In today’s post, I want to share some of my best MLM success tips for 2018 and beyond. It’s almost 2018. It’s that time of year when people set resolutions and goals for their life and business.
If you’re tired of mediocrity in your network marketing business, this post is for you. Listed below are 10 of my best MLM success tips for 2018. I hope you will evaluate yourself in each one of these areas and look for ways to improve your business. Keep in mind, the tips are listed in no particular order.

# 1 Set Your Goals & Develop Your Plan
The first step to success in your business is to establish your business goals for the year, and for each month. Your goals must be specific. Pick a dollar amount you would like to earn within the next 12-months with your business. Make sure that dollar amount is realistic, based upon how many hours per week you will work your business, your skill-set, and how many people you are willing to talk to.
Once you do that, study your company’s compensation plan and determine what sized group, what rank in the company, and how much volume you will need to achieve to hit that monetary goal. Once you know those numbers, divide them by 12 and that’s how much volume you will have to do each month, to get where you want to be at the end of the year. As you go through these numbers, you will quickly find out if your goals are “out of whack” or if they are realistic. If they are unrealistic, modify your goals as needed. Remember to plan your work and work your plan.
# 2 Establish a Daily Mode of Operations
This lesson is one of my best MLM success tips for 2018. Successful people do certain things in a certain way. If you want to succeed in your network marketing business, you need to do certain things a certain way. Simply put, you need a daily mode of operations for your business. You need to know exactly what you are going to do each day to move your business forward. It should be a checklist of three to five critical tasks that must be completed each day.
You want to plan out your week, schedule business hours, and know what tasks you will do during those hours. Each morning, you should have a prioritized “to do” list with business tasks that must be completed that day. Never, ever let a day go by where you don’t do ALL the tasks on your business “to do” list. It takes discipline, but it’s very important if you want to succeed in your business. If you want to change your life you must change your routine.
# 3 Focus on Income Producing Activities
Not all activities in your business are created equal. Most activities are busy work. We get paid based on our productivity, not for being busy. You must learn to work smart. At the end of the day, we get paid to talk to prospects. We get paid to retail and recruit. These are the two money producing activities in our industry. Make sure you spend at least 90% of your business hours talking with prospects. If you’re not doing that, you’re only fooling yourself.
# 4 Study Marketing
The secret to success in every business is your ability to generate leads and your ability convert a percentage of those leads into paying customers. Show me a business that can generate endless leads on demand and I will show you a business that makes money. Take some time and study marketing. Study prospecting. Study sales. Study lead generation. Read books about it. Watch videos about it. Go to some marketing conferences. My breakthrough happened in this industry when I took the time to learn marketing.
# 5 Work on Your Personal Development
Your business will only grow as much as you do. Work on your personal development every single day, no matter what. Set aside 30-minutes per day for your personal development. Read inspiring books. Listen to tapes and CDs. Watch videos online that will teach you new skills. Find a mentor. Attend events that teach you new skills. Make it a goal to always be a little bit better tomorrow than you were today. Keep repeating that over and over, day in and day out, and the Compound Effect will kick in.
# 6 Talk to 5 People a Day
Folks, we get paid to talk to people. That’s it. If your mouth is closed your business is closed. Most people don’t even share their business with 10 people in a year, yet they wonder why their business won’t grow. Some people tell you to talk to 2 people a day. Yes, that’s better than doing nothing at all, but it still isn’t much. I believe you should talk to at least five to ten prospects per day as a part-timer and 30 to 50 prospects per day as a full-timer. If you take the time to learn marketing, like I talked about earlier in this post, this step will be pretty easy to do.
# 7 Follow a System
This is also one of my best MLM success tips for 2018. You need to follow a system. It doesn’t have to be your company’s or upline’s system, but you need a system for you and your team. This is nothing more than a standardized way to grow your business. In other words, what are your steps to find new prospects, share the business and products, follow-up, and train your team. If you’re brand new, I suggest you follow your company’s or upline’s system. On the other hand, if you have what you believe is a better way, and it works for you, and it can duplicate, you might want to use your own system instead. Personally, I use my own system in my business and it works great.
# 8 Stay Plugged In
This business is a team sport. Do not be an island and try to figure out everything all by yourself. Trust me, I’ve made that mistake myself many times in the past. Get plugged in with your upline and company’s training. Attend all the calls, meetings, webinars and local events. Go to your company’s annual convention. The beauty of staying plugged in is it helps maintain your belief level, teaches you new skills, and gets you around other distributors in the company who are doing great things with the business.
# 9 Focus
It’s hard to promote more than one business at a time. It’s hard to use 20 different marketing strategies at one time. What’s important is that you focus. Pick one business. Pick one, maybe two, marketing strategies. Put on your blinders and do nothing else. It’s better to be great at one thing, than okay at ten different things. One of the most common trends among people who struggle in this great industry is their inability to focus on one thing.
# 10 Work with the Willing
You cannot drag anyone else across the finish line or make them successful. Trust me, I’ve tried. Instead, you must work with the willing. No more than 10% of your team will be willing. That means if you have a team of 100 people, no more than 10 of them will be coachable or willing to work. The rest will be lazy, uninterested, or uncoachable. My suggestion is that you spend 90% of your time with these 10% of the people. Remember, you can’t turn a donkey into a stallion. Stop trying. Keep recruiting. Spend your time where it is deserved, not where it is needed.
