but it’s also one that marketers tend to overlook. Clearly linking to a page in an email signature won’t cost you a dime and the effect it will have on increasing views could be significant, depending on how many people you have interacting with leads and customers. Most sales, marketing, and support teams have tons of conversations every day, and you should promote your video content during these interactions. ~ Wistia.com
Videos About Video Marketing
I found two really good videos on YouTube about video marketing. This first video covers lots of tips and strategies to successful video marketing. There are TONS of Golden Nuggets in here. Enjoy.
In this next video, you will learn how to grow a successful YouTube Channel, so you can build a large audience, get lots of views and traffic, and make money.

I also believe video marketing is a great tool. I find more and more individuals and businesses using it. I will say though that I also believe a person does need written content along with that video. Most of the top video marketers install a written piece under the video that summarizes what is in the video and also has a link to your capture page.
Some people will not watch the video, but will read the summary, so by doing this, you are covering both bases. Just my opinion, what are your thoughts?
I’ve done a lot of video marketing for my businesses and it works great.
The “How to Shoot Video That Doesn’t Suck” book is a great one. I don’t use video marketing, but if I was going to I would reference this book. A friend recommended it when I was considering using videos and even though I ultimately decided that wasn’t the route for me I did learn a lot. I now understand why some videos are so captivating and engaging and why others are not. A book I would easily recommend.
Glad you liked the book, Diamond.
