Chuck’s MLM Weekly Wisdom # 72
Dear Network Marketer:
Welcome to this week’s edition of Chuck’s MLM Weekly Wisdom. I appreciate you being a valued subscriber and I hope you get value from this week’s training.
# 1 Asking for the Sale
Even if you show someone the plan and they want to join, if you don’t ask them to BUY they won’t sign up. The same things holds true with your prospective customers. Whenever you give a presentation ask them to buy. People need to be told EXACTLY what to do next. You can simply say “what questions do you need answered before we get you started today?” That is my closing statement. I don’t believe in pressuring or hard-selling anyone, but if you don’t ask for the sale you typically won’t get it!
# 2 Video of the Week
Here is the video of the week from YouTube. This is a webinar that Dale Calvert put out. He is one of my favorite and most trusted trainers. This video is called “the road to $10k per month in network marketing.” It’s worth watching and taking notes. Watch it now.
# 3 How Often Should You Follow Up?
The real money is in the follow-up. Most businesses in the real world, and most network marketers, suck at following up. In most cases, you will need to follow up with someone five to TWENTY times before they actually join or buy. It’s just human nature. Very few people will just sign up on the spot. Most people I personally sponsor take anywhere from one to three months and ten to twenty follow ups before they actually join my team. It’s crazy. Be patient with people and have a good follow up plan. Stay in touch with EVERY person you have ever talked to about the business or products at least once every few months until they buy or die!
# 4 Suggested Book
Right now I’m reading the book “The Compound Effect” by Darren Hardy. This is my first time reading the book. It’s about doing the little things day in and day out to become a better person and to reach our goals. It’s our daily habits that ultimately determine where we end up in life. We are all slaves to our habits, but we all have the ability to change those habits anytime we choose to. This book is about forming the winning habits you need to reach your goals. This book is a wonderful read and I highly recommend it. Order a copy on Amazon!
# 5 Getting Organized in Your Business
You need to get organized in your business so you can work smart. Here’s what I suggest you do. First off, get a day planner. You can buy a good one for about $20. Each Sunday night, plan out your week. Write down what days you will do the business, at what times, and what activities you will focus on during that time. Before you go to bed each night, write down a “to-do” list for the following day. Prioritize your list and make sure you get the most important things done first.
Next, you should set up a work space in your home. If you have a home office, use it. If not, find a set space you can work. Work in that same space every time you work on your business. You should also get a simple filing system, so you can keep track of your prospects, leads and team members.
Here are a few supplies you should have.
- Three ring binder
- Document protector
- File case or box
- Index cards
- Day planner
- Pens and Pencils
- Address book
- USB/thumb drive
Being organized lets you work smart and stay on track. What do you think?
# 6 Marathon vs. Sprint
I’m going to tell you what most people in our industry aren’t willing to tell you. If you are working your business on a “part time” basis, it’s probably going to take you five to ten YEARS to build a large team. There, I said it. Some people act as if this is a bad thing. The truth is five to ten years is NOTHING. The time will go by anyway. Why not build it big by staying persistent and consistent?
This is a marathon, not a sprint. It takes time to build a successful business of any kind. Considering you are just working your business a few hours a week, it’s still a great deal. Get rid of that short-term thinking and realize that anything worth achieving takes time.
Even if it took you 20 YEARS to build up a substantial network marketing business, it would be worth it! Be the tortoise, not the hare. Do your money producing activities every day, stay with ONE company, and stay the course. That is the key to success. There are no shortcuts!

# 8 Something You Should Know
I want to share something personal today that I normally don’t tell many people. Here it is. On an average day I get 100 to 200 emails with people trying to promote the newest shiny object or business opportunity. On an average day I get five to 20 people calling me, or one of those damn auto-dialers, pitching their deal. In an average month, I get one to two postcards with people pitching their business. Over the last ten years, I have not been prospected ONCE face-to-face about a business opportunity. Isn’t that crazy?
It seems like just about everyone has taken their business online or to the phones, and most people have overlooked face-to-face prospecting. I personally believe there is a HUGE opportunity for anyone looking to find new customers and distributors face-to-face.
Of course, this is just my opinion, and many of you will disagree.
By all means, use the phone and internet to leverage yourself, but don’t forget face-to-face contact either. There are prospects everywhere. Most of us come in contact with over 100 people a day. Put a smile on your face, stick your hand out, be nice, and say hello to people. You never know where your next conversation will take you.
