Would you like to learn how to help your MLM Team achieve success? If you’re like most distributors you are having a tough time getting your new distributors to do what you teach them. In most cases, people drop off just as quickly as you can sponsor them into your business. As a result, you have a revolving door in your business and have to constantly keep sponsoring new team members just to maintain your current pin level.
Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a better way to help your team achieve success? Wouldn’t it be nice to know a few things you can do help your new distributors get started right, so they can learn the business, make money and help grow your team?
What I want to do today is share 10 things you can do to help your MLM Team achieve success so (1) you can make more money, (2) you have higher retention rates in your team, and (3) you move closer to achieving your business goals. Let’s get started.
# 1 Teach your distributors to retail. This is quite perhaps the biggest shortcoming in MLM. No one is taught to retail the products to customers. Everyone is so fixated on sponsoring other business builders that they forget to share the products with others. Teach your new team members to get 5-10 retail customers. Help them get the customers. This one thing alone will help them make an immediate profit in their business, so they can pay for their auto-ship and have some money to buy training tools and business support materials. It will also give them belief in the business.
# 2 Get your team plugged in to your upline. Leverage anyone in your upline who is successful and/or is willing to help you. Edify your upline and let them help your new team members too, especially the excited ones. Some people you won’t be able to connect with because of personality conflicts, language barriers, or for whatever reason. These folks should be plugged in to your upline. Any excited new distributor should be introduced to successful upline distributors.
# 3 Create a getting started guide and give every team member a copy. I’m a big fan of having a “new distributor getting started guide” that you can give to every team member. This guide should provide step-by-step instructions that anyone can follow to get started. It should also have a frequently asked questions section along with the answers.
# 4 Help the new person sponsor one or two people distributors in their first week. When you first sponsor someone; that is when they are most excited. The sooner you can help them sponsor a couple new distributors, the longer they will stay on your team. Try to get your new recruits to sponsor someone in their first couple days in the business, no longer than their first week in the business.
# 5 Invest 5-6 hours with each new person you sponsor. When you sponsor someone it is not the END of the recruiting process. It is the beginning of the process. You need to spend a few hours with each new recruit to help them identify their goals, to create a customized game plan for them, to teach them the basics and to get to know them. Be prepared to invest 5-10 hours of one-on-one time during their first couple weeks in the business.
# 6 Light a fire in the basement. If you want to improve your retention rates and help your new team members achieve success, one of the best things you can do is start building depth quickly. As soon as your new distributors sponsor someone, start working with that person. Help them sponsor a couple people and work with those people. Keep building depth and NEVER stop. When you light a fire in the basement, everyone in the upline will be excited and many of them will take action because of the “fear of loss.” This is quite perhaps the best way to help your team.
# 7 Do a monthly “nuts and bolts” meeting. A “nuts and bolts” meeting is where you teach your team members the basics about your business, such as how to invite, how to order, tips for getting started, how to do in home meetings, how to sign someone up, etc. I suggest you do a meeting once a month for all your local distributors. Another good option is to do a “nuts and bolts” meeting and record it on video and audio and then send every new distributor a copy of it. This standardizes your training and shows everyone what they need to do to get started.
# 8 Use a System. Systems are very powerful. Systems are why franchises are so successful. Your network marketing business needs systems. You need a training system. You need a marketing and a lead generation system. Start out by using your upline’s system. Use the method they use to build the business, especially if they are successful. Use a system with proven results. Don’t innovate, duplicate.
# 9 Get your new distributors to attend local meetings. Meetings are powerful. When your new distributor can attend a big or small meeting with other distributors, it validates their decision and helps them build belief in the business. Whether your distributor is local or long distance, give them a list of meetings in their local area and do what you can to get them to attend.
# 10 Help them set business goals and develop a business plan. Help your new team members set goals and develop a business plan. For most distributors, they have never owned a business before, so this will be a new experience. Take the time and help them write down what they want to achieve in the business and help them write out an action plan that outlines what they must do to reach their goals.
