Supporting Other Companies in the MLM Industry

This post might come across as a weird post to some of you, but I think it’s very relevant.  As MLM Distributors, I think we have an obligation to support our entire industry, not just our primary company.  What do I mean by that?

I think every distributor should be a customer of several different network marketing or direct sales companies, if those companies have high quality, fairly priced, non-competing products (from their primary company).

Why not support the entire industry?  Doesn’t it help everyone?  When the industry succeeds everyone benefits.  That’s the way I see it anyway.

Let’s face it, there are thousands of different companies in the MLM Industry.  These different companies offer a WIDE VARIETY of products and services to include:

I’m sure you are a distributor with a great company at the present moment, but why not be a retail customer or wholesale distributor with several different different companies?  Instead of shopping at Wal-mart or your local drug store, why not buy from friends, family and other distributors?  Doesn’t it make more sense to support the little guy than support a big business?

I can tell you one thing: You will do more good for the economy by helping the little guy than by helping the big business.  A $50 to $100 purchase with a big corporation has ZERO effect on their business, but it can be very helpful for the network marketer and small business owner.

By all means, only BUILD one company, but support other distributors as a customer if you can.

You don’t even have to think of it as supporting other MLM Companies!  If anything you are supporting the other independent distributors like yourself.

Personally, I buy products from about 30-40 different network marketing companies in any given year.  These companies all offer non competing products that my primary company doesn’t offer. As I see it, it’s a win-win for everyone involved.  I get access to great products I can’t buy anywhere else AND I help other independent distributors like myself succeed.  And I help the entire industry.

You don’t have to be a customer with as many companies as I am, but why not try out products or services from one or two other companies, especially if you are buying similar products elsewhere?  Most companies offer a 30-day money back guarantee so there is no risk.  Besides, you might fall in love with the products!

The bottom line is that every network marketer should try to support multiple MLM Companies (as a customer). No one should try to build more than one company at a time, but everyone can have their primary business and be a customer with a few other companies.  Support your friends.  Support other people in the industry.  When you do that everyone benefits.

What are your thoughts?  Are you a customer of other MLM Companies?  If so, which companies do you buy from and what are your favorite products?  Leave a comment below to share your thoughts.  I look forward to hearing from you.

  1. If I could preach from the rooftops the benefits of shopping with a local brand, I would! There are so many benefits to supporting each other and in the shifting sands of these economic times that is so important! I like to support Avon and Let’s Do Tea just to name a few.

  2. Hmm, this is really interesting. At first I thought it went against the idea of being loyal to your current MLM by using and supporting other products. But I do get what you’re saying about being a supporter of the entire industry. Plus, you can totally be loyal to your own MLM by focusing growing efforts on them while still using other products. An idea I’ll probably consider over the next few weeks. Thanks for sharing.

  3. I had really never thought of it in the way you put here Chuck, but your suggestion makes complete sense. We do support a couple MLMs with purchases and we do it without even thinking about the fact that they are MLM based, we buy them because they are great products.

By purchasing from non-competing MLMs, we are helping the complete network. It makes great sense, and in many cases, it creates an atmosphere of teamwork across the whole network marketing industry.

Very good post that all network marketers should consider! Thank you.

    1. I am a big believer in supporting the local small business owners, including network marketers, than I am about putting more money in the pockets of big businesses. It’s the small business owner that keeps our country growing.
