Nutrition For Life: History, Review and Cool Facts

Based in Houston, Texas, Nutrition For Life offers a wide range of products that complement the name of the company.

You can find dietary supplements, purified water, meal replacements and many other products that are geared towards the health and wellness of people.

The company has had its share of controversy. Much of that came when the infomercial guru by the name of Kevin Trudeau joined the Nutrition For Life system.

In today’s post, I am going to take you through the history of the company. I will also provide a review of the current Nutrition For Life system.

Lastly, I am going to give you some cool facts I found during my research of this company. Do keep in mind that I am not affiliated with the company in any way.

Nutrition For Life History

The history behind the beginning of Nutrition For Life can be somewhat confusing. As I researched the company’s history, I found myself in what seemed like a never-ending maze. I believe I have put the history puzzle together, but if any of you reading this believe I am mistaken, please correct me.

In 1984, a man by the name of Greg Caton founded Consumer Express. Consumer Express manufactured nutritional supplements, and Greg brought in David Bertrand and his sister-in-law, Jana Mitchum.

The name was changed to Nutrition Express, and there were several independent companies under that name. Two of these were Nutrition Express of Colorado and Nutrition Express of Utah.

Bertrand and Mitchum, with the help of a well-known individual named Kevin Trudeau, made a buy-out of Greg Caton and merged the two companies. They changed the name to Nutrition For Life. This was all done in 1993.

Caton believed he was a victim of fraud in this business deal and wrote a book detailing it. After getting sued by Trudeau, Caton withdrew the book.

Kevin Trudeau became a master marketer in promoting Nutrition For Life. He started what was known as Trudeau Marketing Group.

He teamed up with Nightingale-Conant in personal development, and he began developing infomercials selling his own books and self-help promotions, along with selling Nutrition For Life products and the opportunity. With Kevin Trudeau as a prime spokesperson, the company grew substantially.

They opened offices all over the world, and people were flocking in to join the opportunity. From 1994 through 1996, Nutrition For Life was at the top of the MLM mountain. Stockholders were happy and many distributors were doing well.

But the lawsuits came. Shareholders claimed Trudeau and Nutrition For Life were running an illegal pyramid scheme.

The SEC started investigations. The FTC was investigating Trudeau for his infomercials and the selling of his Mega Memory tapes to Nutrition For Life distributors. No actions were taken against Nutrition For Life, and it was business as usual. They even added long distance calling services to its product base.

Nutrition For Life has broken ties with Kevin Trudeau. As a matter of fact, he is serving time in Federal Prison for violating court orders over some of the books he has written. But many of Trudeau’s books are still being offered via infomercials as he was the King of the infomercial.

Company Review

The situation with Kevin Trudeau instilled a bad mark on Nutrition For Life, but the fact is, they are still a multilevel marketing company that essentially sells products that are manufactured by others and have the Nutrition For Life brand on them.

There are many distributors who are still doing quite well selling the wide range of products and business opportunity.

Using a 4 by 7 matrix compensation plan, distributors are able to earn a nice income as long as they follow the basic success plans the company has published; many of which were developed by Kevin Trudeau.

Cool Facts

As I researched this company, I ran across several cool facts you might be interested in. They are:

• It is a public company on the NASDAQ stock exchange. It was originally under NFLI. In 2000, the company was reorganized as a subsidiary of Advanced Nutraceuticals Inc. They were moved on NASDAQ to ANII and ANIIW.

• Two of the highest selling locations are the United Kingdom and the Philippines.

• Kevin Trudeau was a spokesperson for the Global Information Network.

• In March of 2014, Trudeau was sentenced to 10-years in Federal Prison for criminal contempt.

• Trudeau’s books are still sold via infomercials. Some of his titles include:
