Building Your MLM Business Slow or Fast: Which Makes More Sense?

Today, I want to talk to you about building your MLM Business slow or fast, and which approach makes the most sense to me.  I’m going to share some tips and insights I’ve learned during the past 15-years in this great industry. Keep in mind this is simply my opinion.

The Popular Fable

There is a popular fable about the tortoise and the hare.  You’ve probably heard it before.

Both animals are in a race.  The hare takes off sprinting and takes a commanding lead in the race, while the tortoise is slow and steady.  At some point the hare slacks off and takes a nap.  By the time the hare wakes up, the “steady pace” tortoise takes the lead and wins the race.

The moral of the story is that “steady pace wins the race.”  Not so in network marketing.

You Need a Sense of Urgency

This business is difficult when you build it slow and much easier when you build it fast.  Most leaders won’t tell you that when you first get started in the business, but it’s the truth.  It took me almost 12-years to learn this valuable lesson.  Don’t make the same mistake that I did.

Sponsoring 1-2 people per month is MUCH better than doing nothing at all.  In fact, approximately 90% of ALL reps in our industry don’t even sponsor 1-2 people a month.  How crazy is that?

Even if you did sponsor 1-2 new reps each month, it’s not going to get you to your big goals any time soon.  Slow and steady is okay, but not if you want a big network marketing business in the next few years.

To create big success, it’s VITAL that you do a SURGE of activity in your business.  You need to have a sense of urgency and you need to compress your time by doubling and tripling your activities. You need to do what most people aren’t willing to do.

Bring On the 90-Day Blitz

You need to do more work in 90-days than most people do in their business in a few years. This is often known as a 90-day challenge or 90-day blitz.  It’s when you dig deep and work really hard for 90-days to put in minimum 40-50 personally sponsored people in your business.

This creates MOMENTUM in your business.  It creates excitement in your business. It gives you enough people to work with and taproot.

Momentum is hard to get and easy to lose.  Trust me.  To succeed quickly or succeed at all, you need momentum.  This is when your business takes on a life of its own and starts to grow without you.

The only way to create momentum is to do a 90-day challenge.  There is no alternative, not that I’ve found.

I highly suggest you get with your sponsor or mentor and come up with a 90-day game plan for your business. Set some goals, make a game plan, and create a daily mode of operations. Put your blinders on and get to work.

Act as if you have one-million dollars invested in your business and you only have one year to earn it back.

What Most Reps Do

What do most people in our industry do?  Nothing.  Just look in your own genealogy report and see for yourself.

The average person in our industry does NOTHING to grow a business.  That is a fact.  Very few people take their business seriously, because they have no FINANCIAL risk.  It’s easy to put your business on the back burner when you only have a couple hundred dollars invested in your business.

Most reps make the mistake of dabbling.  Or worse, they keep stopping and starting.  They work a little bit, then stop for a couple of weeks.  Then they start-up again.  When you start and stop you kill your momentum and are almost 100% guaranteed to fail.  I think starting and stopping is the kiss of death in this industry.

What the MLM Top Earners Do

When you study the top earners in our industry, you will find that a HUGE majority of them did one or more 90-day challenges to launch their business and create momentum.  Some did one 90-day blitz, some did a few.

On the other hand, a very, very small percentage of top earners simply followed the slow and steady approach their entire time in the business.  Some did, but they are not the norm.

What you will see is that most top earners switched over to the slow and steady approach AFTER they created momentum in their business, by doing multiple 90-day blitzes.

How About You?

If you feel stuck… if you are ready to take your network marketing business to the next level, you should really consider doing a 90-day blitz.  You really can accomplish a lot in 90-days if you are focused and disciplined and stick with it.

On the other hand, if you are determined to just keep chugging along, being slow and steady, just realize it will take a LONG time to create momentum and build a big team.

Final Thoughts

There you have it folks.  Only you can decide what is best for you.  After all, it’s your business. Just remember that you have to decide between building your MLM Business slow or fast.  If I were you, I would take the fast approach.
