In today’s post I want to share my list of top 50 do’s and don’ts in network marketing. This list includes tips for success and mistakes to avoid.  I hope you can find two or three nuggets on this page that can help you move your network marketing business forward.  Enjoy!

Here are 50 things you SHOULD DO in your network marketing business.

Do’s

  1. Think long term
  2. Team up with someone who knows what they are doing
  3. Find a mentor
  4. Find a product line you are passionate about
  5. Be a network marketing professional
  6. Work your business consistently for at least two to five years
  7. Have realistic expectations
  8. Be a student of your business
  9. Study marketing and lead generation
  10. Build a list
  11. Work on your people skills
  12. Learn how to manage your time
  13. Plan your work and work your plan
  14. Make the decision that you will succeed no matter what
  15. Treat everyone with respect
  16. Be honest, sincere and genuine
  17. Focus on helping other people get what they want
  18. Move the business from your head to your heart
  19. Be a product of the product
  20. Write a business plan
  21. Go to all events
  22. Discover your WHY
  23. Use third party tools
  24. Make a commitment to one company
  25. Learn how to overcome objections
  26. Learn how to deal with rejections

All of these things are very important to do if you want a successful MLM Business.  It’s highly likely you are already doing a lot of these things.  I encourage you to evaluate yourself in each area and see where you can make some minor improvements.

Don’ts

Just to clarify these are 50 things you should NOT do in your network marketing business.   They are listed in no particular order.

  1. Never speak badly about other people or other companies
  2. Be a MLM Junkie!
  3. Be out for the fast buck!
  4. Have the lottery mentality
  5. Follow any one person blindly
  6. Try to me a one pony circus!
  7. Do the business only when you feel like it
  8. Try to help people who don’t want to help themselves
  9. Recruit people who NEED the business
  10. Recreate the wheel
  11. Expect your new people to know what to do
  12. Treat your business like a hobby
  13. Have the get rich quick mentality
  14. Dabble with the business
  15. Have unrealistic expectations
  16. Be arrogant or cocky
  17. Manage your team
  18. Do your own presentations
  19. Expect people to buy if you don’t ask for the sale
  20. Ask people to do things you aren’t willing to do yourself
  21. Try a bunch of different systems at once
  22. Be negative
  23. Expect people to do more than you do
  24. Take rejection personally
  25. Puke your business or products all over people
  26. Spam your business on Facebook
  27. Boss your team around
  28. Forget to follow up
  29. Over complicate the business
  30. Do things for your distributors that they should do for themselves
  31. Build someone a team for them
  32. Expect anything from anyone
  33. Hang around negative people and dream stealers
  34. Forget to build depth
  35. Stop talking to new people
  36. Chase people
  37. Talk too much
  38. Be a slacker
  39. Think small
  40. Forget to get lots of customers
  41. Be an emotional roller coaster
  42. Hide behind your computer
  43. Miss an event
  44. Pressure people to do more than they want to
  45. Pre-judge people
  46. Get excited about any one specific person
  47. Listen to people who don’t have what you want
  48. Quit your day job
  49. Spend all your time on the non-money producing activities
  50. Give up too soon!

I encourage you to evaluate yourself in each one of these 50 areas and see if you are making any of these common mistakes.

There you have it folks.  These are my top 50 do’s and don’ts in the network marketing industry.  This is by no means an all inclusive list.  Instead, I simply wanted to share a few important ideas to help you with your mindset and prepare you for success.

  1. Very solid list. I’d love to just make a list of these and and hang them on my wall as motivation and reminders. In fact, I’ll likely lead my team to this post so they can also benefit from this great list. I think sometimes we all lose sight of the things we should be doing or those things we should be avoiding. Refreshing your memory and refocusing is always good thing to do from time to time.

  2. Thanks for your updates and inputs. I am a 2 year old son mom working full time. At night i have got no one to help babysitting my son (our country, it is not common to seek for a temporary babysitter). I read mlm books and blogs or any documents related to the business and my company (while waiting to pick my son up from a daycare), it is difficult for me to go to weekly events, do you have any suggestions for those whom attending night weekly events is impossible.

    1. In some cases, people work odd schedules and it is difficult to attend events, but there are many ways you can still get the education the events offer. Sometimes they record the events and you can purchase them. I also suggest that you listen to the many podcasts Chuck offers here on Online MLM community.

      There are many great books on building your business, and as Diamond said above…Make a copy of this post and other great information you should read daily, and read them daily. You may also want to check if some of these events offer child care. Some events offer these services, and it may be great if you request child care. If the people running these events realize the need, they might make it happen.
