How to Build Your MLM Business on YouTube

In this short article, I’d like to share some pointers on how to build your MLM business on YouTube. Before I get too deep into the subject, I want you to know that YouTube is saturated with network marketing videos. You will literally find tens of thousands of MLM videos on YouTube, maybe more!

Fortunately for you, most of them suck.  Most MLM YouTube videos are nothing more than a pitch to join someone’s business!  So, if you can find a creative way to promote your network marketing business on YouTube, you will position yourself for success.

You probably already know that YouTube is one of the top five most popular websites on the world, getting millions of visitors each day. This means there are plenty of potential “prospects” surfing YouTube, looking for what you have to offer. But, how do you reach them? What is the best way to deliver your message? Based on my personal experience, here is how I recommend you use YouTube to grow your MLM Business.

First and foremost, you should create your own YouTube channel. This is free and easy to do. On your channel, you should only have MLM themed videos. You don’t want to post videos of your family, friends, or hobbies on your channel. Make it a business channel and keep everything on your channel about a similar topic: network marketing.

make money with youtubeNext, I recommend you make some quality videos geared around your product line. Most distributors provide educational videos about the network marketing industry. Few talk about the products.  If you make products geared around the product line, you will have less competition.

I highly recommend you read your distributor agreement first, to make sure this doesn’t violate any of your company’s policies.  The last thing you want to do is get terminated for violating the distributor agreement.

If you are allowed to post videos about your company’s products, you have a few options. You could provide testimonials about the products. You could do comparisons with your products vs. other products. You could also share your personal story about how the products have helped you out. I recommend you provide a disclaimer in each video, so people know you are a distributor.  Also, don’t make any wild claims.

If you aren’t allowed to make videos about your company’s product line, you have another option.  I suggest you pick one aspect of network marketing and focus on that exclusively.   You could focus on video marketing, lead generation, offline strategies, blogging and many other things.  Just remember this.  You need a Unique Selling Proposition.  You need a way to stand out in the crowd and be different.  You want to be known as the “leads guy” or “the home party gal” or something similar.

As far as making your videos, content is the most important thing. You don’t need a fancy camera and you don’t need to be a Hollywood producer. Just be yourself. Don’t read or memorize stuff. Speak from the heart.  Also, try to keep your videos to two to three minutes or less. After all, most people have short attention span and won’t watch a ten or twenty minute video.  In addition, make sure the lighting and sound quality are good.

When I create videos I just sit at my kitchen table and act like I am having a conversation with someone.  Ideally, you want your videos to come across like you are speaking directly to the person watching the video.

Another great thing to do is to create PowerPoint videos. If you are camera shy, you can create a few Power Point slides, and then do a voice over. Although I am not a big fan of this type of video, it will work.  And it’s much better than not making videos at all.

Furthermore, you should create lots of videos for your MLM YouTube Channel. Try to post a couple videos each week, until you have at least 100 videos online. The faster you can get to 100 videos the better.  After that, create a posting schedule and stick with it.  You want to post videos at the same time on the same day each week.

You want longtail keywords that aren’t overly competitive, but do have a decent search demand.  If you pick the right keywords, you videos can rank high in the search engines and you will get more free traffic (which is a good thing).

At the end of each video, give your viewer a call to action such as “check out the link below this video to learn more about my company’s products.”  You can also provide a phone number, email and/or a link to your website. You can also add a link in your description box. I’ve found that the best thing to do is to provide a link to a CAPTURE PAGE first so you can start generating leads.

Another good tip about building your MLM Business on YouTube is to build an audience.  Make sure you engage with your subscribers and people who leave comments and replies on your videos.  At least once a week, check, approve and reply to comments.  Keep the spammers off your YouTube wall if you can, but realize that you will have spammers and haters.  You need thick skin.  Some people are really mean for no reason at all.

My final tip about building your network marketing business on YouTube is to think long-term.  This is not a one to twelve month strategy.  You need a minimum two to five year game plan. You won’t become overly popular overnight or get instant results with your YouTube marketing!  Good things take time.  You might want to consider drafting up a one page business plan identifying your goals and objectives.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, YouTube is a powerful and effective way to generate leads for your MLM business. People who watch your videos and want more information will contact you. Some of these folks will become distributors and customers in your business.

I recommend you follow the advice mentioned above and create your own MLM YouTube Channel. To get started, research your keywords to find good keywords to use in your title and description. When you create a video, provide great content, keep your videos to two or three minutes or less, and add your contact information. And by all means, post videos on a regular, consistent basis. If you follow this advice, you will become a MLM YouTube superstar, and you will generate more leads, customers and distributors for your business.

I have a few YouTube videos up and they got great responses when they first went up. I don’t have 100 yet but I’m going to work harder to get more up and post them more often. I agree that videos are great for blogging and other social media formats. I find that it’s best to not sell anything in the video but rather offer free information in the video. I’m also thinking about monetizing my YouTube channel and so in addition to generating leads it will also become another stream of income.

Yes, using YouTube videos to create your brand, give away free information and educate others is the way to go. You can provide a link for each video so it’s a simple way to send people to a capture page and generate leads. It’s also great to put ads on your videos and create an extra income stream.

I agree that video is a great platform to generate leads and sales. I believe the key is to be innovative. You need to have something that is a little different from the norm. Youtube is highly saturated with Network Marketing videos. I think that using a different video platform may be a good answer to. Some that you can choose from are Vimeo, Flickr lets you upload videos, Veoh allows you to upload larger videos, and I also should mention that a site I write at does have a system where you can upload video “Hubs.” Hubpages.com.

Something I have noticed as of late in many YouTube videos that get a lot of views is the use of what they call stop animation. I believe a person could adapt this technique in their network marketing videos and it could be popular. What they do is use figurines such as Lego men or GI Joes or Barbies. Doing slight movements and putting it all together into a video. Maybe you could have GI Joe and Barbie doing a demonstration of a cleaning product, or something like that. Just a thought.

Great post. I like the idea of putting together a business plan as well. Also, being unique on YouTube is a plus, but try to connect with communities already out there. For instance, if you sell jewelry you want to connect with the ladies already out there in the beauty industry. You can do collaboration videos or have them review your products. It’s important that you know your MLM policies first though.

The network marketing world is saturated on YouTube. It definitely makes sense to find a way to stand out in the crowd and be different. Have a unique selling proposition, good content and a strong call to action and it’s a great way to expand your business and generate leads at the same time.

Thanks for the post. It really does come down to content every time- which is good because it keeps freelance writers like me in business! I am new to making my own videos. Do you use Camtasia for your YouTube videos? Or do you recommend specific software?

I just use a Flip Cam to make my videos and I use Windows Movie Maker, which is a free software program that came with my computer. I’m not sure how to record screenshots and do all the fancy stuff that a lot of people do, but maybe it would be worth me learning.

I am very excited to read this post! I feel like I am being reborn as a business person. The number of times I have dismissed YouTube as a time wasting site! My view was that it has completely nothing to offer, and is only if business value to Google company. I think I will really be glad to see how my venture will take off. This post has spurred a lot of interest in researching the subject. My traditional ideals on business have been grossly challenged, which is good.I think it is really a great idea about ‘going straight to the point’ as opposed to what many people do. Many of the videos on YouTube are exploratory in nature. The call to action bit is also a highlight. I think I am more of a ‘circles’ marketer that will change. However I feel that the idea of long-term is subjective. I believe if it has been working with traditional ways, breaking even, it will be very possible to double that with YouTube. All the same am so excited!

YouTube is definitely a great move for network marketing if you are willing to be different, make lots of videos, post daily and over deliver with tons of great content. It’s also more of a long term project since it takes a lot of time to build up a high traffic channel.
