Creating a Daily Action Plan, Routine or Mode of Operations for Your MLM Business

Today, I want to take a few minutes to talk to you about creating a winning daily routine or daily action plan for your MLM Business.

I’ve found that our daily habits will ultimately determine our success (or failure) in life. Show me someone who is successful and I will show you someone with great habits.  On the other hand, show me someone who is a failure and I will show you someone with bad habits.

In addition to having great habits, you also need to learn how to manage your time effectively. This is a big struggle for network marketers since most of them have a day job, family commitments, and other responsibilities.

By the time they get home after a long day at work, they simply don’t have the time or energy to build their network marketing business.  That’s what they think anyway!

The truth is, you can build a successful network marketing business working one to two hours a day, but you need to work smart, have a game plan and be a disciplinarian with your time. Trust me, you can find one to two hours per day, if you really want to.  It might not be easy to do, but it is possible.

time management memeMy goal today is to help you succeed in your MLM business.  I want to provide some sample daily action plans that you could follow to grow your network marketing business.  You can use these as is, or modify them as needed.  In addition, I’m also going to share my own daily routine with you.

The first action plan I am going to share with you is for someone who wants to create a six figure income in their first one to two years in the business.  This is for the “all in” person who is working their business at least 4 to 8 hours per day.  It is definitely not for the part-timer.

 Daily Action Plan # 1 (For the 1%)

  1. Set aside minimum four to eight hours per day to build your network marketing business
  2. Contact 30 new prospects by phone during those hours to pique their interest and invite them to a presentation
  3. Follow-up with contacts from previous day
  4. Train and help new team members
  5. Sign up and service new customers
  6. Rinse and repeat six days a week

I learned about this daily action plan from Mark Yarnell and this is for someone who wants to hit the gates running, right from day one.  It sounds easy to do, but very few people will commit to calling/contacting this many new prospects every single day.  The reason this plan works so well is because you are EXPOSING the business and products to so MANY people so quickly.  It’s all about massive action and massive exposures.

If you were to follow this plan for a year you would talk to almost 10,000 people yourself. Imagine how many customers and distributors you would find!  Even if you sponsored just one in 20 people you talked to, you would personally sponsor around 500 people in one year.

Once again, this daily action plan is extreme.  It will turn most people off.  It’s not for the part-timer or for someone who is dinking around with the business.  If you only get one takeaway from this example daily action plan remember that this is a business of exposures.  The more exposures you make the more money you make. PERIOD.

time management tips for network marketersDaily Action Plan # 2 (For the 10% of the people)

The next daily action plan for network marketers that I want to share with you is for someone who wants to create a six figure income within a 3 to 5-year period of time, but is willing to work consistently for a few years to get to that point.  This person is committed, but they don’t want to call 30 people a day.

Maybe they want to, but they don’t have the time to do it.  This person has a day job, and is busy like most other people, but is willing to set aside one to two hours per day to grow their network marketing business, at least five days per week.

  1. Set aside minimum one to two hours per day to build your network marketing business
  2. Talk to five prospects a day
  3. Follow-up with leads from the previous day
  4. Train and help new team members
  5. Sign up and service new customers
  6. Rinse and repeat five days a week

If you were to follow this action plan for a year, you would talk to approximately 1,300 people. If you sponsored just one in twenty people that you talked to, you would sponsor 65 people.  You would definitely see some huge growth in your business, even working this on a part-time basis. There is no doubt in my mind that you could do these six steps in about one to two hours per day.

Daily Action Plan # 3 (Something ANYONE Can Follow)

This daily action plan is designed for the part-timer who is looking to earn an extra $1,000 per month within their first 18 to 24 months in the business.

  1. Set aside minimum one hour per day to build your network marketing business
  2. Talk to three prospects per day, five days a week
  3. Follow up with leads from the previous day
  4. Train and help new team members
  5. Sign up and service new customers
  6. Rinse and repeat five days a week

By following this action plan you would talk to approximately 783 prospects in one year.  If you closed one in twenty you would sponsor approximately 39 people personally per year.  It won’t create huge momentum in your business, but you will definitely see your business grow by following these steps consistently.  You could easily do this in about an hour per day.

Example Daily Routines for Network Marketers

Here are some additional example daily routines for network marketers, just to give you some ideas.

Daily Routine # 1 for Your MLM Business

  • Call three prospects on the phone (20 minutes)
  • Training call with downline for (15 minutes)
  • Follow up with one customer (10 minutes)
  • Prospect two people about the business (10 minutes)
  • Schedule one presentation for a future date (5 minutes)
  • Read a book about network marketing or small business (15 minutes)

Daily Routine # 2 for Your MLM Business

  • Find a new way to advertise your business (10 minutes)
  • Show the presentation to one person (30 minutes)
  • Educate yourself about one of your company’s products (10 minutes)
  • Follow up with new leads (10 minutes)
  • Do an in home party plan or schedule one (10 mins to one hour)
  • Contact three successful entrepreneurs about the business (15 minutes)
  • Read for 15 minutes (15 minutes)

Daily Routine # 3 for Your MLM Business

  • Call five people you prospected several months ago (20 minutes)
  • Write a thank you card to one of your team members (5 minutes)
  • Generate two good leads online (15 minutes)
  • Mail 5 postcards (10 minutes)
  • Listen to a company call (20 to 60 minutes)

5%My Favorite Daily Routine for Network Marketers

I learned about this concept from Robert Blackman.  I wish I had thought of it myself, but I didn’t.

  • Call 10 people
  • Send 10 postcards
  • Send 10 emails

This is where you call 10 of your leads about what you have to offer.  Then you send them an email and then you mail them a postcard.  I believe you could do this in 1-2 hours per day if you were organized.  If you did it consistently for a year you would have a HUGE business.

***** Remember this: every part of your daily routine should be focused around getting prospects, showing the plan, following up with people, getting customers and training your team. Those are the only money producing activities in your business.

None of these daily routines are rocket science or hard to do, but hopefully they will get your creative juices flowing so you can come up with something that works for you.

My Typical Daily Routine Working from Home

In this next section, I want to share my typical day working from home.  Once again, this is just what works for me.

If you struggle with procrastination, this is the course for you.

I wake up around nine to ten o’clock in the morning.  I spent many years in the Army waking up before the sun comes up and I have NO desire to EVER do that again!  I’m a night owl, not an early riser.

My wife, Rachel and I don’t use an alarm clock and haven’t done so in years.  I just wake up when my body tells me to wake up.  For whatever it is worth, she likes to sleep in as well (I ruined her)!

After I take my shower, I fire up the coffee pot with my favorite decaf coffee.  While that’s brewing I mix up my meal replacement shake (from my MLM Company).  As I drink my coffee and meal replacement shake, I review my daily “to do” list to see what I need to get done for the day.

During a typical day, my “to do” list looks something like this:

  1. Read for 60 minutes
  2. Exercise
  3. Publish 1 blog post (2x per week)
  4. Update Facebook groups
  5. Check email and answer questions
  6. Revise and edit an old blog post
  7. Write two handwritten notes
  8. Talk with several of my team members on SKYPE and by phone
  9. Review website stats from previous day
  10. Return calls and follow up with prospects and clients

This normally takes me about four hours to do all of these tasks.  Sometimes I do more, but this is what I do on a daily basis 95% of the time, Monday through Friday.

I space these tasks out and watch a little bit of television in between.  Around lunch time, I take an hour or so to eat and relax.  I like to sit out by the pool on the wicker furniture and enjoy the sunshine (we live in Florida).

I normally go to our local deli to get lunch or cook up something.  I like to take a nap around 3 o’clock in the afternoon.  It recharges me.

My afternoons are free to go for a walk, watch a movie, visit a Thrift Store with my wife, go to a friend’s house, go shopping, or do whatever else I feel like doing.  I try to make myself leave the house every day for at least an hour, just to socialize and be around other people.

This is a software program you can use to manage your time effectively. It’s awesome.

In the evenings I like to make dinner for my wife (when she lets me).  We normally watch our favorite television shows, talk, play a board game or do something fun.  We definitely like to chill.

Around 9-10 p.m. I go back into my home office and spend a few hours online.  I surf Facebook, watch some funny YouTube videos, check my email, and read some of my favorite blogs.

I typically go to bed around 1 or 2 in the morning, sometimes later, and then read for 30 to 60 minutes before I go to sleep.

That’s my day in a nutshell.  It’s not sexy to most people.  But, I own my life and do what I want.  I love it.  No commute.  No boss.  I call my own shots and work in my pajamas most days. FREEDOM.

I typically take Sundays off.  I maintain this schedule pretty much 6 days a week and love it.  If I want to take a day, or a week off, I can.  I just love what I do and don’t feel like I need a break.

What does all of this mean?  What it means to me is that you MUST have a daily action plan or daily mode of operations for your network marketing business.  You do not need to copy the sample plans I have provided, but you do need to develop your own daily mode of operations that is productive and lets you work smart.

I learned in the Army a long time ago that failing to plan is planning to fail.  Just developing a game plan that makes sense to you is nearly half the battle.  The other half is EXECUTING your plan consistently, which is obviously the most important step.

Final Thoughts

In summary, all successful network marketers have a daily action plan, daily routine, or daily mode of operations to grow their network marketing business.  The beauty of having a plan is that you know exactly what steps and activities you need to do every day to propel your business forward!  You simply make a commitment to follow your plan every day UNTIL you succeed and reach your goals.

    I have a written daily action plan for my business that I try to carry out each day. I have dedicated hours to various tasks within my plan which includes talking to prospects, following up with some people via email, training my people by talking to them about products and plans and some hours I spend for other activities such as advertising, reading, blogging etc. This is working well for me and every now and then I make alterations in the plan accordingly.

      No matter what type of business, a plan is one of the most important parts to having success. If we make a plan and follow it consistently, we should see results. There may be times we need to make slight adjustments, and when we do, I suggest making one change at a time. By doing this, you can see the results. If we make multiple changes all at once, we cannot see what is working and what isn’t. It doesn’t matter if your business is traditional, or MLM, you need to have a business plan.

    You are correct. I know from experience that if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. The plans you put here seem quite reasonable. Putting the numbers gives us a good idea on what can be achieved through following these simple plans. I do believe you also have to put it in writing and somewhere where you will see it daily. If not, you will not follow the plan.
