MLM Capture Page: How to Get Better Results and Conversions

What are the important elements of a good MLM Capture Page? And what can you do to get better conversions on your capture page?

In this article, I’d like to share some of my best tips on how to build a “high converting” capture page for your network marketing business. I want you to have a MLM Capture Page that gets noticed and converts well.

10 Tips to Develop a Winning MLM Capture Page

There are many major and minor things you must do to create a MLM Capture Page that works. In reality, you never really know what will work best until you test your results. Listed below are 10 things you can do to improve your MLM Capture Page.

# 1: A Simple Layout

I’ve personally found that the simpler you can make things on your capture page, the better off you will be. You don’t want lots of bells and whistles that overwhelm or distract your visitor, or cause the page to load slowly.

You don’t need a bunch of fancy graphics either. Keep the page clean and keep it simple. Make sure your MESSAGE is your primary focus. At least 90% of the content on your page should be text.

Make it clear what the page is about and what you want the visitor to do. Limit the amount of copy, images, media, and links to only what’s necessary, and organize your content in a proper structure so objects are in logical order. It’s especially important that the call-to-action (CTA) is as crystal clear as possible for the visitor.

# 2: Good Color Choices

I believe that red, white, blue and/or blue and orange are the best colors to use. Red is very pleasing to the eye. So is orange. I’ve also done well with black and white capture pages.

My best advice is to keep your capture page to no more than two or three colors.

You don’t want your capture page to look like a rainbow of colors. Test out your capture page on different devices (cell phone, tablet, laptop) to see how the color layout looks. It should look sharp, professional, and easy to see.

According to recent research, 92.6% of people say that visual dimension is the top influencing factor affecting a purchase decision. By harnessing the power of color, your business has the potential to be even more successful, particularly in regards to conversion optimization.

It is important that the heading for your capture be straight to the point

# 3: Great Headline

Your headline is the most important element of your capture page, as I see it. You want a catchy headline that grabs your visitor’s attention and piques their curiosity.

I’ve found that “Discover, How To, and Learn More” are great ways to start out a headline.

Keep your headline to one sentence. I’ve found that 7 to 14 words in your headline works best. Keep it simple and to the point and make sure your visitors know “what’s in it for them.”

Make sure your headline is in large font and bold, so it really stands out. The real purpose of your headline is to get your website visitor to read the rest of your content.

It is important that the heading for your capture be straight to the point and provides specific and exact information about what you are offering to your prospects.

The heading should also be bold and clear enough to be seen by any user visiting your page.

# 4: Give Three to Five Benefits via Bullet Points

Ideally, you want to share three to five benefits about what you have to offer, in bullet point format.

Most people focus on features. That is a big mistake. Have short bullet point statements that list the benefits about what you do or about what you are offering. Remember, features tell and benefits sell.

Keep your bullet points short and simple. Put the most important benefit first, the second biggest benefit next, and so forth.

Make sure you tell your audience what’s in it for them.

When creating your lead capture page content, use a few bullet points here and there to highlight some of the reasons WHY people should signup.

Don’t overload each bullet point with too much info either. And use them in the right places.

capture pages need to have the right balance of ask and reward

# 5: An Irresistible Offer

Nothing beats the offer! You should give away a free report, video series, webinar, boot camp, eBook or something with a very high perceived value.

Folks are getting smarter these days and they are reluctant to give away their email. Make sure your offer is so irresistible they HAVE to opt in.

Taking huge percent off the price of a product without altering its benefits increases the customer’s perception of value. Companies also use sales promotions to achieve other non–revenue-generating objectives. When a new business launches, for instances, promotions are a way to attract customers away from competitors. So offering irresistible offers are so much important for MLM lead capture page.

# 6: Simple Opt In Form

If you ask for anything more than the person’s email, you will lower your conversion rate. Don’t ask for the phone number or mailing address unless it is absolutely necessary. If at all possible, just ask for their email. Less is better.

You need a lead capture form to capture leads. A common question with regards to the form is how many fields it should contain. This depends on what you are offering, as well as who you are targeting and why, but in most cases the name and email are sufficient. Fewer form fields are better, generally.

# 7: Video or Audio

Audio or video can help with conversion, but you definitely need to test it. If you use a video, make sure it looks professional, plays automatically, and is no more than two-minutes long. In your video, introduce yourself, talk about your offer, the benefits of what you are offering them, and tell them what you want them to do next.

Videos are a powerful tool to increase engagement, quickly create connection, and get more conversions on your pages. Research shows that including a video on a landing page can increase conversion rates by 80%. Rather than just telling your audience about the amazing features and benefits of your product, video allows you to show them.

visitors are confused or turned off by your CTA no shot of them ever becoming leads

# 8: Call to Action

You must give your website visitor a call to action if you expect them to do anything. Tell them EXACTLY what you want them to do next. An example call to action might say:

Type in your name and email right now to get immediate access to our free 20-minute webinar about starting your own home based business!

Type in your email and click submit to get access to my free 7-Day Boot Camp!

Be specific and tell them what you want them to do and WHY!

# 9: Privacy, Terms of Use, and Earnings Disclaimer

If you are using paid advertising to promote your capture page, you need a terms of use, privacy policy, and earnings disclaimer statement (or link). This is a must have, so you protect yourself legally.

Few people will ever click on these links, but they do give you additional credibility. Most online advertisers require you to have these policies in place if you plan on using their advertising services.

It is important that as a marketer you include a link to “privacy policy” or “terms and conditions”.

This will go a long way in soothing your visitors’ anxiety levels and encourage them to actually convert.

# 10: Mobile Friendly

We live in a cell phone world. A large percentage of internet traffic comes from cell phones and devices, not computers. Make sure your capture page is mobile friendly. Test it out on different tablets and smart phones to make sure it looks professional and is formatted properly.

A survey by IAcquire and SurveyMonkey found that 70 percent of mobile searches result in action in just one hour, and 40 percent of users will choose another result if their first choice isn’t mobile friendly.

Bonus Tip: Traffic

The final component of a good capture page is TRAFFIC. Without a good amount of traffic, you won’t know if your capture page is good or not.

You can have the best capture page in the world, but if no one knows about it, it won’t do you any good.

Once you set up your capture page, you should send minimum 1,000 targeted visitors to it to determine what type of conversion rate to expect. Once you’ve done this, you can start doing some small split-testing and look for ways to improve your conversions, before you roll out your big advertising campaigns.

My Advice

When it comes to creating your own MLM Capture Pages, you can hire an expert to create one for you for about $50 to $100. This is a great investment, as I see it. Leverage someone else’s expertise and be smart about it. You can find someone on,, or There are also capture page software programs you can purchase.

Key Takeaways

These are some important elements of a good MLM Capture Page that I’ve learned on my own during the past 10+ years online.

It’s important to know that you must continuously test and improve your MLM Capture Page until you find your winner. Keep making small adjustments to your capture page and see what type of effect it has on conversions.

Keep the winners, ditch the losers, and keep testing. Get started and never stop testing.

Within a few months you should have a capture page that converts at 15%-30% or even higher. 20% is a good goal to shoot for. Anything above 30% is exceptional in my opinion.

  1. Using a capture page to build your list is of the utmost importance. Once you have a page built, all you need to do is keep testing and tweaking one thing at a time until you find something that converts well for you. In the beginning, you won’t know what will convert well, but if you split test and track everything, you will master lead conversion within a few short months.

  2. I’ve been using different capture pages for about eight years now. I don’t even have a regular website or blog like most online network marketers do. The beauty of a capture page is that it is simple to set up and then you can spend all your time on marketing: building your list.

    1. Good for you, Chloe. If I knew back then what I knew now, I would never have started a regular blog or website. I just would have had capture pages and spent all my time building a list.

  3. Thanks for teaching me about a capture page, Chuck. I never even really knew much about this concept of building your business online until I read your article. Hopefully, I can follow this strategy to start building my own team.

    1. It is a very easy strategy to follow, Joel. Just remember that the money is in the list and you should spend most of your time building a list. If you can do that you can make money on complete auto-pilot.

  4. I get the best conversion rates when I only ask for an email and when I only use a headline. I try to keep it as simple as possible and I don’t use video or audio either.

  5. I’m just starting out with capture pages and promoting them on Facebook. So far, I’m averaging about a 19% opt in rate and I’m paying about $2.20 per lead. Is that good?

  6. I’ve found that keeping it simple works best. The less words you use the better. Only ask for the email, not the name. You can use a video or not. Blue, orange and red are good colors for a capture page.

    1. Those are all great tips, Sam. I’ve never experimented between using the name and not using the name on my capture pages, so I will have to give that a try. I like the blue, orange and red colors that you mentioned. And the fewer words you can use the better off you will be.

    2. Sam good insight here. I do think that simple is a lot better because it makes sure that the visitor is not overwhelmed. When there is less to focus on they can tune right into whatever it is you want them to see versus searching and ultimately clicking out. I do also think that just asking for the email is best because some people are hesitant about sharing their personal information and would like to keep it a little informal until they make a decision to get more involved.

  7. Great information about capture pages, Chuck. I’ve been in the industry for over 20 years now and have never even thought about building a business online. To most folks, it’s more of a distraction than it is a benefit. There is so much conflicting information online and it takes most people a long time (at least a couple years) to figure things out. Most people simply aren’t willing to do that.

    1. Old school MLM is still alive and well. The key to success is to find strategies that work best for you and then take massive action. You can do that online or offline. Personally, I prefer online because I can leverage myself and work smart.

  8. These are some simple, yet effective tips to set up your own MLM Capture Page. Fortunately, there are plenty of software programs you can buy to build your capture page. Or, you can hire a programmer on elance to help you out.

  9. I am exploring the video concept myself. I’ve been doing some research, and the latest video marketing statistics are rather staggering. For instance, according to comScore, 45.4% of internet users will view a minimum of 32 videos online each month, or 100,000,000 viewer each day. 20% of those viewers click on a new video in 10 seconds or less. Although online video viewing is largely for entertainment, a significant amount of viewers–enough to pay attention to–are looking for how-to information or they are wanting to buy a product. In addition, Tremor Video reports that 75% of online viewers interact with video advertising each month

    1. Good points, Amy. Video marketing is powerful, but your videos need a clear purpose and they need to be short and to the point. People simply have a very limited attention span. When it comes to videos on your MLM Capture page, I suggest keeping your videos to 20 or seconds at most.

      1. I agree, Chuck, as that is the window for capturing or losing someone’s attention. A quick video on a capture page should hook someone to want more. Entrepreneur Online has some great tips for creating a video at to make the most of those 20 seconds, whether your are creating a video for email or your capture page.

  10. I have about five different capture pages that I use to build my network marketing business and other businesses. Here are a few tips I recommend for creating a good MLM Capture Page.

    # 1 The shorter the better
    # 2 Use a video
    # 3 Give away something for free that is awesome

I simply use a headline, two or three benefits, a video, a call to action and I normally give away a free eBook or a 10 minute coaching session.

    Just my thoughts.

    1. That is a very good strategy, Greg. I have gotten the best conversion rates when I give away a free eBook. I’ve tried other things too, but that is normally what converts the best for me. I’ve always used videos and not used videos and gotten the same results with both. I think the less words you can use on your MLM Capture Page the better off you will be.

  11. Simplicity is always good when you are trying to grasp the attention of others. People cannot generally focus on a bunch of things at one time. It complicates and confuses things and distracts people. People do not want to have to work hard to figure out what you are about. It should be presented in a manner where it is obvious and appealing. Thus, the catch phrase used should relate to your business and generates interest and curiosity so that people go on to find out more about you and what you have to offer.

    1. Very good point. When you only give your prospect the option to type in their name and email or hit the back arrow, you really improve your chances of success. The less options you give them the better off you are.

  12. Crafting your MLM capture page is just like making a landing page for any website. You want visitors to have a clear idea what it is they can expect, whatever corner of your website they are visiting. People love lists, so long as they aren’t exhaustive. So, I think “A list of …” is a good headline too.

    1. Giving away a free report, a white paper or a “top 10 list” has always worked well for me. The offer is the most important part of the MLM Capture page. You need something they just have to have. So it must have a high perceived value.

      1. This is also a good way to obtain email contact information for building your list. Make sure your white paper or “Top Ten” offers something different, or in a different way, otherwise you are just like everybody else. You have 7-15 seconds to capture someone’s attention, so the first few words are critical. Great starts like Free… Solutions for… The Best…. The Only… Exclusive… Proven… Premier… The Leading…
        Get creative to get attention.

        1. Being creative and providing value. That’s one of the quickest ways to achieve success with your MLM Capture Page, or with anything else.

          Great comment.
