Success in MLM is 90% Mental

Did you know that success in MLM is 90% mental.  I think so anyway.  Study successful and unsuccessful distributors and you will discover a huge difference in the way they think. Successful distributors have vision.  They can “see” their success long before they achieve it.

Successful distributors believe in themselves, their opportunity, and what they are doing. They never second guess themselves.  Successful distributors let their actions determine their emotions rather than letting their emotions determine their actions.  Successful distributors realize that all businesses have ups and downs, challenges and setbacks.  But they persist anyway.  Successful distributors adopt the “I can, I will, I shall” mentality, not the “I’ll try it for a month or two and see if it works” mentality.

Now don’t fool yourself.  You still have to roll up your sleeves and work like a dog for a few years, if you really want to make it in network marketing.  However, I don’t believe you will ever actually do that UNTIL you get your “mental state of mind” wired right. Until you can think like a winner, you won’t become a winner.

I can’t speak for you, but when I first got involved in this great industry more than a decade ago I had a pretty bad self-image.  I wasn’t confident.  I wasn’t happy.  I didn’t like myself as a person.  I was angry all the time. I had a bad attitude.  I didn’t think I deserved to be successful.  I could go on and on, but the truth is “I wasn’t a very good prospect.”

Thankfully, we all have the ability to change (if we want to).  I credit the mentorship from my upline and sponsor, reading hundreds of self-help and business books, attending close to 100 network marketing and personal development seminars, and listening to several thousand success tapes to helping me get my mental state of mind right. And once I got my thinking right everything else magically fell into place.

So if you are struggling with your business opportunity right now, please realize that YOU are the problem, not the company.  Please realize that you might need to work on your attitude and mindset and level of belief.  I suggest you focus on your personal development so you can become the person you need to be, so you can achieve success in this great industry.

Make it a point to:

  • Read for 30 minutes every day
  • Listen to a tape a day
  • Talk with your successful upline once a week
  • Listen to all training and motivational calls
  • Attend all events
  • Hang around others with big dreams and goals

Do these things and eventually you will get your mindset right.  It might take you a few months.  It might even take you a few years like it did for me.  But however long it takes it’s well worth it.
