In today’s post, I’d like to take a few moments to educate you about how to become a network marketing professional. This advice will benefit anyone trying to create a full-time income via network marketing.
What is a Professional?
Let’s take a moment to identify what a professional is. Here’s a definition I found online:
a person engaged in a specified activity, especially a sport or branch of the performing arts, as a main paid occupation rather than as a pastime.
In my own words, a professional is someone who thinks of their job or business as a career. They take immense pride in what they do. They are good at what they do. They are the best of the best. They are the opposite of an amateur.
What is a Network Marketing Professional?
Based off the definition I shared above, I would identify a network marketing professional as someone who is 100% committed and serious about the network marketing industry. They hold themselves to a higher standard than the average rep.
Everything they say and do is honest and reputable. They treat people well. They have specialized knowledge, and they are the best of the best.
They are the people who rise to the top in almost every company in our industry. They do certain things in a certain way.
Qualities of a Network Marketing Professional
To elaborate, here are a few qualities of Network Marketing Professionals.
# 1: Integrity
Network Marketing Professionals have a high level of integrity. They are trustworthy. They do what they say and say what they do. Their word is their bond.
# 2: Big Picture Thinker
Network Marketing Professionals have VISION. They focus on the big picture. They share their vision with others whenever possible. They help others see the big picture. They think about where they are headed.
# 3: Loyalty
Network Marketing Professionals are loyal to their company, but more importantly, they are loyal to their team, especially their leaders. They make sure people are taken care of.
# 4: Problem Solvers
Network Marketing Professional solve problems. They understand the number of problems and size of problems they can solve will dictate the size of their commission check.
# 5: Highly Skilled
Professionals learn everything they can about their industry. They are experts in their industry. They develop their skills over a period of five to ten years. They are “masters” at what they do.
# 6: Positive Mental Attitude
Network Marketing Professionals maintain a positive mental attitude. They don’t get sucked into negativity. They focus on solutions. They look for the good in others. They have self-confidence, a high level of belief, and help others develop the same.
# 7: Service Oriented
Finally, Network Marketing Professionals are service oriented. They are servant leaders. They put others first. They genuinely care about others. They help other people get what they want.
How to Become One
Most people can never become a professional athlete or professional actor, but anyone can become a network marketing professional if they choose to. It begins with a decision.
You become a network marketing professional when you decide (to yourself) that you are going to succeed in this profession, no matter what.
Here are a few simple things you should do.
# 1: Find a Mentor
One of the fastest ways to become a professional is to work with one. Look for someone in your plugged in upline who has the skills, values, and success in the business you desire. Ask them to be your mentor. Humble yourself enough to follow their lead and do what they teach you. This will shorten your learning curve.
# 2: Attend Events
Events are where people make the BIG decisions in this business. Attend every company event and even several industry events per year. This will enable you to rub elbows with top earners and learn how to think bigger. Plus it will be motivational.
# 3: Daily Personal Development
The best way to grow is to learn. Never stop learning. Invest time and money daily in your own personal development. Keep in mind your business will only grow as much as you do.
# 4: Association
Associate with other successful distributors in your company. Learn from them. Mastermind. Whatever you do, don’t let the struggling reps or people who quit the business influence you. Spend time, whenever possible, with the movers and shakers in your company (and the industry).
# 5: Learn by Doing
Get in the trenches and stay there. Avoid management mode. Roll up your sleeves and get to work. Stay busy retailing and recruiting. Learn by doing. All out massive action mode is where the magic happens.
The bottom line is to be a student of your business and act AS IF you have MILLIONS of dollars invested in your business. Adopt that mindset and there is no doubt in my mind you will become a network marketing professional and achieve massive success.
Reasons to Do It
There are many reasons to become a professional, especially a network marketing professional. Here are a few reasons that come to mind.
First off, it pays well. Amateurs typically don’t get paid much, but professionals can earn MILLIONS of dollars. This applies to most industries.
The next reason to be a professional is WHY NOT DO IT? If you’re going to do something as a profession, why not be the best you can be? It’s better to be at the top of your game than be average. What do you think?
Next, when you become a Network Marketing Professional, you will attract quality people into your business. Leaders want to collaborate with leaders. Professionals want to collaborate with professionals. A stud does not want to work with a dud.
What Others are Saying
In his book Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell’s research showed it takes approximately 10,000 hours of practice to reach the expert level at anything. With four hours a day of practice, that adds up to about seven years. That formula applies to Network Marketing as well. It’s going to take about seven years for you to become world-class. The good news is, the profession is very forgiving and you can earn a lot of money while you’re becoming an expert. The trick is not to get complacent; don’t stop learning while you’re earning.
