If you’re like most folks, you own a six hundred pound telephone. Well, it might not literally weigh that much, but when it comes to calling your network marketing prospects and following up with them, it might feel that heavy.
Let’s face it, most folks hate cold calling people. And most distributors hate following up with leads. One of the reasons that online MLM has become so popular in recent years is because people don’t want to have to talk to people! People think the internet is a “magic solution” to their prospecting and follow up problems.
Sadly, most of the distributors who turn to the internet to grow their MLM Business online face the same challenges they did when they were trying to build their network marketing business offline.
The truth is – the phone is your friend! And it’s a very powerful tool in your arsenal if you choose to you use it. The phone lets you work smart and quickly. You can work in your underwear, save money on gas, and get more done in 60 minutes on the phone that you could do in eight hours face to face.
Assuming you are serious about building your MLM Business, you need to use the phone! It’s really a non-negotiable. Even if you are generating leads online, you need to follow up with them on the phone (or face to face).
You can’t expect people to just visit a website of yours, or read one of your emails, and then just go and sign up into your business. That might happen once in a blue moon, but it is the exception, not the norm! No matter HOW you generate leads, you still need to build that personal connection. And the phone is the easiest way to do that.
So, if you have a fear of the phone, get over it! Practice making calls with your sponsor or upline. Read some books on proper phone techniques. Or, best of all, just keep practicing until you get good at it. If you work the phone consistently for a month or two, your phone fear will go away!
You see, when you use the phone, you can make 10 to 30 calls in one hour. You can make some cold calls, follow up with leads, and talk with your team. You can work from the comfort of your own home without having to travel anywhere. And if you are away from home, you can even use your cell phone.
It’s affordable, easy to do, and very duplicatable. You see, not everyone on your team wants to do online marketing to build their network marketing business. Some people might want to, and that’s fine, but many will not.
However, EVERYONE (or almost everyone) can pick up a phone and call someone. It’s so easy a caveman can do it!
So, here’s the bottom line. Start looking at your phone as an asset for your network marketing business. Use the phone so you can work smart. Make a commitment to work the phone for a few months and I can promise you that your fears will disappear. Instead of looking at your phone as a 600 pound monster, you should think of it as an important business tool in your arsenal.
