So, what makes someone a great network marketer? What is it that the successful network marketers all across the world have in common?
I’ve studied lots of successful people in our industry and I believe there are certain attributes they all have in common. Yes, each person is different, with a different personality, belief system, values and upbringing. Each person is unique.
Despite those differences, there are certain things they have in common. What you will see in the paragraphs below is a list of those things.
# 1 Desire
All success starts with desire. Great network marketers have a big, burning desire to succeed in their business. They think about their business 24/7. It consumes them. Their business is an obsession for them. They want success more in their business than they want anything else in their life.
# 2 Coachable
Everyone will tell you they are coachable, until their coach suggests they do something they don’t want to do. Great network marketers find someone who is successful and they follow their lead. They humble themselves enough to listen to someone who has what they want. They don’t try to always reinvent the wheel or do things their own way.
# 3 Willing to Work
We live in a society where most people have a minimum wage mindset, but want to make millions. You will never succeed in any type of business with that mindset. Great network marketers work hard. They outwork EVERYONE on their team, especially during the first few years in business. They have a WORK SCHEDULE for their business each day and each week. Their mantra is HUSTLE.
# 4 Discipline
Discipline is a key attribute of success. I define discipline as doing things that need to be done, even when you don’t feel like doing it. It’s the ability to let NOTHING get in your way from reaching your dreams and goals. You do what you know you need to be doing, regardless of your emotions, attitude or state of mind. Great networkers are some of the most disciplined people you will meet.
# 5 Consistent and Persistent
You could say this quality goes hand in hand with discipline, but great network marketers are consistent and persistent. They are focused on the task at hand. They work their business at least six days a week, every week. They don’t stop and start. They get to work and never stop. Nothing keeps them down. They do something EVERY SINGLE DAY to move their business forward.
# 6 Positive Thinker
Great network marketers are naturally optimistic. Yes, they are realistic as well, but they do see the bright side of things. They look at every setback and disappointment as a learning experience and opportunity for a comeback. They stay humble, kind and nice. They treat people well and think well of themselves.
# 7 Influence
Great network marketers have INFLUENCE with other people. When they speak, other people listen. They have credibility. They don’t always have influence when they first start their business, but they build it up over time. Influence is important in this industry because everyone is a volunteer and no one can tell others what to do or boss them around.
# 8 People Skills
Great network marketers have amazing people skills. They are likable. They often think of things from the other person’s point of view. They know how to ask questions, listen and get along with many different types of people.
#9 Always Learning and Growing
Great network marketers are always trying to learn and grow. They love personal development. They are focused on continuous, ongoing improvement. They make it a goal to get better every single day. They read books, listen to tapes, work with their mentor and attend events.
# 10 Servant Leaders
Great network marketers are servant leaders. They understand that the more people they serve the more money they make in their business. They constantly put others first. They care about their team and do what they can to help them.
Very few people enter the industry with all of these skills already in place. All of these things can be learned. As Mark Yarnell once said, “every great network marketer was a lousy network marketer at first.”
There you have it folks. These are the things that make a great network marketer. I would encourage you to evaluate yourself in each of these ten areas and find ways to improve yourself. Come up with a simple plan to grow in each area and there is no doubt in my mind you will one day become a network marketing professional.
