The # 1 Secret to MLM Success

What is the # 1 secret to MLM Success? Why do some people achieve huge success in this great industry, but most people fail or quit?

Is it because the industry is flawed?  Is it a scam?  I don’t think so.  I personally think the industry offers an amazing opportunity for EVERYONE.

If I had to boil down the key to success to one word it would be “consistency.”

Most people are not consistent with their network marketing business.  They don’t do the little things day in and day out to grow their business.  They don’t do the money producing activities over and over and over until they make it.

Sure, they WANT to succeed with the business.  Who doesn’t?  But, most network marketers aren’t willing to do the work.  I take that back.  They are working with the busy work, fooling themselves, but not doing the right work.

Even worse, most network marketers dabble with the business.  They work it a few hours this week, do nothing the following week, share one presentation the next week, and then go to an event the final week of the month.  And then they WONDER why their business isn’t growing. Seriously?  Would you build a big business in any industry by dabbling with it?  Do you know anyone successful in life who dabbles?  I don’t.

In our industry, the only activities that generate income are prospecting, presenting, following up, getting customers and training your team.  To make it even simpler, recruiting and retailing are the two most important activities in this industry.

If you aren’t working your business at least 20 hours per week AND you aren’t spending at least 90% of that time retailing and recruiting, you will NOT succeed.  EVER.

I know that sounds harsh, but it’s the truth.  And someone needs to tell you the truth. I wish someone would have been this blunt with me when I first joined the industry back in 2002. It would have saved me a lot of frustration.

Talk to any 100 network marketers and you will quickly find that 98 or 99 of them DO NOT do the money producing activities consistently, every single day.  Look at their calendar and you will quickly see lots of blank space.  Watch them closely and you will see they spend most of their business hours surfing the net, thinking about their business, listening to calls, getting organized, watching YouTube videos, wasting time on Facebook, attending meetings, and other non-productive tasks.

Most people are NOT retailing and recruiting consistently, month after month.  I can’t speak for you, but I have a hard time getting my team members to even show ONE presentation a month to a qualified prospect, let alone 10-20 per month like they should be doing. How about you?

Be honest with yourself for a minute.  How many people did you sponsor last month?  What about the month before that?  And what about the month before that?  How many customers did you acquire last month?  How many have you acquired this year so far?

Are you leading by example?  Are you being consistent?  If I had to guess, you probably aren’t.

And as I see it, that is the biggest cause of failure in our industry.  And it is also the key to success.

If you REALLY want to make it in MLM, you must be persistent and consistent with your business.  You must talk to NEW prospects every single day.  You must share the business opportunity and products with others every single day.  You must SCHEDULE time in your day planner to do these activities.

You can’t show one plan a month or one plan a week and expect big results.

You can’t expect to build a big business in a few months.

You can’t expect to talk to five people a month and get big results.

You need a game plan, and then you must EXECUTE that game plan and be persistent and consistent.

If this troubles you, please know that it doesn’t just apply to network marketing.

It applies to marriage, saving money, losing weight, or achieving success in anything in life. The people who succeed in life are the people with a game plan, a good work ethic, persistence, and the discipline to work toward their goal EVERY DAY.

What I encourage you to do is look yourself in the  mirror and ask yourself if you are really committed to your network marketing business, or is it all just a big dream?

Could I look at your day planner and see “business building” activities scheduled in your day planner every single day?  If no, why not?

the number one key to mlm successI don’t want you to fool yourself.  If you really want to succeed in MLM, you have to look at what most distributors do and then go out and to the exact opposite.

You can make excuses or you can make money, but you can’t do both.

Just remember, we are all the Captains of our own ship.  We are responsible for our own success or failure in life.  If you REALLY want to do something, you must sell out to the business and make it a priority in your life.

You can’t wish your way to success.  You have to do the work. And you have to be persistent and CONSISTENT.

  1. hey! im planning to do this kind of network strategies but somehow i dont know where to start to i need some advice if you have that would be big help for me.

  2. You nailed it with this post. Unfortunately, many people lack the consistency to turn their MLM opportunity into anything significant. A large percentage of people who come into the MLM industry are sometimes in and sometimes out, which rarely produces anything of significant value. A person has to be willing each and every day to give the same amount of time, same amount of energy, and put in the same amount of work before they can see any real results.

    • Without a doubt, the biggest reason people on my team, or people in any other company fail is because they aren’t consistent.

  3. It is true: to be successful in MLM, you need to put in a lot of hard work and be consistent. Getting into MLM is not like buying a lottery ticket: there are no immediate results, and certainly none if you just sit around and treat the business like something you can do in your spare time (and really, who has spare time any way). Also, do not listen to those who are negative about your business opportunity. Don’t waste your time. Just go on to the next person.

    • I agree. It’s no different than any other business. You have to work hard and there is a chance you might fail. That is a risk you take when you become a business owner. I still think it’s worth selling out to the idea.
