Chuck’s MLM Weekly Wisdom # 30 – April 1, 2015

Dear Network Marketer:

I hope you are happy, healthy and well.  Here is this week’s weekly wisdom.  Enjoy.

# 1 The Power of 10 a Day – I want to take a moment or two and talk to you about the 10 a day concept.  Did you know that if you called or prospected 10 people a day about your network marketing business (every day) you would talk with 3,650 people per year?  Let’s assume that one in five people agree to listen to a presentation, one in five of those people sign up as a distributor, and one in five people who sign up as a distributor build a small business of their own.  And let’s also suppose that one in five people who decide to build a business are a rock star.  What would your numbers look like at the end of the year?  Here is a hypothetical example using the numbers just mentioned.

  • 3650 people prospected
  • 730 presentations given
  • 146 people sponsored
  • 29 people who build up a decent part time business
  • 5 ROCK STARS who build it big!

Would it be worth your time to do this?  Could talking to just 10 people a day change your life and business?  I think so.  The only real question left is “will you do it?”

# 2 Picking Your Marketing Strategy – There are literally tons of different ways to generate leads and build your network marketing business.  No one method is better than any other method.  What works for someone else might not work for you, and vice versa.  What matters most is that you pick ONE business building strategy, learn everything you can about it, and stick with it day in and day out.  So many folks try to do so many different things at once in their business that they end up accomplishing very little.  Your key to success is to find a marketing and business building strategy that makes sense to you, matches your personality and strengths and then focus on that one strategy and take massive action UNTIL you reach your goals.

# 3 Motivating Your Team – First off, it’s not your job to motivate anyone but yourself.  You don’t want to be in the business of dragging people across the finish line.  Trust me.  I’ve tried to do that.  Instead, your primary goal is to find self-motivated people who have the desire and work ethic to build a successful business of their own.  If you do decide to try and motivate your team, the best thing you can do is motivate your group from the bottom up, rather than from the top down.  Light a fire in the basement of your group and watch the entire leg BURN with excitement.  There is NOTHING more exciting than having someone excited on level 10, 20 or 30 and then watching that excitement motivate everyone above them.  Remember that the fear of loss is the greatest motivator.  Give each person on your team something to lose, by building depth in each leg, and there’s a good chance that many of them will come around and get serious about the business.

# 5 The Strategic Work In Your Network Marketing Business – I’d like to take a moment or two and talk about the strategic work in your network marketing business.  The strategic work is the “big picture thinking” and “planning.”  It’s the game-planning.  It’s stepping back from the minutia of your business and taking the time to look at the big picture.  It’s when you look at your business from the outside in, rather than from the inside out.  It’s when you take some time to set goals, formulate a plan and assess what you are doing.  This is the work that often gets neglected by most network marketers.  I encourage you to set aside one hour a week, every week to step away from the day to day work of your business and analyze things.  Ask yourself some tough questions.  Evaluate what is and what isn’t working.  Review your goals and set new goals.  Plan your time for the upcoming week.  Review your vision board and WHY.  Doing this for an hour each week will clear your mind and strengthen your purpose.

# 6 The Most Important Skill in Network Marketing – The most important skill to succeed in our industry is LEADERSHIP.  Anyone can make some money by retailing or recruiting, but the big money in this industry comes from leadership!  It comes from teaching, coaching, mentoring, and training others.  It comes from finding and developing leaders in depth.  Your real goal is to find and develop leaders in your organization who are completely independent of you!  In the first year or two in your business, you will have to spend most of your time recruiting and team building.  As you hit the three to four year mark, you should shift your efforts and focus on building leadership in your team!  By all means, never stop personally recruiting, but make sure you spend most of your time developing and finding leaders in depth!

# 7 How to Overcome Fear and Doubt – Everyone has some fears and doubts.  That’s perfectly normal.  Many people sit back with analysis paralysis because they fear success and/or they fear failure.  I’ve found from personal experience that the only way to overcome fear and doubt is to TAKE ACTION.  That’s right, action cures fear!  When you are out and about doing the activities you know you should be doing, your fear will go away!  It’s crazy, but true.  The more you do something the less you fear it.  When you are busy you don’t have time to be scared!  So if you are sitting back reading this right now and you have fears about success or failure, roll up your sleeves and get to work if you want the fear to go away.

You are so correct. Speaking to 10 people a day is not difficult, and when you put the numbers in this format, a person could do quite well by following that simple principle.

I also like how you said to choose one marketing strategy and stick with it. I have been guilty of trying multiple marketing strategies at one time and it doesn’t work well because I lost track and get confused.

You also pointed out the importance of setting goals. I feel these are very important. Without goals, we have no finish line to shoot for. I highly recommend that everyone set both short term and long term goals.

The Power of 10 a Day is a simple way to get people thinking about how they can grow their MLM business. If you think about all the places you go in a day, it really isn’t hard to find 10 people to talk to. I think people just often aren’t aware of all the opportunities that they actually do have in a day to reach out to people and perhaps gain some new prospects.
