How to Attract Good MLM Prospects?

So, how do I attract good MLM prospects?

I’m sure you want to know.  If you’re like most other network marketers, you’re tired of wasting your time with deadbeat leads and unqualified prospects.  Can you relate?

I’m sure you want to learn how to attract good MLM prospects so you can work smart and be more effective with your business.

My goal today is to teach you how to do that.  I want to share four things you must do to attract better quality prospects.  They are listed in no particular order.  Enjoy.

# 1 Determine Your Target Market

Whether you are selling inexpensive toilet paper or used cars in Minneapolis, Minnesota, you have a target market. If you think everyone is a prospect for your business opportunity or product, you are really fooling yourself.

If everyone is a prospect, no one is a prospect.  Chew on that for a minute.

attract good mlm prospectsAll businesses, even MLM, have a target market.  If you want to attract good MLM Prospects, you need to clearly identify your target market.

This is nothing more than a group of people who are “best qualified” or “most likely” to make a purchase from you.

What I suggest you do is study your own team.  While you’re at it, study the people who are really successful in your company.  What qualities to do they have in common?  What backgrounds do they represent? What are some trends you notice?

Do the same thing with your current and former customers.  What group of people is most likely to buy your product or service?

Spend some time determining this and write it down.  You must know your target market.  It’s a non-negotiable if you want to succeed in any kind of business.

Once again, if you think everyone is a prospect, you are only fooling yourself.  Everyone is not a prospect. Ultimately you are looking for groups of people who:

  • Are already buying similar products or services
  • Have the money to do so
  • Are willing to try a new product or similar service
  • Are ACTIVELY looking for the type of business you are offering
  • Are actively looking to make more money, work from home, or change careers

To clarify, you can talk to everyone and anyone, but I think that is a poor use of your time.

If you were a realtor would you try to sell a home to someone who didn’t want to buy a home and couldn’t get financing?  I doubt it.

Instead, you would pre-qualify people BEFORE you spend any time with them.

You should do the same thing in your network marketing business. That’s just something to think about.

Spend the time to determine your target market for your product/service or business opportunity.  The sooner you do that the better.

# 2 Learn Everything You Can About Your Target Market

The next step to attract better quality prospects for your network marketing business is to learn EVERYTHING, and I mean everything you can about your target market.

  • What magazines do they read?
  • What websites do they visit?
  • What groups or clubs do they participate in?
  • What do they do for a living?
  • Where do they go to relax?
  • What issues do they worry about?
  • What are their hopes, dreams and desires?
  • What do they think about?
  • Etc.

The more you know about your target market the better.  Why?  Because once you know a lot about your target market you can find effective ways to reach them and connect with them on a personal basis.

You will know where to spend your time, put your resources, and advertise your business.  I can’t speak for anyone else, but I am constantly learning everything I can about my target market so I can do a better job connecting with them and influencing them.

NOTE: My target market is other network marketers, military personnel and small business owners.

# 3 Study Marketing

magnetic sponsoringOnce you have identified your target market and learned everything you can about them, the next step to attract good MLM Prospects is to learn marketing.  Marketing and lead generation are the TWO most important activities in any business.

Show me a business owner who can generate leads on demand and I will show you someone who can make the cash register ring.

Without leads your business is doomed. Most businesses struggle because they think their product or service is their real business.  What they don’t realize is that MARKETING their product and service is their real business.

Ideally, you want to learn attraction marketing and direct response marketing.  I suggest you study people like Dan Kennedy or Mike Dillard.  Those two guys are geniuses and they taught me everything I know about marketing.

I suggest you attend some local marketing seminars.  This is a smart investment in your business.  Once you master marketing and lead generation, you can succeed in any kind of business.  That’s what I believe anyway.

# 4 Improve Your Value

The last thing you can do to attract good MLM Prospects, is to increase your value.

Let’s be honest with each other for a moment; a good MLM prospect is not going to team up with a dud.  A stallion will not hang out with a donkey!  People want to do business with people who are confident and successful.

The more value you bring to the marketplace the more attractive you are to your prospects.  The only way to really increase your value is to improve your skills.  You should:

As you get better, you will attract better quality people.  It won’t happen overnight though.  Just get a little bit better every single day.

In review, these are four simple things you can do to attract good MLM prospects in your network marketing business.

    One thing I wanted to mention on target markets is: depending on what you sell, your target market could be large or small, and I believe in some cases, we could have several target markets.

    What I mean by that is if we are in a MLM that sells a wide variety of products, some of the items could fit in one target market while others could fit in another.

    I suggest that network marketers do some brain-storming and write down what attributed would fit each target market. Determine the types of people who would fit in each one. I would then start gearing all your marketing efforts toward your largest target market, and then proceed to do the same with the smaller target markets.
