Herbalife Shakes Review

The purpose of this page is to provide a Herbalife Shakes Review.  I want to educate you with enough information so you can make a qualified decision as to whether or not the Herbalife Shakes are a good option for you.  Please keep in mind I am NOT a distributor with the company.  Also, Herbalife is a registered trademark owned by the company.

A Brief History of the Shakes

The Herbalife Shakes have been around for more than 30 years now.  The company launched in 1980 and has attained massive growth ever since.  The company has changed the ingredients of their shakes a few times along the way.  Their shakes are sold in more than 30 countries and have a long track record of helping people lose weight and improving their health.  Yes, there is some controversy when Herbalife battled the FDA, but they won that battle and are very well respected now.

Different Flavors

The Herbalife Shakes come in several different flavors to include mint chocolate, french vanilla, vanilla, dutch chocolate, wild berry, strawberry, pina colada, cafe latte, cookies n cream and kosher vanilla.  They do add new flavors from time to time.

Pros and Cons of the Shakes

Let’s face it, no diet product is perfect.  I’ve tried the Herbalife shakes before and there are a few things I like and dislike about them.  The pros and cons are listed below.

What I like about the Herbalife Formula 1 Shakes

  • Affordable meal replacement
  • Quick and easy to make
  • Great taste
  • Filled me up for about 4 hours
  • Several different flavors to choose from

What I didn’t like about the Herbalife Formula 1 Shakes

  • Made me gassy (sometimes)
  • They had lots of carbs, especially when you used milk
  • They have soy in them

Where to Order the Herbalife Formula 1 Shakes

People ask me all the time, where can I get the shakes?  Your best bet is to find a local distributor who can educate you about the products, take your orders and answer any questions you might have.  If you can’t find a local distributor, your other options include eBay, Amazon or through the many different online distributor websites.  All you have to do is conduct a quick internet search for “buy Herbalife” and you will find somewhere to purchase the shakes.

How Much Do They Cost?

I’ll be the first to admit that you can find similar, cheaper weight loss shakes at Wal-mart or your local drug store.  That being said, the products are still priced very competitively.  One canister sells between $30 and $40 on Amazon.  I’m not sure how much the distributor cost is since I am not a distributor.  One canister makes about 30 servings, so the cost is approximately $1 to $1.50 per serving, not including the price of milk.

When you compare that to other similar products, I believe it is a fair price.  Additionally, if you are a distributor, you can get a nice discount and save even more money.

Herbalife Shakes Weight Loss Stories

If there’s one thing I really admire about Herbalife it’s the fact they they have tens of thousands of success stories of people who have used the products and lost a significant amount of weight.  These Herbalife Weight Loss Stories are very inspirational.  I’ve listened/watched stories of people who have lost anywhere from 10 to 20 pounds to several hundred pounds.

How to Make a Herbalife Shake

Let me begin by telling you that there are many ways to make a Herbalife Formula 1 Shake. Best of all, it’s very easy to do.  All you have to do is mix 8 ounces of milk or water with two scoops of the shake mix.  You put it all in your shaker and shake it up for 20 to 30 seconds.  That is what I recommend you do if you are using a hand shaker.

On the other hand, if you have access to a blender, you can follow the same instructions plus include some ice.  Put everything in the blender and blend it for 10 to 15 seconds.  Also, I’ve found that adding in things such as bananas, strawberries or a tablespoon of peanut butter mixes things up and gives you variety, so you don’t get bored of the shakes.

Additionally, you can look online and find plenty of shake recipes.  There are literally hundreds of different ways to mix up a Herbalife Shake.

Final Thoughts

In summary, the Herbalife Formula 1 shakes are high quality, priced right and taste great.  While they might not be for everyone, they are definitely my favorite shakes that I’ve ever tried, and I’m not affiliated with Herbalife.

If you have any experience using the shakes, I would love to hear from you.  Please leave a comment below to tell us what you liked or disliked about the shakes and what type of weight loss results you experienced.  I look forward to hearing from you.

  1. I read this post out of sheer curiosity. I don’t really do shakes, I make my own smoothies and I’m perfectly content with that. But you do such thorough reviews, so I wanted to check it out. Your post did not sway me one way or the other, because like I said, happy with smoothies. But thank you for being completely honest and saying they made you gassy sometimes. Not everyone will tell people things like that, and its good to know.
Also, it could have been the soy that made you gassy. Just a thought.

  2. I have tried a variety of shakes over the past few years: Slimfast, Arbonne, Herbalife and some others. While I liked the taste of a few of them, the whole shake thing did not work for me. Most of them did not agree with my stomach, and none of them could ever be called a meal replacement. What I found myself doing was eating the same amount of food, and just adding a shake with a lot of carbohydrates into the mix. To me, doing moderate exercise and eating smaller portions of the foods that I love is a whole lot easier.

  3. Personally, I have tried the Herbalife Shakes and just really did not care for them. There was an after taste I didn’t enjoy; maybe it was the soy. I did wonder if adding ice cream would help, but there goes the weight loss idea. I have to say that cost wise, I do find the price just a bit on the high side also. This is just my opinion. Again, everyone’s taste buds are different, so what I dislike, you may love.

With all that, I still must say that Herbalife is a great MLM with great products. Just as I think Sears is a great company, doesn’t mean I like every product they carry.

I think everyone should at least try the shake mix before being a judge by what they read.
