PartyLite Business Review

What is the PartyLite business? And how does it work?  PartyLite is a direct selling company. It is affiliated with Blythe Industries, which is a publicly traded company. The company manufactures and sells candles, bath and body care products, air care decor, candle accessories, home fragrances and much more. According to the company’s website, there are approximately 68,000 independent consultants in 14 countries. The company has been in business since 1973, so this marks their 40th year in business.

PartyLite is a proud member of the Direct Selling Association. As of 2010, the company has world-wide sales in excess of $675 million. The company’s U.S. Candle facility produces more than 200 million candles per year. It cost nothing to join the company. The company is headquartered in Plymouth, Massachusetts.

The Business Model

The PartyLite business uses the multi-level marketing business model to sell its products and services. Instead of having a traditional sales-force, it has a large number of independent consultants who promote the products via word-of-mouth. This is also known as direct sales or face-to-face sales.

In most cases, the independent consultants find the customer themselves and take the order, while PartyLite processes and ships the order. PartyLite compensates the independent consultants based upon their individual sales and group sales. Distributors earn retail profits and commissions. The PartyLite business is promoted mostly through home parties, similar to a Tupperware party.

Getting Started with PartyLite

When people join the PartyLite business, they get started by making a list of friends and family. Once they’ve finished building a name list, they contact their prospects in an attempt to schedule a home-party. A home-party is when someone (a host) invites over their friends and family members so someone else can share the PartyLite products and business opportunity.

In most cases, the host receives some form of compensation for hosting the party. Usually it consists of free products or a cash gift, based upon the total sales from the evening. The purpose of the home-plan is to generate retail sales, find new customers, find new distributors and get referrals for future home-parties.

How to Succeed

To succeed in the PartyLite business you need to do two things. First and foremost, you need to find lots of customers. All businesses need lots of customers. At a minimum, you should find 50-100 personal customers who consistently order products from you, month-after-month. When you do this, you can earn a substantial immediate income from your retail profits and a residual income for the repeat sales. Some independent consultants make a substantial five to six figure income from retail sales alone.

The second way to earn money is to sponsor new independent PartyLite consultants. You can do this by sharing the business opportunity with lots of prospects. Multi-level marketing is simply a numbers game. The more prospects you share your business opportunity with, the more people you will personally sponsor. Also, if you treat your customers well, many of them will upgrade and become independent consultants. Most people fail in network marketing because they don’t sell enough retail sales or sponsor enough downline distributors.

My Opinion about PartyLite

From what I can tell, PartyLite has a great reputation. It has a nice company website, plenty of training materials and great products. Your key to success is to find a successful independent PartyLite consultant and join their team. Make sure you follow their advice and training tips. If you can do that, you will improve your chances of success in the PartyLite business.

I believe the PartyLite business is a great business opportunity for anyone willing to work hard, find lots of customers and sponsor lots of new distributors. If you aren’t willing to do that, you shouldn’t join any network marketing company. PartyLite is by no means a get rich quick type of company. It requires hard work and persistence. But if you produce good results, you will receive a nice compensation.

Before you get started, do your due diligence. I’d start by visiting the PartyLite website. If you decide it’s the right company for you, search for a successful distributor in your local area. Next, get started and consistently work your business for two to five years. Find lots of customers and focus on selling the products. If people express interest in joining the business, sign them up as an independent consultant and help them get started.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, I like the PartyLite business and think it’s a viable business opportunity. It has everything you look for in a network marketing company: a proven track record, great products at a reasonable price, a great leadership team, strong financial backing and lots of distributor resources. Although I’m not personally involved in the company, I have a friend that is. I’ve purchased a few products from her and enjoyed them. She’s happy with her business and all she does is focus on selling the products. That’s good enough for me. It should be good enough for you too.

On a side note, if you have ever been involved with the PartyLite business, I would love to hear your story. Please share your success story or product testimonial with the rest of our online community by leaving a comment below.

  1. I believe I will pass this post onto my wife. She just loves candles and everything about them. I really don’t see myself being all that passionate about something such as this, but I could bet she would be. PartyLite does sound like a great MLM to work with. I am going to do a little more research on them and the amount of products they have and their prices. You review gave some great insight. Thank you.
