MLM Careers: How to Be an Employee in the MLM Industry

Today, I’d like to share my thoughts on some of the most common MLM Careers.

First and foremost, network marketing is a HUGE industry, doing many billions of dollars in revenue each year. Hundreds of thousands of people have JOBS working as employees with MLM Companies.

If you like the industry but have no desire to be an independent distributor, you should consider being an employee with a network marketing company.

To the best of my knowledge, there are over 1,000 network marketing companies doing business in the United States alone. Many of these companies offer great careers with great benefits and lots of upward mobility.

Top MLM Careers

After searching the internet high and low, I’ve come up with my own list of MLM Careers. Please browse through this list to see if there might be a good fit for you.

Independent Rep

I had to include this option in my list, even though it’s not a W-2 employee position.

Your first option out of the many different MLM Careers is to be an independent distributor. In my opinion, this is the best option because you can earn what you are worth. There are no earnings caps and no boss, and you are an independent contractor, not an employee. You are in business for yourself but not by yourself.

Sales & Marketing

Just about every MLM Company has a sales and marketing department. You could get a job as a sales manager, sales trainer, marketing specialist, or sales director. Eventually you could work your way up to the VP of Sales & Marketing.

Human Resources

While some network marketing companies outsource their human resource department, some keep it in house. You could find a job in the Human Resources department for an up and coming or established network marketing company. Here are a few job options:

  • Employment Coordinator
  • Human Resources Director
  • Human Resources Coordinator
  • Corporate Recruiter
  • Employee Relations Manager
  • Benefits Specialist
  • Director of Employee Experience

Logistics is big business. This includes supply, transportation, and maintenance. Just about every MLM Company has these departments. If this is your area of expertise, consider becoming an employee with a MLM Company. Example jobs might include:

  • Maintenance Manager
  • Warehouse Manager
  • Forklift Operator
  • Shipping Department
  • Vice President Supply Chain

All companies that make and/or distribute products rely heavily on supply chain and logistics employees to keep those goods moving across the end-to-end supply chain. A career opportunity that’s growing at a rate of 7% annually—and with a median annual salary of $74,590—the logistics industry offers a range of job opportunities ranging from entry level to senior management, according to the BLS.

Every MLM Company I know of has their own legal department. You could pursue a career in the legal niche with a respectable network marketing company. Here are a few options:

  • Legal Counsel
  • Legal Operations Manager
  • Administrative Assistant
  • Legal Compliance
  • Intellectual Property Coordinator

Research & Development (R&D)

Most network marketing companies have their own R&D Department. If this is your area of expertise, you might want to consider seeking out a MLM Company to join as an employee. You could be a:

  • Scientist
  • Director of Innovation
  • Product Design Engineer

Customer Service

Every MLM Company has a customer service department. If you enjoy customer service, consider joining the MLM Industry as an employee with a MLM Company.

  • Customer Service Rep
  • Director of Client Services
  • VP of Customer Service
  • Telemarketer

Customer Service Representatives made a median salary of $34,710 in 2019. The best-paid 25 percent made $43,980 that year, while the lowest-paid 25 percent made $27,630.

Information Technology

MLM Companies need an IT department. Some outsource it. Others run it internally. You may be able to get a job with:

  • SEO
  • Website Design
  • Cyber Security
  • Data Analyst
  • Systems Administrator

As of January 2020, there were nearly 3 million employees in the U.S. information sector, with just over 1 million in 2019 alone. The IT sector employment includes professionals from various sub-fields, such as, technology manufacturing, telecommunications and internet services, software publishing, and many others.

Just about every MLM Company has an Executive team. These are the Vice Presidents and Senior Vice Presidents. These positions can be very lucrative financially.

Another option is to start your own MLM Company and be a company owner. This might not appeal to everyone, but the potential is unlimited if you have the capital, drive, and a good business idea.

My final option is to work with a company that supports or supplies the network marketing industry with ingredients or services. This might include manufacturers, UPS, FEDEX, or any company supporting the network marketing industry.

Before becoming an employee with any company (network marketing or different) make sure you do your due diligence. Find out what you can about the company so you can make an informed decision.

Many of the established network marketing companies will have a great support system, good benefits, and lots of upward mobility. On the other hand, some of the younger companies might not offer these things yet, but they may offer profit sharing or the option to earn a partial interest in the company’s ownership. Both options are worth considering.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, these are some example MLM Careers.

While the list might not be 100% inclusive, it is a good starting point if you are thinking about being an employee with a network marketing company.

Many time-tested, large network marketing companies have been in business for decades. They often provide great benefits, great career options, and a great place to work.

If you are looking for a new career path, consider being an employee with a network marketing company.

  1. This is the first time I’m seeing this other aspects of our industry. Have always considered network marketing to offer Opportunity to only independent distributors. Great share thanks very much.

  2. I believe the sales, marketing, or customer service positions would be the easiest to attain. Just about every company is looking for people with these skills.

  3. I really like the IT department ideas. Computers, the internet, and technology are here to stay. If you can get a degree or certifications in one of these areas of expertise, you have a great career with a network marketing company or regular employer.

  4. You listed so many MLM Careers, it’s hard to pick which one would be the best for me. I currently work in IT, so I’d probably go that route with one of these companies.

  5. Being an Executive with one of these MLM Companies sounds like a great career. I like the idea that a young employee could join a younger company and work their way up through the management positions and eventually become an executive.

  6. Interesting tips you shared about being an employee via MLM companies worldwide. Marketing as you said is a good skill to win over our employers to secure an employment badge in any of the aforementioned MLM companies.

  7. I’ll be honest, it has never crossed my mind to be an employee for a network marketing company. This is a great idea though! Most companies do have lots of options when it comes to different departments, and kinds of employees they are looking for. I will say the MLM that I am with has amazing customer service. This is definitely something to think about.

    1. It definitely is a possibility. The larger the MLM Company the more possibilities there are. Just like with a traditional company. What matters most is you find a company that values your worth, pays you well, treats you fairly, and has plenty of upward mobility.
