In today’s post, I’d like to share a few of my best tips about how to build an International MLM Team. I’ll also talk about why you should consider it. I’ve been fortunate to do this myself, so hopefully you can learn from my successes and mistakes.
Why Build an International MLM Business?
First and foremost, we live in a global economy. As of 2020, there are approximately 320 million Americans, but there are more than 7 BILLION people worldwide. If you are only focusing on recruiting Americans, or people in your own home country, you are focused on a VERY SMALL percentage of the entire world population.
From personal experience, and this is just my opinion, I’ve found that the international markets have the best prospects for network marketing (outside of the USA). That is where you see the big growth in our industry. I believe this happens because of our high standard of living in America.
In America, you can be broke, but still have a roof over your head, the newest iPhone, a 80″ plasma flat screen television, a check from the government, and transportation. Not many other countries have our high standard of living. As a result, many Americans (not all) have become complacent and comfortable. They just don’t have the same fire in their belly that many of our international comrades do (just my observations). International markets, generally speaking, seem to be much more entrepreneurial and hungry for opportunity than many of my fellow countrymen.
How to Build an International MLM Team
When it comes to recruiting internationally, and building an International MLM Team, it’s not as complex as it sounds. If your MLM Company does business in more than one country, this should happen by default, even if you aren’t trying to do it yourself. That being said, if you are trying to recruit internationally, here are some simple things you can do.
# 1: Start Locally, But Think Globally
This business is funny. People who live in the city will drive out to small towns or the countryside to build their business. And people from the small towns think they need to drive to the city to grow their business. Blossom where you planted. Start where you live and reach out to the people you know. Whether you live in a small town or big city, there are plenty of good prospects to choose from.
Start with your warm market when you join the business. Work THROUGH those people. If you are 18 years or older, you know at least 2,000 people by first name. Have you already approached ALL of those people yet? I highly doubt it.
It makes no sense to focus on international growth when you haven’t even contacted the people you know yet.
# 2: Ask Your Team First
Before you start looking for people to sponsor internationally, make sure you reach out to EVERYONE your team first. Let’s say your company is getting ready to open for business in Germany. Have a contest with your team. Have everyone brainstorm who they know in Germany. If you have a team of 100 people, I’d bet you could easily come up with 200-500 names of people living in Germany that you and your team can share the business with.
Using this approach is the best use of your time, energy and money. Work through your team and help them sponsor people THEY KNOW who live in Germany. Does that make sense?
# 3: Consider Traveling Abroad, If….
If you are retired, already successful in MLM, and/or can afford to it, you may want to travel aboard to the country you are thinking about expanding in. This is probably not a good fit for 99% of the people in our industry, but for a select few, it could be a viable option.
Research the country, make sure you can speak the language or find an interpreter, and consider traveling abroad. You might need to stay there for 1-3 months to get things going, but that could be a smart move. Ideally, you want to find one leader who lives in that country and help them build a huge team, so they can support the people who live locally in their country.
This is what I plan on doing starting in 2021 and 2022.
# 4: Advertise in Other Countries
Another option you have is advertising in specific countries. The internet make this very easy to do. You can leverage different social media sites or the search engines and do paid advertising in specific countries. It could be costly, if you don’t know what you are doing, but it could work. This is how I currently sponsor internationally, mostly through pay per click ads.
# 5: SEO
If you are one of the few people who is well versed in search engine optimization (SEO), like I am, this is a great option. You can focus on specific keywords, which include the country you are targeting. Heck, you can even do this with blog posts and YouTube videos.
For example, if your company is expanding to Japan, you could make a few videos or articles with titles such as:
- New MLM Company in Japan
- Best MLM Company in Japan
- Startup MLM Company in Japan
- Japanese Network Marketing Company
- Best Weight Loss MLM Company in Japan
With these examples, I’m sure you understand what I am talking about. If the whole SEO thing is “over your head” just ignore this step.
