Sell Tools and Leads to Network Marketers and Everyone is a Prospect

If you’re trying to build your network marketing business online, it would be in your own best interest to sell tools, systems, training, and leads, in addition to promoting your MLM Business. When you take this approach, everyone is your prospect.  It’s also lucrative financially.

Even if you are a really good recruiter, most people that you talk to will not join your team. Having a way to make money from all of these people is paramount (in addition to the people who say yes).  It lets you work smart.

I’ve been doing the “online” thing with my network marketing business for more than six years now, and I have to tell you it is much easier, and much more lucrative, to sell tools, systems, leads and training online than it is to try and promote your business online.

Most people online are not looking for another business to join.  Most network marketers are not looking for another business either.  Most network marketers are looking for a solution to their problems. They want help achieving success in their business.  Your job is to sell the solutions.

  • Sell leads
  • Sell systems
  • Sell training
  • Sell affiliate products
  • Sell advertising
  • Sell website packages
  • Sell courses
  • Sell coaching

This is where the real money is at. That’s what most of the top earners do.

And here’s the kicker.  After you SELL these tools, leads and additional services to your prospects, you can offer your business opportunity on the back end.  Once these folks see the value you provide, many of them will want to join your team.

If you follow this approach, EVERY network marketer in the world is in your TARGET MARKET and is a potential prospect for your business.

You see, if you start talking business opportunities online, people will put up their defense mechanisms and run the other direction (in most cases).  The internet is simply flooded with business opportunity ads.

But when you start selling a solution to network marketers on how to get more leads, how to find customers, how to set up a website, how to build their business online, etc. EVERYONE becomes your prospect.

On a side note, if you’re focused on building your network marketing business OFFLINE, you have two choices.  Keep doing what you are doing, or incorporate the promotion of leads, training, and system business into what you are currently doing.

To be quite frank with you, I look at my network marketing business and my online business and two SEPARATE businesses.  They both support each other.  My MLM Business is my long term project and my affiliate business provides immediate income.

I still believe that network marketing is best built (and easier) by doing it offline.  That is the time-proven method.  And if you choose to do it online you have to find a way to be different and stand out in the crowd.

But, I’m also smart enough to realize that there is plenty of money in the picks and shovels business.  And I do believe it can offer a lucrative opportunity all by itself if you invest some time and money to learn how to do it.  There are plenty of people who specialize in selling affiliate products to network marketers, but aren’t building a downline themselves.

At the end of the day, you have to decide what is best for you and what is best for your business.  For most people, I would just recommend sticking with Old School MLM.  But for folks who enjoy online marketing and want to create a laptop lifestyle, I would suggest you follow the advice listed in this article.

  1. I see that this is a strategy you use and it must be working if you recommend it. It makes perfect sense to offer these other tools because it maximizes profits and leads potential. A question I have is how do you go about the process of developing or finding material that you can sell? Also, how much time would it take to develop training or other tools (on average)?

    • I just sell products or services that I have used myself.

  2. This is all very good information. Something that I see on your list that I am trying to get more into is “selling advertising”. I will be searching your website for advice on how to be more successful at that. (So, hint: if you have not already devoted a post solely to that topic, I’m keeping an eye out for one.) I think that my website has a lot to offer permanent advertisers, but I am not sure how best to break into that field. Any advice that you care to share would be much appreciated.

    • The picks and shovels industry offers a great opportunity in any industry. Every business in the insurance world wants more customers and leads. That’s why they are always buying advertising. Your goal is to show them the value you provide and offer them a fair deal.

  3. At first I was doing this all wrong. I really like the idea of selling tools and solutions to network marketers. I’d be making more money on top of the amount I make on my website already. I also might get more customers in the meantime too. I found tons of great tips in this article.
