Today, I’d like to share some simple advice on how to generate MLM Leads by wearing a MLM Button. This is a simple lead generation strategy I learned from Herbalife reps. It’s something ANYONE can do.
One of the biggest challenges in network marketing is reps not having enough leads to share their products and business opportunity with. Prospects are everywhere, but most reps are scared to death to approach people, especially strangers, normally because they don’t know what to say OR they are scared to be rejected.
How to Generate Leads with a MLM Button
Wearing a MLM button with a short marketing message on it is a simple way to strike up conversations with prospects and overcome your fears. Buttons are a great icebreaker. You’ve probably seen an MLM Rep wearing a button before. It might have said something like:
- Lose Weight Today, Ask Me How!
- Got CBD, Ask Me About It
- Be Your Own Boss. Ask Me How!
- Start Your Own Business. Ask Me How.
- Earn an Extra $1,000 per Month. Ask Me How.
- Or countless other things
Wearing a button is simple to do. Anyone can do it. That’s why it works.
I suggest you order some buttons for yourself and for your team. You can find them on eBay, Amazon or even have some made at your local print shop. Check with your MLM Company too. They might have some for sale.
Customized buttons are a valuable, yet cost-effective advertising tool. With a clever design, customized buttons can easily increase brand awareness.

Get one of the large 3-inch buttons because they are much easier to see and read than a smaller one-inch or two-inch button.
Wear your button when you are out and about living life and running errands. Don’t wear it at your job. Put it on after you leave work and when you leave the house on the weekends.
Buttons are also known as “walking billboards” because once they are pinned to shirt label or bag they can travel anywhere!

When you see someone staring at your MLM Button, you have two choices. If you are an extravert, you can strike up a friendly conversation with the person and ask them a few questions to see where the conversation goes. You can get their phone number and then follow up at a future time and date OR give them your business card.
It’s our human nature to want to share our beliefs and passions with others. Pin-back buttons allow us to do so in a fun way that is always sure to invite interesting conversation.

If you are shy, quiet or introverted, you can just say:
I saw you looking at my button. Check this out.
Then, hand them a drop card and carry on with your day. If the person is interested in learning more about what you are doing, they will check out your drop card and visit your website. It really is that simple.
Do not overlook this simple lead generation strategy. It’s cost effective and easy to do. Think about how many conversations per day could happen in your team if you had 100, 200 or even 500 people wearing a button? You would see new reps and customers coming on board.
Just keep it short and intriguing… And try to attend events where people of your target audience might be.

By no means does this replace the other things you do to get leads, but it is one more tool that you can put in lead generation your toolbox.
What Others Are Saying?
Wear the button. Generate interest in your business.
~ Mark Hughes, Herbalife Founder
Most companies offer sales aids that help the cold sponsoring process. If you owned a store, you would put out your “open for business” sign at the start of each day. Wear an “open for business” button promoting your product. Something catchy will inevitably create interest. If people are bold enough to quiz you about the button, they’re probably outgoing and a great prospect. Pass out literature with your phone and e-mail, and use your business cards. Do this consistently. The law of averages says something has got to happen.
