One of the fastest and easiest ways to build your MLM Business is via public speaking. I’ve found that public speaking is a very effective and easy way to position yourself as an expert and reach a large amount of prospects at one time. It’s a great way to generate leads, find customers and sponsor new distributors into your team. Best of all, it’s free and quite easy to do.
Did you know there are literally hundreds of organizations out there that are looking for public speakers? Assuming you have a good message and decent speaking skills, many of these groups will let you speak to their organization. In some cases, you might even get paid to do it!
In the paragraphs below I will share a few steps you can follow to build your MLM Business via public speaking.
STEP # 1 Pick a Topic
The first thing you need to do is pick a topic that you want to speak about. You want to pick a topic with a good amount of interest. A few simple ideas include: how to make money from home, how to create residual income, how to lose weight, or any other topic geared around the benefits of your products or business opportunity. Focus on providing value, not giving a sales pitch. For example, if you specialize in weight loss products, you could give a speech “10 Tips on Losing Weight Without Exercise.”
STEP # 2 Find a Venue
Your next step is to find a local venue. Fortunately, there are lots of places to speak. If possible, you want to find a venue that is comprised of people in your target market. You could speak at a Toastmasters Club, Chamber of Commerce Meeting, Rotary Club, a local library or just about anywhere else. To start out, make a list of organizations in your local area and contact them to see if they are looking for speakers.
STEP # 3 Craft Your Message
Once you have a venue, you want to craft your message. You want your message to be well organized and to the point. Make sure your message isn’t one big sales pitch. Focus on providing great educational information that will benefit your audience. Once you’ve finished your message, practice giving the speech a few times. Find out how long you have to speak and make sure your speech is the right time duration. Create note cards or a list of bullet points to follow. Whatever you do, don’t write out your speech word for word.
STEP # 4: Give Your Speech
The next step is to give your speech. At the event, give your speech. Stick to the amount of time you are authorized. In fact, you want to know your time limit ahead of time so you don’t go over the time limit. Dress like a professional. Check your breath and grooming. Be confident and do the best job possible. Remember that the content of your speech is the most important thing. Even if you stutter a few times and are anxious, you will do fine. Also, make sure that you have someone introduce you before you give the speech. Write out a catchy bio for the person to introduce you properly.
STEP # 5: Follow Up
The purpose of your speech is to position yourself as an authority and generate leads for your business. The money is in the follow up. Make sure you have a way to get the contact information of everyone in the crowd. The best way to do this is to have a raffle or give away a free prize (one of your products). Have everyone put their business card in a bowl and draw a winner. A couple days after the event contact everyone you have a business card for to see if they are interested in learning more about the products or business opportunity.
STEP # 6: Find More Speaking Engagements
Once you’ve done this a few times, you should have a better idea as to whether it will help you grow your network marketing business. What I would encourage you to do is try to find one speaking engagement per week. Depending on the size of the venue, this is more than enough to keep you busy (especially with the follow-up).
In summary, these are my best tips to build your MLM Business via public speaking. Your key to success is to be consistent and give as many speeches as you can. Also, you must have a game plan for lead generation and follow up. Finally, if you can’t find an organization to speak at, you could also host your own events at a local library or civic club.
