Chuck’s MLM Weekly Wisdom # 32 – April 15, 2015

Chuck’s MLM Weekly Wisdom # 32: April 15, 2015

Dear Network Marketer:

I hope you are happy, healthy and well.  Here is this week’s weekly wisdom.  Enjoy.

# 1 Quote of the Week – This week’s quote of the week is from Mark Yarnell.  His quote talks about the value of building customers from your warm market.  Here is what he said.  Build a customer base among family and friends prior to building a downline.  In other words, start out by talking with the people you know and leading with the products.  This helps you make some immediate profit and gets your business off the ground.  You can always upgrade some of these folks into happy customers in the months to come.

# 2 A 30 Day Experiment – I’m going to issue you a simple challenge today.  I hope you will take it seriously.  My challenge is to draw a line in the sand and go “all in” for just 30 days in your network marketing business.  Give it your 100% best shot and see what you can accomplish.  Most people have never given their business 100%, not even close.  Set some business hours.  Come up with a game plan and strategy and work really, really hard for the next 30 days.  I know you will be amazed at what you will accomplish.  Your results will probably motivate you to do it again the following month!

# 3 Book of the Week – This week’s book of the week is Network Marketing for Facebook: Proven Social Media Techniques for Direct Sales & MLM Success by Jim Lupkin.  I actually just finished reading this book last night and really enjoyed it.  The books offers step by step instructions on how to leverage Facebook to grow your MLM Business.  More importantly, it has a nice collection of interviews and success stories with top earners who have built their MLM Businesses primarily through Facebook.  I give the book 4 of 5 stars and think it is worth reading.  Order a copy on Amazon.

# 4 How to Build Relationships with Others – Everyone always talks about the importance of building relationships.  Relationships are the glue that keeps everything together in your business.  But most people don’t know how to do it properly.  Here are a few ideas I’ve learned through the years.  First off, send people handwritten notes from time to time.  This is one of the easiest ways to show people you care about them.

Another way to build relationships is to spend time with people. Spend one on one time with your team members and get to know them.  Find out their hopes and dreams.  Work closely to help them.  Show them that you care by the amount of time you spend with them.

Another thing you can do is take your eyes off yourself and put yourself in the other person’s shoes.  Having empathy is one of the best ways to build relationships.  Realize that no one is perfect and accept each person as they are.

Another thing you can do is send them a gift once or twice a year.  It doesn’t have to be anything expensive, just a token of appreciation.  It could be a $5 gift card, a handmade gift, a product sample, or anything else.  It’s the thought that counts.

Probably the most important thing you can do to build relationships is to be a person of your word.  Say what you do and do what you say.  Be accountable and reliable.  If you say you are going to do something, make sure you do it!

# 5 Featured Videos – Here are a few videos I found on YouTube that I thought you would enjoy.

# 6 Developing a Vision – To succeed in anything in life, you have to see things before they exist. Simply put, you need vision.  That is one of the key traits of successful entrepreneurs.  Most people overestimate what they can do in 90 days and underestimate what they can do in a few years.  Knowing your WHY and setting goals is very important for your business success.  You have to know where you are headed, you need a good motivator to accomplish it (your why) and you need an action plan to follow.  Start thinking of your goals from year to year, not day to day or month to month.  See things before they exist. Work toward your goals and never stop. Stay persistent and consistent and stay the course until you are successful.

# 7 Featured Blog Posts – Here are a few trending blog posts on my blog this week that I thought you might enjoy.

# 8 This Day in History – April 15, 1952 was the maiden flight of the B-52 Stratofortress.

# 9 Recommended Training Products – Here are two books that I HIGHLY recommend you read especially if you are trying to build your network marketing business online.  You can get both books on Amazon.  The books are Magnetic Sponsoring by Mike Dillard and How I Made My First Million on the Internet and How You Can Too! by Ewen Chia.  These two books are the exact blueprint I use to build my network marketing business online.

# 10 Fun Fact – All of the bacteria in the human body collectively weighs about four pounds.

# 11 Build Your Business with Events – Events are a very powerful way to build your network marketing business.  You could set up a booth at a trade show, job fair, health fair, or any other local event.  You could work the booth with a few of your team members.  It’s a great way to collect leads and find new customers and distributors. Take 20 minutes and search online to find some events in your local area.  See what comes up.  See what the costs are.  Do your research and if nothing else, make a commitment to set up at one event and see how it goes.

If money is tight, and you can’t afford to set up at an event, then I would suggest attending the event as a guest and network with all of the other vendors and guests.  That’s still a great way to get more leads.

Learn more about setting up at events.

You mentioned the part about having a vision. This is so important. A vision is not necessarily a dream, it is picturing exactly where you want to be in a certain amount of time. It is a plan within your mind.

The key with that is to put your vision down in writing. By doing so, you can read it from time to time, especially when there are difficulties and realize why you are doing what you are doing.

I truly believe that just like planning, if a person doesn’t have a vision, they are spinning their wheels. We must have a vision of where we are going.

    Good post Chuck.

Starting with people you know is a great place to start. You are already comfortable with them and so you can easily share with them. However, a person shouldn’t solely rely on their friends and family as the basis of the business. I know people who feel like they only need friends and family and then wonder why they are not seeing growth because it just stops there. You have to move outside of your inner circle at some point to expand and start to see significant growth. Otherwise you’ll just peak and either remain stagnant or even decrease from there.

I agree. However, most people can sponsor at least 10-20 people by working through their warm market effectively. After that, start working with their friends and sphere of influence, while you focus on prospecting and generating leads.
