Chuck’s MLM Weekly Wisdom # 38 – May 27, 2015

Dear Network Marketer:

I hope you are happy, healthy and well.  Welcome to this week’s edition of Chuck’s MLM Weekly Wisdom.  Enjoy the training.

# 1 Tip of the Week

This week’s tip of the week is “the key to retaining team members is to provide a bigger mission for the team than the acquisition of a check.”

This is a quote from top earners John and Tiffany Malott.  My takeaway is that you need to create a team culture in your organization, something that people are proud to be part of.  You have to realize that everyone wants to belong to something bigger than themselves and feel like they are an important part of the team.  People like to associate with groups of people who have similar goals, desires and interests.

One of the key lessons I learned during my time in Amway was the importance of creating a team culture.  Many of the successful top distributors in that company have kept their teams together for 20 to 40 YEARS.  They did that by creating a powerful system, culture and environment and helped people grow and gave them a sense of belonging.  You should try to do the same thing in your business.

# 4 Suggested Videos

Here are a few YouTube videos I recently watched and thought you might enjoy.

# 5 Book of the Week

This week’s book of the week is “Making My First Ten Million” by Brian Carruthers.  This is a short, but good book designed to use with your prospects.  You can read it in about 10 minutes. It’s designed to educate people about the importance of having a leveraged income and it talks about how network marketing is the best way to do that.  You can read my review to learn more about it.

# 6 Quote of the Week

The quote of the week this week is “most people in network marketing spend their time looking for leaders rather than becoming the leader they are trying to attract.  If they would just become the person, then the leaders would begin to migrate to them.” ~ Steve Fisher

My Take: This is so true.  You attract more of what you already are.  People join your team because of the value they perceive that you have.  Improve your skills, quality, and success and you will attract better quality prospects.

# 7 Product of the Week

The featured product of the week this week is the Attraction Marketing Formula.  By checking out the link here, you get free access to a 10 day boot camp on attraction marketing and you get the opportunity to learn more about the course.

# 8 Suggested Blog Posts

Here are some trending posts on my blog that I thought you might enjoy.

# 9 In the Spotlight

This week’s featured distributor is Todd Smith. This guy is a legend in the industry.  He’s been with Unicity for about 20 years now and he’s earned close to $20 million.  He’s a humble guy, honest, smart, and extremely dedicated.  He’s the author of the book, “The Little Things Matter.” You should watch his interview with Eric Worre and check out his website to learn more about him.  You can also like Todd Smith on Facebook.

# 10 Weekly Challenge

My challenge for you this week is to talk to three people a day every day for the next 7 days. You can do this face to face, on Facebook, by phone or whatever method works best for you. Invite these three people to take a look at the presentation or your products.  Do it daily, every day, and I will be willing to bet you find at least one new customer and one new distributor in the next seven days.  Are you up for the challenge?

Ah, the role of the mission within MLM. Chasing a check cannot be the sole motive, because for most people that is not enough to keep them committed for an extended period of time. Having group ownership and establishing a mission/vision bigger than that is what keeps people focused and connected in the long run.

Tip #6 speaks volumes to me! Becoming the leader you are trying to attract TRULY is the key! We have all said to ourselves, “if i could only FIND those 1 to 3 people, then my business will blossom” but what we really should say is, “how can I become the leader that champions are attracted to?” Great post as always!

Another great batch of weekly wisdom Chuck. Thank you.

Thanks Chuck and have a great week.

Re: Team Culture…. This is one of my favorite parts of being involved in MLM ~ the people. This is an environment where you can choose (most of the time) who you work with. People you enjoy and like you stated, like-minded. Our group is one made up of many ethical professionals, but also one with a great sense of humour as well. Many of us have known each other for so long, that we have become good friends. Our sponsor who is responsible for pulling this team together set the stage for a team that would encourage, help and be accessible to one another. When we go off to meetings or conventions, we have a blast and are always looking out for one another.

I love all of the “extra’s” you included today and look forward to making my way down the list.

Thanks Chuck for such rich training!

A team culture is a huge part of success in network marketing. As Georgia pointed out, you get a wide variety of personalities that give everyone no matter their skill level, the opportunity to learn other simple and difficult techniques. It could be telling a simple joke or saying a simple sentence that can draw people to sign up. The lowest person on the team can sometimes teach the highest person; that is what is great about teams.
