Today, I want to talk about MLM Motivation and share some things with you that you need to do to stay motivated about your network marketing business. I should begin by telling you that I truly believe that motivation comes from within. I believe that you are either self-motivated or you aren’t.
I also realize that some people can motivate other people temporarily, but for the other person to stay motivated it is a personal choice. For example, your boss can motivate you to do your job by threatening to fire you. Your sponsor or upline can temporarily motivate you by giving you a pep speech, putting someone on your team for you, or by having you attend an event.
When any of these things happen, you might be motivated temporarily, but that motivation will fade. For you to stay motivated and continue to work, it’s up to you!
On the other side of the coin, I realize that most people who have jobs aren’t motivated to wake up early, fight traffic, and go to work every day, but they do it anyway. So, you don’t have to be motivated to do something (although it does help). Many people also do things out of habit or necessity.
What happens to most people in our industry is they come home from a long day at work in their job, they eat dinner with their family, crack open a beer, and then sit down on the couch and watch television. Before they know it, three or four hours have passed by and it’s time for bed! Can you relate to that?
If you want more motivation in your MLM Business, I can offer you some helpful tips.
First and foremost, you need to clearly define your WHY. You need to spend some time and think about WHY you joined the business to begin with. What motivates you? What are you most passionate about? What are you ultimately trying to accomplish? I truly believe that if you have a big enough why, you will stay motivated day in and day out. You need a why that sets your world on fire.
Another tip about motivation is something I learned in the book “The Magic of Thinking Big.” If you haven’t read that book yet, order a copy today and READ IT. In the book Dr. David Schwarz mentions that “action cures fear.” He gives the advice to people to “let your actions control your emotions rather than letting your emotions control your actions” (paraphrased).
This really is million dollar advice if you take the time to think about it. I’ve found from personal experience that when I am feeling tired, down, sad or depressed, I do very little to move my business forward. However, once I take action my belief goes up, my motivation skyrockets, and I become happy because I am working toward my goals.
I truly believe that if you do something to build your network marketing business every single day you will automatically stay motivated. It’s hard not to. However, if you let your fears, poor work ethic or bad results keep you down, there’s a good a good chance that you will never build your business.
Just remember, the best way to stay motivated is to get off your butt and do something. Spend 30-60 minutes minimum on your business every single day. Focus on the money producing activities. Take action. Realize that motivation comes from within. Rather than letting your feelings control your actions and motivation, let your actions control your feelings and motivation.
