In today’s post, I want to give you a quick MLM Attitude session.
These are lessons I have learned during the past 18-years in this industry. I can only speak from personal experience. I have learned that your outer world is a reflection of your inner world. How you think, and your attitude, have a HUGE IMPACT in your business: either good or bad.
Your attitude affects your energy. It affects your self-talk. It even affects how your prospect views you. The quickest way to grow your business is to grow yourself, which includes improving your attitude.
Remember this, “the attitude comes before the paycheck.” People do not have a positive attitude because they are successful in the business. Instead, they are successful because they have a positive mental attitude (and they do the work).
MLM Attitude Session
What you will see below are some valuable lessons about having the right MLM Attitude. They are listed in no particular order.
# 1: 90/10 Rule
This business is 90% attitude and mindset and 10% skills. Without the right attitude and proper mindset, it doesn’t matter how much knowledge you have about how to build the business. If you don’t know have the right attitude and mindset, you will never do the work, even if you know what to do.
# 2: Think Like a Winner
The major difference between a successful rep and a struggling rep is how they think and how they spend their time. To be successful, you need to be self-disciplined with your time and you need to think like a winner. You also need to transition from the employee mindset to the entrepreneur mindset.
# 3: Know Your Why
To be successful at anything on a grand scale you need a crystal-clear vision of what you are trying to accomplish and WHY you are doing it. You need a why that makes you cry. Without a big why you will never overcome the temporary failure and setbacks you will experience.
# 4: Manage Your Time
The only thing we all have in common is that we all have 24-hours in a day. How you spend that time is what matters most. Everyone has time for things that are important to them. Make your business a top priority and do not let life get in the way.
# 5: Be Willing to Change
The world is constantly changing. Nothing ever stays the same. Embrace change. Do not be scared of it. Always keep an open mind and never think that you have arrived. Stay humble, stay hungry, stay in the trenches and keep working.
# 6: Ignore the Haters
Let your critics be your source of inspiration, not a reason to quit. Whenever you step out of your comfort zone, you will have haters: especially friends and family. Ignore them! Focus on what you want. More importantly, surround yourself with people who uplift you and encourage you and bring out the best in you.
# 7: Treat Others Well
Everyone on your team is important. Treat everyone well, especially the people you want to stay! But, spend your time where you will get the biggest return on your time investment.
# 8: Focus on Solutions
Everyone has problems. Your problems are not unique to you. Instead of focusing on the problem, focus on the solution.
# 9: Make a Decision
All success begins with a decision. I can, I will, I shall. That is the mindset you want to adopt in your business. I would argue that most people who join our industry never truly decide they will succeed with it. Instead, they join and say something like “I’ll try it for a few months and see how it goes”. That is a recipe for failure.
# 10: Learn from EVERY Experience
There is no failure. Every experience is a learning experience. Look at each setback and challenge you go through as an opportunity to learn and improve. Fail forward!
# 11: Respect Your Upline
What you do to your upline, your downline will do to you! Whether you like your sponsor and upline, or not, treat them with respect. Be grateful they introduced you to the business. Edify them to your team.
# 12: You are the X Factor
The business works. The products work. You are the X factor. Work harder on growing yourself than you do growing your business. If even one person has succeeded with your company in the past, that means you can succeed too, if you do what they did.
# 13: Observe the Masses
The fastest way to succeed in this business is to observe the masses and do the exact opposite. What do the masses do? Not much. Most don’t order, sponsor one person or even sell one product. Most quit in 90-days or less! If you are going to follow anyone’s lead, find someone who is successful in the business and model their behavior.
# 14: Work with the Willing
You can only help people who want to help themselves. I’d rather run with one than drag 20. Work with the willing. Guess what? Most of your team is not willing.
# 15: Be the Leader
You are the leader of your business. Are you setting the example? Would you want to sponsor 20 people just like you? Teach by example. Instead of telling your team what to do, show them what they should be doing by your own personal example.
Until you do it, don’t expect someone on your team to do it. Do the things you want your team to do. Be the type of person you want to sponsor and be the type of sponsor you wish you had. And remember this, people want to follow someone who knows who they are and where they are headed.
# 16: Don’t Worry About People Who Don’t Join (or Quit)
What’s 20% of nothing? NOTHING. That’s why you don’t worry about who signs up or who quits! I get excited about the people who get in and go to work. You should too!
# 17: Recruit New Reps Monthly
Never, ever let a month go by where you don’t personally recruit two to four new business builders. EVER. Bring in new reps monthly; the cream will rise to the top. New reps solve every business challenge you have.
# 18: Help & Serve Others
We get paid to help and serve people. Our commission check is a reflection of how well we do that. The more people you help and serve, and the better you do it, the more money you will make it. If you aren’t earning as much as you’d like to in the business, focus on doing those two things.
# 19: The Six Figure Formula
To succeed in network marketing, you need 18 to 36-months of focused, concentrated effort, prospecting 10+ people daily. This will create rapid growth and momentum in your business. Once you have this foundation built, you can ease off the gas a little bit and resort to a slower, more reasonable pace.
# 20: Never Compare Yourself to Others
Compare yourself to no one. When you compare yourself to others, you are comparing your weaknesses to their strengths. Plus, you don’t know what chapter of their success journey they are on. They might be on chapter ten, whereas you are still on chapter two. Additionally, stop trying to be like someone else. Instead, be the best version of you possible. Set big goals and get better daily and let the compound effect kick in.
# 21: Do Not Quit
Get in, get started, get to work, keep learning and never quit. The best baseball players FAIL 7 out of 10 times. These folks earn millions of dollars each year, even though they fail 70% of the time. Fail forward. The only way to succeed is to fail over and over and over.
In review, this is my MLM Attitude Session. The bottom line is that attitude is everything. One of the major differences between a struggling rep and a top rep is their attitude and how they think. I hope you will take an “attitude check” every single day and make sure you are thinking positive, uplifting thoughts.
