Today, I’m going to provide a brief overview of the USANA Compensation Plan.
The company uses a multilevel marketing business format in which independent USANA representatives sell the products and recruit other representatives. USANA is a public company listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
USANA Compensation Plan: 10 Cool Facts
After spending some time online, and taking a closer look, here is the breakdown of the USANA Compensation Plan.
# 1: 6 Ways To Make Money
With the USANA compensation plan, there are essentially 6 ways you can earn money:
- Retail Sales – USANA gives independent representatives a preferred price and the rep can then sell the product at the retail price. The average markups are 10-12%.
- Weekly Commissions – As a USANA representative, your goal is to also recruit other representatives into your downline. You can then earn weekly commissions off their sales.
- Matching Bonus – If you are a USANA Pacesetter and you recruit a Pacesetter, you get a lifetime matching bonus.
- Leadership Bonus
- Elite Bonus
- Various Incentives
# 2: Binary Structure
Some network marketing companies require you to build five, ten, even 12 or more legs to max out the compensation plan. With USANA, you only have to build TWO legs. That’s because they utilize the binary compensation plan.
Unlike the matrix compensation plan, the mlm binary compensation plan is a two-leg structure. There is a right side and a left side where members are placed. In addition, one leg is known as a strong leg, pay leg or profit leg while the other one is known as the weak leg.
Instead of having three or more members on your frontline you only have two on your front line (even though some MLM companies may reward you for sponsoring more than two). ~ Source: RichMentorship.com
After spending many years in the industry myself, and being a critic of the binary compensation plan most of that time (because of ignorance), I have had a change of heart. The binary compensation plan is now my favorite. Why? Because you only have to build TWO legs. If you can’t build two legs, how can you ever expect to succeed in a company where you have to build more legs than that.
# 3: You Are Paid On Volume
The USANA compensation plan pays you commission on the volume of the smaller leg of the 2. Like any legitimate network marketing company, you don’t get paid to recruit people. You are only paid when products are purchased.
# 4: Cost To Start
Before I explain this, do keep in mind the cost to start a traditional business. Most traditional businesses cost at least $10,000 to $100,000 just to get started.
With USANA, you just need to activate a single business center. You need 200 points to do that, so you need to order that much. The easiest way is to order a business starter pack for $305 which gives you many USANA products to try and use.
Or you can simply order products until you reach the 200 points. Once you have that, you are active and can start earning.
# 5: Staying Active
To keep your business center active, you need 100 points in personal sales volume every 4 weeks. This will cost you approximately $150 to $200 per month, depending on what you buy. To some people, that might seem expensive. To a traditional business owner, you realize that’s a very low monthly overhead for a business.

# 6: Adding More “Punch” To Your Business
With the USANA compensation plan, you can have 3 business centers. This gives you more “punch.” Your main business center is the top and your other 2 will be directly under you leading your right and left legs. By doing this, you will have 4 downline legs instead of 2.
When you join USANA, you’ll open one Business Center or three Business Centers, based on whether you’d like to start a small business or a large business. You’ll earn commissions on your product sales through your Business Center(s). The more Business Centres you have, the more money you can potentially make. ~ Source: Foods2Young.com
Think of your business center as your storefront. When you join USANA, you can choose 1, 2 or 3 storefronts.
# 7: Your Volume Rolls Over
Once again, you have two legs: a left leg and a right leg. As your volume builds in both legs, any volume you didn’t get paid on that week rolls over to the following week, until you are eligible to get paid on it.
# 8: Additional Business Centers
Earlier I said you can have up to 3 business centers… But guess what? You can get more!
Once you have generated 5,000 points on both the left and right sides of your business center, USANA will give you a voucher to open another business center you can place beneath either your left or right side.
# 9: Preferred Customers
You will not earn commissions off their sales, but you can get preferred customers who purchase product at preferred prices. These preferred customer sales will count toward your group sales volume.
Enroll online as a USANA Preferred Customer and save up to 20% off the retail price. Membership is free. As a preferred customer you will enjoy all of USANA’s products and save 10% off the retail price. However, you can save an additional 10% by enrolling in USANA’s monthly discount program. The program is free and you can cancel at anytime at no cost to you.
In addition to the Preferred Price, new Preferred Customers can receive an additional 10% discount based on their initial order. To receive the 10% reward, the new Preferred Customer must place an initial order and then set up a recurring order through Auto Order. The reward will be split in half and paid during the customer’s next two recurring shipments. ~ Source: Premium-Vitamins.com
# 10: Many Incentives
In addition to the money, there are also incentives built into the USANA Compensation Plan. This includes luxury trips and travel to destination getaways.
No matter your rank, you can be rewarded with luxury travel, prizes, and even extra cash when you participate in USANA’s generous incentive programs.

When asking any USANA representative about their compensation plan, I hear unanimous exclamations that are positive. While no compensation plan is perfect, USANA has one that is close.
