Today’s post is about how to go from bad to good to great.
Just the other day I finished reading a great book by Carrie Dickie.
The name of the book is “Network Marketing: The View from Venus.”
This is a great book that I highly recommend.
One of my favorite quotes in the book is:
“Always remember, you will be bad before you’re good and good before you’re great.”
To me, that is some serious wisdom.
People are funny.
Most people join the network marketing industry and think they will magically succeed overnight.
They don’t realize that network marketing, just like anything else in life, requires you to go through a learning curve.
Think about when you first learned how to ride a bike.
You fell.
You hit your head.
You cried.
You scraped a knee.
You scratched your elbow.
You cried again.
But… you kept getting back up.
You kept trying.
Your mom and dad encouraged you to try one more time.
Before you knew it you were riding up and down the sidewalk with ease, all by yourself.
You were so proud of yourself.
A few months later you took your BMX bike and started doing jumps and wheelies.
A few years later you were racing your mountain bike on mountains and hills, without fear.
Or… you were taking your ten speed down the biggest hill in town.
Once again, you didn’t start out as a great biker.
You became a great biker by practice and real world experience.
You practiced, and practiced, and practiced until it became easy for you.
That’s how network marketing works.
That’s how everything in life works.
That’s how sex works…
That’s how you mastered your job skills…
That’s how you got good at parenting…
Practice, practice and more practice.
Until you have it mastered.
Here are a few things you should know if you want to know how to go from bad to good to great in network marketing.
# 1 Expect a learning curve.
Like I just mentioned, no one starts out as a success at anything.
Success requires work, temporary failure and perseverance.
Depending upon what type of skill you are trying to master, it could take you several years to do.
Easier tasks are much quicker to master.
People become successful at something by practicing and practicing and practicing until it becomes a habit.
For most new network marketers, it will take you a few months to learn the basic business skills and several years to master them.

# 2 Be willing to pay your dues.
No matter what you want in life, you must pay your dues.
Think about how many shots Michael Jordan took before he made it to the pros.
Most professionals in any industry have spent YEARS mastering their craft and becoming an expert, BEFORE they made it big.
Most started out bad, became good after a while, and eventually became great at what they did.
Don’t look for shortcuts.
They don’t exist.
# 3 Stop comparing yourself with successful people.
When you look at someone who is successful, you see a finished product.
You do not see all the trials, setbacks and defeat they persevered through during their years of struggle.
The people on stage at your company’s convention are a FINISHED PRODUCT.
They went through years of personal development to get where they are today.
That’s why you shouldn’t compare yourself with them.
Instead, compare who you are with who you are capable of becoming.
# 4 Get better every single day.
If you want to go from bad to good to great, you must make it a point to get a little bit better every single day.
Your efforts will compound as time goes by.
Just make it a point to be better tomorrow than you were today.
If you did that for the rest of your life you would be amazed at what you could accomplish.
# 5 Learn by doing.
The best way to go from bad to good to great is to learn by doing.
You can study something until the cows come home, but studying theory will only get you so far.
I can assure you that you will learn more in one hour of actually doing something than in 20 hours of studying how to do it.
By all means, find a mentor, watch helpful videos and read great books.
But, don’t forget to apply what you learn.
