The Importance of Meetings, Calls and Events in MLM

I want to teach you about the importance of meetings, calls and events in your network marketing business.  These are some helpful lessons that I have learned during the past 12 years.

I believe that meetings, calls and events are the GLUE that keeps your network marketing organization together. People like to belong to something much bigger than themselves. They like to do things in a group setting and have a sense of belonging, by being part of a team.

In addition, meetings, calls and events help you work smart.  You can do training in a group setting, which frees up your time.  There is also the excitement that comes with group training and events.  The enthusiasm from the group is contagious.

Meetings might include opportunity meetings, in home meetings, one-on-one meetings, training meetings or anything else you can think of.  This is when anywhere from three to one hundred or more people get together to share ideas, for fellowship, and for new information.  I personally love meetings and always enjoy hanging out with other reps from the same company.

Calls might include one-on-one calls, training calls, leadership calls, and three-way calls.  I think it is wise to do a weekly training or leadership call for your team so everyone can plug in, learn new things, share ideas, and get some motivation.

I think events are hands down the most powerful thing you can promote in your business. This might include regional or national events put on by your company.  The company convention is without a doubt the most important event you can promote. Anytime you can get your team around THOUSANDS of like-minded people, good things will happen. Their motivation and belief in the business will skyrocket.  There are also generic, non-company specific events that are worth attending.

Smart network marketers leverage meetings, calls and events to build their network marketing organization.  If no one in the upline is doing these things for the team, they do it for their team.  They also attend ALL of the events themselves and promote the events to their team.

Whether you are a brand new network marketer or seasoned field leader, it’s important that you participate in meetings, calls and events.  Leverage the group settings to build excitement in your team and to TRAIN your team.  It will help you work smart and get better results in your business.

  1. Great advice! I’m glad you touched on the importance of meetings and events. I know it can be hard for teams to step out of the day-to-day responsibilities of business and take time for development, education and realignment to the company’s vision and goals. Being around like-minded people is inspirational and can take your goals to the next level.

  2. I have found that each of these tools is a necessity for building and maintaining a strong team. People want to feel valued in their organization and organizing calls and meetings regularly helps them feel this way. Also, they present opportunities for them to address concerns and submit ideas. Events help with the team building aspect because people are able to come together for a common cause and that helps the whole organization.

  3. I have been saying this for a while now that without good communications and the opportunity to network and form business friendships and relationships. Without good communication any business is doomed to fail or at the very lest struggle a great deal to get by,

  4. I agree with the idea that meetings are a great way to motivate yourself and your team, but I also agree with Sherry’s comments that the meetings must be fun, or at least have a positive vibe. Meetings that just bring everyone together to instill a fear of failure in them might be necessary sometimes (rarely), but positive meetings are so much more effective. You want to inspire your team to want to succeed and stay part of an exciting, vibrant organization, not motivate them to start searching for their next opportunity outside of your team.

    1. Meetings definitely need to be uplifting and inspirational! People want to belong to something bigger than themselves and meetings are one of the best ways to do that, if you do it right. Combine that with a good weekly call and some personal coaching and you have a 1-2-3 combination.

  5. I am a MLM leader and I found this article interesting. One thing I would like to add is that no doubt meetings, trainings, calls and events all are equally important however one other important task is to be able to promote your trainings and to make your trainings/events more like an entertainment for your audiences. All the efforts made in organizing training or event will be wasted if your audiences are not excited to attend. Everything fails if no one attends.

    1. That is so true, Sherry. Yes, you need to promote events like a madman, but making them fun, memorable and educational are very important too. They must be loaded with motivation and good training. You must underpromise and overdeliver!

    2. I think this is one of the hardest parts of this entire process. It is easy to plan and develop and prepare but if you cannot get people on board, all of that hard work will have been for nothing. It is so very important to be able to market yourself!

      1. I think all leaders should do some calls and meetings and then they should focus on getting their team to attend. Not everyone will. But, if you can get the serious people there, you will be set.
