Today, I want to share some simple tips on how to get leads from Facebook groups.
Let’s keep it real for a minute. According to some online stats, there are more than 1.3 BILLION Facebook users. That is billion with a capital B.
In other words, there are TONS of people on Facebook. Even better, many of these people are looking for what you are selling. You just need to meet them and connect with them.
While some people just focus on spamming Facebook, or doing sponsored ads, I believe that Facebook groups offer a huge opportunity to get more leads for your business.
I’ve been generating leads via my own Facebook group for several years now. I have done many things right and many things wrong. What I want to share below are some of the best strategies that have worked for me, to get more leads from Facebook groups.
Before I share my secret tips, please know that my best suggestion is to leverage Facebook to generate EMAIL LEADS for your business.
While it’s great to have fans, friends and group members, what you really want to do is convert your Facebook followers to your email subscribers. That gives you more control and puts your business on auto-pilot.
How to Get Leads from Facebook Groups
In the paragraphs below, I’m going to share some simple ideas about how to get leads from Facebook groups. These are all things I currently do or have done in the past. Rather than try all of these things at once, just pick one thing off this list and start with that.
Tip # 1: Make Your Group an Open Group
In Facebook, there are secret, closed, and public groups. All three types of groups have advantages and disadvantages. I used to be a fan of secret and closed groups, but now I like the open/public groups more.
I like these groups better because they give you more visibility. The group’s posts show up on the wall of all of the group members, and are visible to their friends as well. Not so with other two types of groups.
All you need to do is click on the settings tab of your group and you can change it to an “open” group.
Although closed groups are visible in Facebook search, only the group’s name and member list are visible on the group’s main page. Content posted on the group’s Timeline is visible on a members-only basis. The opposite is true for open groups. Content posted on an open group’s Timeline is visible to anyone who views the group. This includes photos, videos, files and anything else posted to the group’s Timeline or anywhere else on Facebook, assuming the group’s name is tagged.

Tip # 2: Do Contests
There’s nothing like a good contest. Create a post in your group with some type of contest. Do it often, at least once per week.
Use a contest to send people to your capture page or offer where they can opt-in to your email list.
Let everyone know that you will pick two or three random winners and give them a prize. For example, you could have a contest that goes like this.
Anyone who likes, shares, and comments on this post between now and next Monday will be entered into a raffle. I will pick two random winners who will each receive a free $25 Starbucks gift card.
Be sure to include your URL to your capture page on the actual contest post.
People love contests and giveaways. Not only are they fun for your followers, but they can also teach you a lot about your audience — all the while engaging them, growing your reach, driving traffic to your website, and generating leads.
If the goal of your contest is to generate leads, publish posts on Facebook (in addition to your other social media accounts) that include an attractive featured image or video, language that’s compelling and simple, and a link to your contest page where they can fill out a form.

Tip # 3: Ask People to Like, Comment, and Share Your Posts
At the end of every post you share in your group, simply ask people to like, share, and comment on the post. This gives you more engagement, which will lead to more people seeing your post, which will lead to more leads.
Engagement is integral to successful Facebook marketing– more so than a number of people you reach. An engaged audience is an audience that is more likely to buy your products or services or recommend it to their friends.

Tip # 4: Participate in Other Groups
One of the best things you can do get more leads through Facebook groups is to join other groups in your niche. Find three to five groups in your niche and become a valuable contributor in each group. Ask questions, comment on other posts, and provide value to the group. Invite interesting people to become part of your own group.
Sharing your experiences through Facebook groups, trading tips, and connecting with others will likely not only gain you clients but also some friends as well, since Facebook groups are formed around an element you already have in common.
The best way to engage with the Facebook groups you join is to be a good digital citizen. Connect with positivity, be uplifting, and avoid getting into debates or negative discussions.

Tip # 5: Connect with Your Group Members Individually
One of the best ways to get more leads with your Facebook group is to connect with group members individually. Send private messages. Get to know people so they know you are a real person.
Consider calling people or doing “Facetime” with several of your contacts. This is a great way to build up your credibility and get more leads.
Initially, when the community is small, there might not be many posts from your community members. It can be helpful to seed some relevant, helpful conversations on a consistent basis; perhaps two to three times a week.
A thoughtful way to go about this is to plan your posts in advance; perhaps with a calendar. For example, you could welcome your new members every Monday, initiate a discussion on every Wednesday and invite members to share their achievements on Friday.

Tip # 6: Share Your Capture Page
Make it a point to include a link to your capture page every 2nd or 3rd post you share in the group. Remember that most people need to see something at least 10-20 times before they take action.
This method has proven to be successful, many group members don’t like clicking on posts that appear salesy. To get around this issue, try to be less aggressive. Post an informational video or message, and then link to a capture page. You are more likely to get a higher conversion rate that way. Your messages or content can also be shared by members.

Tip # 7: Use Memes
Memes are a great way to get more leads from Facebook groups. You should use memes whenever you can. Be sure that every meme you share has a link to your website or capture page on it. It’s just one more way to keep your marketing message in front of your viewers at all times.
Because memes are so share-worthy, they’re fantastic for generating traffic and visibility to your social media accounts. Memes attract likes, repins, comments, and shares like crazy — making it more likely that your social content will gain traction in social media and spread.

Tip # 8: Use a Group Cover with Your URL On It
Facebook lets you upload a cover to your group. Think of this as a header image. What I suggest you do is include the name of your group, a catchy headline, and a URL to your capture page. Some people will see the cover and naturally want to check out your website.
Using an easy-to-remember URL makes it easier to share your Facebook Group with others during meetups and conferences. You have up to 50 characters but try to keep it short.

Tip # 9: Write a Compelling Group Description
In your group description, make it compelling. Make it interesting. Write it like a sales letter. Have a headline, a call to action, and a few benefit points. Be sure to include the link to your capture page in it, so you can get more leads.
Who is your group for? What is the purpose of your group? What are the benefits of joining? These are some of the questions you should answer in your group description. You can also include your group rule or guidelines (more on those later) or a link to them if they’re published on a separate webpage or document. Your group description is also a good place to include a link to your website and/or any other resources that are relevant to your group members.

Tip # 10: Facebook Live Videos
Quite perhaps the best way to get more leads from Facebook groups is to do your own Facebook Live videos in your group. I suggest you do this once a day, or at least a few times per week. When you do Facebook Live videos, everyone in your group gets notified. People can watch it live or catch the replay.
Make some great educational videos. You can promote your offer at the end of each video. Simply say something like, “If you’d like more information about how to do what we talked about today, just visit the following website.” This should result in lots of new leads.
You can also include your link as the first comment in the video.
Facebook Live has proven itself pretty incredible for engagement rates. Facebook’s initial data revealed that people comment 10X more on Facebook Live videos than on regular videos.
