Network Marketing Journal

What is a network marketing journal? And how can you benefit by having one? I define a MLM journal as a personal journal about your experience in your network marketing business. Think of it as a diary. When you have a diary, you write weekly or daily entries about your life. You write about “high points” and “low points” of your day. You write down your “secrets.” With a MLM journal, you do the same thing, except you write about your network marketing experiences.

Journaling is a very effective way to improve your skill-set. Also, it’s a great way to “remember” past events, successful experiences, key accomplishments, and even your low-points. In case you don’ know this, one of the greatest ways to learn is to analyze and reflect upon your past experiences. Think about how cool it would be to have your own personal journal covering your entire time in the network marketing industry. Wouldn’t it be nice to “re-experience” your early days in the industry? I think so.

How do you get started with your own MLM journal? It’s simple. All you need to do is a visit an office supply store and pick up a blank journal. It shouldn’t cost more than $10. Heck, you could even use a simple three-ring binder or notebook. You could even type your journal into a Microsoft Word document. It doesn’t really matter what format you use. Just find a method you are comfortable with and stick with it.

Are there any alternatives to a MLM journal? Sure. You could create your own blog instead. Rather than writing in a journal, you could create your own blog and write daily or weekly entries. You can cover the same topics, but share your experiences with the rest of the world. If you are an open person, this is a good option. You can also turn your experiences into online profits. If you are a successful blogger, you could build a large following. I think blogging is a great way to improve your network marketing business. However, if you are a private person, a “personal journal” is a much better option.

A network marketing journal is a very valuable resource. Although I really don’t know any successful distributors who kept a journal of their network marketing experiences, I’m sure many distributors wish they did. When I deployed with the Army to Iraq and Kosovo, I kept a journal. These two journals are two of my most prized possessions. I wish I would have kept a network marketing journal during the past eleven years. The information would be priceless.

You should have your own network marketing journal for many reasons. First and foremost, you need to reflect on your experiences. Having a journal is a great way to reflect on past experiences. You can think about what you wanted to happen, what actually happened and what you would do differently the next time around. This enables you to improve your skill-set and be “better” in the future. It allows you to learn from your mistakes and continuously improve. When you write things down (in a journal) it’s much easier to remember past events, than if you simply rely on your memory. If you don’t write things down, you will forget many things.

Another benefit of having your own network marketing journal is it could eventually become a manuscript for a book or course. If you end up succeeding in network marketing, you can take all the information from your network marketing journal and transform it into a book manuscript. You could potentially have hundreds or thousands of pages detailing your network marketing experience. This would allow you to turn your experience into an asset that generates revenue, a book.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, I believe all network marketers should have their own personal network marketing journal. To get started, all they need to do is purchase a notebook or journal at an office supply store. Next, they need to make consistent journal entries, either one a day or once per week. From time-to-time, you need to take a few minutes and read your journal entries so you can evaluate your experiences. This is also known as “reflection.” Most successful entrepreneurs spend several hours per month “reflecting” on the previous month. You should do the same thing.

  1. I guess its the writer and book nerd in me, but I think this is a wonderful idea! Just like you said, its a great way to keep up with your network marketing experiences, and to reflect on what you did or didn’t do in the past.
I am also slightly ashamed to say that it is something that I still have yet to put into practice. I think I will make that one of my business goals: to get a journal and start keeping up with my experiences.

  2. Scientists do this. Workers in nearly every other profession keep record of their work, so why not MLM business people? It is a nice way to reflect on where you have been, as well as keep records of what works and what does not. It is also a good idea to record goals and daily/weekly/monthly to-do lists in a journal.

Your idea of making a blog out of your journal is a good one, too. Why not add another income stream while you are tracking your daily activities, right?

  3. A journal can be very encouraging. In moments when it feels futile to continue, like treading water, I can look back ata journal and see that I’ve changed more than I thought I had, improved more than I thought I had, got more professional than I was the year before, and get a reality check that’s motivating.

  4. I am in full agreement with keeping a daily journal/diary. The last part of your blog post is one of the best reasons.

Personally, from my past writings, I have used them to write a book that comes in both paperback and Kindle. It was all from “journal” entries. This book has thus far netted me over $8,000.

This could also be done for someone who is keeping track of their MLM network experiences. It could be used as a textbook or learning device for those who are joining. It could just be a life experience book, but another way to gain some extra income.

It always makes great sense to keep track on paper. Our minds forget details, but if you wrote them, forgetting is not an issue.

Have you considered making a book with your blog posts? Just a thought.

      1. I believe it would do quite well. You may even want to contact publishers first about the idea, because there is a huge want for network marketing books. At this moment, I have an actor completing the audio on one book I wrote and published that has sold well. Like network marketing, books are a great way to gain a residual income. With the proper marketing, a person can do very well.

I recommend that everyone, no matter how dull you think your business is, keep a journal. What may seem dull to you may help someone else succeed. If nothing else, your kids and grandkids will have material to read to know more about you.
