What should you know about MLM Consulting?
Let me start by telling you that consulting is a very good way to generate an extra income in your network marketing business.
If you are already a successful distributor, you can work with different MLM Companies as a consultant.
Many start-up companies want to consult with successful distributors to get their MLM Company up and running properly.
Additionally, many distributors will hire a successful distributor to provide MLM Consulting for them.
This is often referred to as MLM Coaching.
Struggling distributors or new distributors will hire a successful distributor at a fixed rate or hourly fee to get some guidance on how to build their network marketing business.
This gives the successful distributor some extra money and also helps out the new distributor at the same time.
It’s a win-win deal for both parties involved.
On a side note, please know that you don’t have to be a top earner to make money with MLM Consulting.
I truly believe that anyone could build a successful MLM Consulting business.
What’s most important is to determine your skills in order to provide relevant services.
The truth is everyone is good at something.
You might not be a top earner yet, but you might be really good at search engine optimization.
In this example, you could sell search engine optimization services for network marketers, or companies.
You could teach people how to get their blog or website ranked higher in the search engines.
Furthermore, if you are good at blogging, you could sell blogging services for network marketers.
You could help network marketers set up their own blog.
You could create their blog for them for a fee.
Or if you are good at email marketing, you could create an email marketing course for network marketers.
Or, you could write custom email marketing campaigns for people who hire you.
In all of these examples, you could earn a nice income working as a MLM Consultant.
Does that make sense?

Here are a few other examples of possible consulting ideas for network marketing distributors:
1. Teach people how to build a MLM Website
For a reasonable fee, you could build network marketers their own website so they can establish their online presence.
You could sell them hosting and domains and charge a monthly fee to maintain or update the website.
Or, they could hire you by the hour, or by the project, to help them.
2. Teach people how to generate leads online
If you are good at online lead generation, you could coach people on how to generate their own leads.
You could do this through coaching, live seminars, or with an information product.
3. Teach distributors how to advertise in newspapers
You could give classes on how to write good classified ads.
Or, people could hire you to write the ads for them.
4. Teach people how to create marketing funnels
You could teach other network marketers how to create a marketing funnel, how to use auto-responders and how to leverage a self liquidating offer in their business.
5. Teach people how to create systems
You could create your own generic system that any network marketer could use.
You could sell this to other network marketers for a monthly fee, or give it away to people who join your team.
Or, you could create a course on how to create your own system.
6. Provide one on one coaching services to struggling distributors
You could sell coaching services, just like I do, to other network marketers.
All you need to do is answer their questions and help them solve their current problems.
7. Offer ghostwriting services
If you are good at writing, you could be a “for hire” writer and write blog posts, articles, newsletters or even books for other network marketers.
8. Teach distributors how to market their business online or offline
You could create a marketing course, or offer coaching services that teach network marketers how to build their business online or offline.
9. Teach MLM Companies how to create a fair compensation plan
You could work directly with MLM Companies during the start-up phase and help them come up with a fair compensation plan that distributors will be attracted to.
10. Work with top distributors to build training systems for their downline
If you are a techie, you could make a lot of money creating automated systems for successful distributors to use with their downline.
I’ve seen several distributors pay six, even seven figures to have these types of systems created.
My Thoughts
As you can see, you are only limited to your creativity when you decide to get involved with MLM Consulting.
What matters most is that you are proficient at the task you are selling.
Don’t try to sell services in an area that you know nothing about.
On the other hand, you don’t need to be a six or seven figure earner to get involved with MLM Consulting.
As long as you are competent and skilled in one specific area, you can make plenty of money as a MLM Consultant.
These are just the first ten MLM Consulting ideas that came to my mind.
I’d be willing to bet that there are hundreds of other creative ideas, too.
If you are interested in consulting, you should take out a piece of paper and brainstorm 20-40 potential ideas.
Start by making a list of things you are knowledgeable about or good at.
Try to come up with minimum 10 solid ideas.
Once you finish, whittle down your list to the best 2-3 ideas and pick one that you think has the greatest potential.
Final Thoughts
In summary, MLM Consulting is a great way to make more money in your MLM business, or to build a standalone business.
Anyone can become a MLM Consultant.
The key to success is to figure out what you are good at, and then sell those services to other distributors or MLM Companies.
You can get started by doing any of the ten ideas mentioned above, or you can create your own list of potential money making ideas.
Like anything else, it will take some time, money and hard work to build a successful MLM Consulting business.
But, if you get started, keep learning and never quit, you will eventually succeed.
I think it’s best to build your MLM Business while you do this, because many of the people who hire you and work with you will want to join your downline as well.

Sometimes you do have to help those distributors who are struggling in order to help them turn things around, but only if you see that they are genuinely interested in the help. When I first started I made the mistake of reaching out to everyone who was struggling and with some of those people their struggling wasn’t the result of lack of knowledge or a failure after trying, but rather the lack of genuine effort. So investing personal time with them proved to be a waste because they really just were not interested in doing all they could to make things work.
You can only help the willing.
We all have different talents. The list you provided shows where even newbies can be consultants. As a writer, even when I was just starting to get books published, I was showing people how to. This works the same in MLM. Even if you are not making a lot of money with your MLM, or have a big downline, you still may be able to show people more successful in their MLM how to set up a blog or cold call people. We all have different talents; find yours and use it for all it is worth!
So true, Greg!
I think you are right. So many of the things that I’ve read about MLM make such perfect sense that it wouldn’t be difficult to share this information with someone in need. I like that you offer so much information for us ‘newbies’. I’m finding that I’ve been involved in several network marketing ventures and didn’t even realize that is what they were (it was long ago and the internet was a dream). I can definitely see that different people might have different niches that they fill within network marketing consultation.
I like your idea about developing an area of expertise within the MLM business and then becoming a MLM Consultant in that area. I truly believe that anyone could become a consultant, have extra income streams, and have much better success leading with their services and then offering the business opportunity on the back-end.
Fred,
I really like this idea as well. Like Greg said in his response, we all have talents. So it would make the most sense to me to take what you are already talented and apply it in MLM, and then master that particular area. Then when you become a consultant it becomes one of those instances where work is not like work at all because you really enjoy and are good at what you do. Really great advice.
These are some great MLM Consulting ideas, Chuck. Personally, I help people build capture pages. I decided to focus my business on helping other network marketers and direct sales professionals because there are more than 50 million people in this industry worldwide. That creates plenty of opportunity to build a thriving business. For the most part I focus on getting customers for my capture page service, but I do sponsor 3-4 people a month into my MLM Company, just from talking to people who buy my capture page services. This truly is the best way to build a MLM Business.
These are some awesome ideas! One of the hidden benefits of many of these activities is the opportunity to hone your own skills. Whether you choose to market yourself to set up or write blogs for other businesses, or you develop a training piece, you will be offering value while building your business and reinforcing your own knowledge base. The best way to deepen your learning experience is to apply and reteach.
I think anyone could be a MLM Consultant, even a newbie to the industry. If you can figure out what your skills are, and then turn those skills into a valuable product or service that would benefit other network marketers, you could make a very nice income doing so. And then building your MLM Business would be a natural byproduct of building your consulting business. Just my thoughts.
Chuck
Good point. Often people entering the MLM industry bring with them a number of strengths and solid experience that is directly relevant to MLM. While MLM has a distinct niche under the sales and marketing umbrella, there is a wide range of universal skills and knowledge that a “newbie” could contribute. I think encouraging creativity and some “outside of the box” thinking is a good idea. Hmmmmm…might be worth doing a little consulting about!
Thanks for the comment, Amy. We all have at least one area of expertise that would benefit another entrepreneur or network marketer. When done properly you can take that expertise and turn it into a very profitable consulting business. You don’t have to know everything either. You just have to know more than the people who hire you. As you get started you will learn new skills and get even better.
