Today, I am going to write an independent Mannatech review. I am going to share 15 cool facts about the company, so you can have a better understanding about what Mannatech has to offer you. Hopefully, this information will be the first step in your own research about the company.
The best part of this review is: I am not affiliated with the company in any way, shape or form. I will tell you as it is without “pulling any punches.”
While you will find a link to the official Mannatech website in the reference section below, if you do join as a distributor or customer, I receive no compensation for it. So let’s get on with it; here are the top 15 facts about Mannatech.
Fact #1: Founding
Mannatech was founded back in 1993. It’s been around nearly 25-years now. To me, that speaks volumes considering most companies in our industry have a high failure rate.
Fact #2: Founder
The founder of Mannatech is Samuel Caster. Mr Caster was also the CEO of Mannatech up until 2007 when he resigned. In 2009, Samuel was ordered not to have any leadership positions with the company for 5 years as part of punitive damages in a State of Texas civil case.
Before Mannatech, Mr. Caster had been in direct sales for many years. He also had founded Eagle Shield which was an insulation product and following that, he devised Electracat which was a pest control device.
Both Eagle Shield and Electracat put Caster at odds with the Texas Attorney General.
Fact #3: Headquarters
The headquarters for Mannatech is in Coppell, Texas.
Fact #4: Past Presidential Candidate Ben Carson Uses Mannatech Products
It caused quite a stir when Dr. Ben Carson ran for President. It seems Dr. Carson had done a couple of speeches in support of Mannatech and he was promptly pictured on the Mannatech website homepage.
But, when he decided to make the bid for President, all Carson images were removed.
When questioned, Dr. Carson told the press he did not have a business relationship with Mannatech, but that he did use the products and liked them. He also stated that his image was used without permission.
Many say this hurt Carson terribly in his Presidential run.
Fact #5: Types Of Products
Mannatech manufactures and sells products in:
- Weight loss
- Skin care
- and Fitness
Fact #6: Mannatech Mission & Vision
According to the Mannatech website, I am going to provide both their mission and vision statements:
Mission – To fight global malnutrition by nourishing the world with Real Food Technology® supplementation while empowering and rewarding the lives of those who champion our cause.
Vision – To impact the global epidemic of childhood malnutrition by linking five million consumers of Real Food Technology supplementation with five million children in need.
Fact #7: Recent FDA Warning
In November of 2017, Mannatech was issued a strong warning from the Food & Drug Administration. Investigators found a number of violations of the Current Good Manufacturing Practice in Manufacturing, Packaging, Labeling, or Holding Operations for Dietary Supplements.
The products from Mannatech under scrutiny include:
- Ambrotose Complex Powder
This warning seems quite strong. Now many may think the FDA is overstepping their bounds, but we must recall early days when people would claim alcohol, cocaine and opium were cure-alls.
Now, I do know that the leaders are making sure they do comply with the FDA.
Fact #8: Worldwide
Mannatech has independent representatives all over the world. The continents include:
- The Americas with 4 countries
- Africa (South Africa)
- Europe with 12 countries
- and Asia/Pacific with 7 countries
Fact #9: 20/20 Put A Dent In Mannatech Revenues
In 2008, the ABC news show 20/20 ran a critical story regarding false health claims made by Mannatech and many of their independent home based business owners.
This story helped cause a huge decline in revenues for the company.

- Down’s Syndrome
- Cystic Fibrosis
- and others
Mannatech agreed to pay $7,000,000 but admitted doing nothing wrong.
Fact #11: Mannatech Guarantee
Mannatech offers an 180 day 100% satisfaction guarantee for retail customers, members, and associates. Compared to most companies in our industry, this is a great deal.
Fact #12: Current CEO
The current CEO of Mannatech is Alfredo Bala.
Fact #13: Cost To Join
Is there a cost to join Mannatech? According to Mannatech, the cost to join is: $0 become a member (with an order), qualifies you for 5% discount off retail, 10% discount if enroll in optional Automatic Order program. $0 to become an associate with an order.
Fact #14: Overcoming The Damage
With the airing of the 20/20 documentary and civil actions against Mannatech, the company reported losses in 2010 of $10,600,000. In 2011, losses were $20,600,000. In 2012, the losses came down to $1,000,000 and in 2013, Mannatech bounced back to $3,000,000 in net income. That doubled in 2014 and has continued to climb. This is because of huge changes in company operations and marketing.
Fact #15: Compensation Plan
Mannatech uses a Unilevel compensation plan with many types of bonuses. You can understand the Mannatech comp plan better by viewing this PDF.
Chuck, the owner of this website told me to add that he thinks the Mannatech compensation plan is one of the best in the industry, especially with their recent improvements.
My friend Greg wrote this post, but I wanted to add in my own two cents. While Mannatech has had some issues in the past, I believe they are one of the good guys in the industry. They are proven and established and offer a great long-term opportunity for everyone involved. They are a publicly traded company. They have great products. And, their compensation plan is killer.
Should you join Mannatech? Would it be the right home based business for you? Only YOU can answer that question!
My best advice is to do your due diligence and then trust your gut instinct. Talk with successful distributors, and people who quit, and see what their experience has been like. Order five to ten different products to see if they meet your expectations.
Now it is your turn… Let’s hear your thoughts and see if you have any questions or thoughts about Mannatech. If so, please post them below in the comments section. I will attempt to give you an answer. Thank you for visiting our website. Have a great day.
