Today, I want to talk to you about how to buy cheap ezine ads to promote your business online. This is a marketing strategy I have used for more than ten years now with much success. Any network marketer, blogger, affiliate marketer or online business owner can leverage ezine advertising to promote their business. In the paragraphs below, I will teach you the ins and outs of doing that so you can decide if it is a good option for your business.
What is an Ezine?
An ezine is an online newsletter. It’s an email newsletter geared around a specific niche. Basically, someone (or a business) has built up an email subscriber list, and they send a daily, weekly or monthly email newsletter to their list. The newsletter normally has an article, a quote, a few tips, a helpful video, and some strategically placed ads. Its purpose is to deliver value to their readers and generate an additional income by selling ad space or promoting affiliate products.
What is an Ezine Ad?
An ezine ad is simply an advertisement (normally a link) within an ezine. It could also be a banner ad or sponsored article. The difference between a solo ad and an ezine ad is that a solo ad is sent out all by itself, in its own email, whereas an ezine ad is an ad placed within an ezine.
Why Should You Advertise in Ezines?
There are several reasons you should buy cheap ezine ads.
First off, they can be very targeted. If you take the time to shop around, you can find an ezine for just about any niche you can imagine. Examples might include weight loss, horse back riding, make money online, network marketing, gardening, lifting weights, marriage, etc.
The readers of the ezine are interested in the topic, so placing an ad in that ezine could be a great marketing channel if what you are offering would benefit the readers.
Next, ezine ads are normally cheap, usually in the $10 to $100 range, depending on the size of the ezine (the number of subscribers) and the niche. If you are on a limited advertising budget, buying cheap ezine ads can be a very cost-effective way to market your product or service.
Furthermore, ezine ads are scalable. In most niches, there are hundreds of ezines, if not more, around any given topic. Once you find an ad that works, you can use it in multiple ezines and get even better results.
Finally, ezine ads are quick. Normally, from the time you place an ezine ad until the time it gets emailed out is less than a week. Plus, you can use a tracking link to see how well your ezine ad converts for you.
Of course, ezine advertising should not be your only marketing strategy, but it could be one part of it.
Where Do You Buy Cheap Ezine Ads?
Your options will vary a lot depending on your niche. The best thing you can do is go to Google or Bing and do a search for your niche plus the word ezine (or email newsletter), and see what comes up. Examples might include:
- Horseback Riding Ezines
- Network Marketing Ezines
- Make Money Online Ezines
- Weight Loss Ezines
You could also replace the word ezine with email newsletter or newsletter when you search online. This will lead to even more results.
I would also search for websites in your niche and reach out to each webmaster to see if they have an ezine you could potentially advertise in. They might not offer ezine ads for sale on their website, but might be open to the idea after you have a conversation with them. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Options for Ezine Advertising
There are normally several different options for ezine ads. Those options include:
# 1) Banner Ad: This is when you use a banner ad. If using a banner ad, make sure the text is large and easy to read, include a nice photo and make sure you have a strong call to action.
# 2) Text Link: This is when you use a text link in the ezine. Basically, you pick a word or phrase you want to hyperlink and the publisher does that for you.
# 3) Solo Ad: This would be separate from an ezine, when the publisher sends out your email ad all by itself in a separate email. This is the ultimate win-win if you can find a way to get the publisher to do this for you.
# 4) Featured Article: This could be where you write a short two to five paragraph article for the ezine to promote your offer.
# 5) Top Placement: Your ad placed at the top of the ezine, before the first paragraph of content.
# 6) Middle Placement: Your ad placed in the middle of the ezine, typically in between two sub headings.
# 7) Bottom Placement: Your ad placed at the bottom of the ezine, normally below the publisher’s signature.
Tips for Success with Ezine Ads
Here are some of my best success tips if you intend on using ezine advertising as part of your marketing strategy.
# 1) Use Tracking Links
No matter what you do, use a different tracking link for each ezine that you use. That way you can see how many clicks, how many leads and how many sales, you generated from each ad. Track every ad in every ezine so you know where you stand at all times. If you don’t track it, you can’t improve it. If you don’t track it, you won’t know where your sales are coming from.
# 2) Test Everything
You have to test out different ads in different ezines to see what converts best. Just because you try one thing once and it doesn’t work, doesn’t mean that a small tweak won’t make a big difference. Never stop testing. Even one small improvement can have a HUGE positive impact with your results.
# 3) Negotiate the Price
Always ask for a cheaper price for the ezine ad, or ask for a discount for multiple ads placed. I always negotiate with advertisers. The worst thing they will say is NO.
# 4) Match Your Offer with the Audience
Always make sure the readers of the ezine are part of your target market for whatever it is that you are promoting. Don’t try to sell steak to vegetarians. Your message must match your market.
# 5) Run Your Ad Multiple Times
If you’re only going to run an ad in an ezine one time, you will not succeed. Be willing to run your ad at least five times in each ezine. Most people need to see something multiple times before they respond.
# 6) Start Small and Scale
Always start small and test your results. If you are fortunate to have a large marketing budget, don’t spend it all at once. Start with a $10 or $20 test and ramp up your efforts as you tweak things and figure out what works best for you.
# 7) Only Send People to a Capture Page
You should never send people directly to your sales page first. Always send people to a capture page first and then redirect them to the sales page after they opt in. Your goal is to generate a lead first. Your # 1 objective is to build your list. As you generate leads, make sure you have a good email follow-up sequence to stay in touch with them.
# 8) Look for Websites That Don’t Offer Ezines
Make a list of 10-20 popular websites in your niche and reach out to each webmaster to see if they offer a weekly email newsletter or ezine. Ask them if they offer ezine ads. Many webmasters have not even thought of doing this, but would be open to the idea if you asked them. These lists will be the best because they aren’t tapped out or oversold.
Final Thoughts
In conclusion, these are some of my best tips on how to buy cheap ezine ads to promote your business online. No matter what type of business you own, I highly recommend you consider purchasing ezine ads. They are a simple and cost-effective way to promote your business online, generate more leads and make more sales.
