The costs of legal services can be outrageous. But there are times when an attorney is required. It is never wise to try and be your own lawyer. There just isn’t enough YouTube videos or online education to help you weave through the maze of the legal system.
Legal Shield was founded on the idea of providing people with law representatives at an affordable price. According to the Legal Shield website:
“Finally, you can live life knowing you have a lawyer in your back pocket who, at the same time, isn’t emptying it.”
But, is Legal Shield true? Is this company on the up and up or a scam?
You will have to answer that question yourself. But I am going to help you by giving you these top 15 facts about Legal Shield.
#1: Founded In 1972
Back in 1969, Harland Stonecipher was in an auto accident that was not his fault. But the other party decided to sue him anyway. The costs involved in hiring an attorney put him in bad shape financially. Even though he won the case, he lost because of the legal costs.
Harland began researching and using the insurance approach, he came up with an idea that people could pay monthly to have legal coverage.
So Harland founded the company in 1972.
#2: 3 Names

There has been people who love Legal Shield and also some who detest the company.
I am going to share 1 of each…
“I have been a LegalShield member since November 2016 and have used the service several times. And, I had a local store take my order and then not deliver the goods I purchased. LegalShield took care of it. My son is going off to college, and I had LegalShield do a medical power of attorney at no additional costs. Also, I had a neighbor conflict where they wrote a letter for me and took care of the issue. Very prompt, very responsive.”
“I canceled my service today because they refused service. The fine print “We can refuse service if we feel your case doesn’t have a defense.” I was speeding out of state, and the attorney said there wasn’t a defense. WHAT! This means that they can refuse service for anything, and they won’t actually be there when you need them. I suspect this is about money – my law firm would have had to come out of pocket to pay for an out of state lawyer and they didn’t want to do that. So if you’re ever in serious trouble, don’t rely on Legal Shield, they do whatever it takes to save the money, including not taking your case.”
I would love to hear from any of you who have used Legal Shield.

I just wanted to add that Legal Shield does have a BBB rating of A+. This company is not a scam as they would not have been in business as long as they have.
