Today, I want to share 10 simple things you can do to advance your MLM Business this year.
If you’re like most network marketers, you feel stuck in a rut. Your business has either plateaued or is dying a quick death. You’re frustrated, losing money and simply don’t know what to do. If that describes you, this is the post for you.
What you see below are simple, practical things YOU can do, even on a tight budget and restricted time schedule, to move your business forward this year. I hope you find the information helpful.
# 1 Write Down Your Goals
If something isn’t written down on paper and given a deadline, it is a wish, not a goal. I suggest you take an hour and write down what you want to accomplish with your business this year. How much money do you want to make? How big of a team do you want to have? How many people do you want to sponsor? How much volume do you want to have? What rank level do you want to reach? Be as specific as possible.
Write down three to five goals you want to achieve this year for your business and then rank them in order of importance. Print out a few copies of your goals and post them on your bathroom mirror, in your day planner, in your office, next to your computer, and even keep a copy in your wallet or purse.
Once you know your goals you need to come up with a game-plan. How will you find leads? What is your marketing strategy? How many hours per day will you work your business? How many days per week will you work your business? Take the time to answer these questions and make sure your “work ethic” matches your goals.
# 2 Create a Daily Mode of Operations
Once you have clear goals written down, you need to establish your daily mode of operations. This is what you are going to do each day to accomplish your goals. A daily mode of operations should contain three to five money producing activities you will do every single day.
An example daily mode of operations is:
- Meet three new prospects when out and about
- Call two new prospects to set an appointment
- Follow up with one prospect previously contacted
- Reach out to one team member or customer for a care call
- Spend 10 minutes on personal development
Write down your daily mode of operations and NEVER ever let a day go by where you didn’t do everything on your list.
I use a simple technique called the index card technique. Every night, I take out a blank index card before I go to bed. I write down FIVE things I need to do the following day to grow my business. When I wake up the next morning, I complete those tasks in order of importance. I do this six days a week and it works for me very well.
# 3 Plan Out Your Week Each Week
Get a day planner and plan out your week. Every Sunday night take 30 minutes and plan out what you are going to do each day for your business. How many hours are you going to work? On what days will you work? What activities will you do when you work? If you don’t plan it, it won’t happen. Also, plan out time for family commitments, time to exercise, and any other responsibilities you might have. Failing to plan is planning to fail.
Having a plan is half the battle. The other half of the battle is to have the daily discipline to do the things you know you should be doing each day.
# 4 Work on Your Personal Development
Leaders are readers. If you aren’t reading a book that can teach you something new every single day, you are WAY behind the power curve. Make a commitment to read at least 15 minutes every single day and listen to one tape or CD a day. Enroll in automobile university and replace the music in your car with something that will help you with your business and teach you new skills.
Listen to audio training about sales, marketing, network marketing, communication, leadership, mindset, relationship building and a variety of other topics. You should also make it a point to attend one workshop or seminar every 90 days. If you aren’t growing yourself, your business won’t grow. Here are some of my favorite MLM Books.
# 5 Make at Least Two New Exposures Every Single Day
This business is a business of exposures. The more exposures you make the more people you will recruit and the more money you will make. I recommend you make a minimum of two new exposures every single day. This means you initiate conversations with at least two people you have never talked to before about the products or business.
Two would be the bare bones minimum. Ten to twenty is what you really want to do, but I know 99.99% of the people reading this will never commit to that. Even if you did just two exposures a day, five days a week, 50 weeks a year, you would contact 500 prospects. What would your business look like if you invited 500 people to check it out?
# 6 Create a Prospect Data Base
Not creating a database of names is one of my biggest regrets in this industry. Starting today, fill out an index card for EVERY person you ever talk to about the products or business. Write down on the index card how the conversation went. Keep track of their name, email and phone number at a minimum.
If you do this for every person you meet, you will never run out of prospects or names. If you connected with 5 people a day, you would have 1800+ index cards filled out at the end of the year. Do it for five years and you would have 9,000+ names.
If you stayed in touch with each person every six months I can assure you that you will sponsor more people into your business. The money really is in the list.
# 7 Study Marketing
My major breakthrough in this industry happened when I took the time to study marketing. To succeed in this business, you need to learn how to generate leads. Working with friends and family and prospects is great, IF you feel comfortable doing that. However, if that strategy doesn’t work for you, you need to come up with a lead generation strategy that matches your personality, skills and budget. Fortunately, there are hundreds of ways to get leads.
Ultimately, pick 1 or 2 lead generation strategies and then be a student of those strategies. Learn everything you can about them. Read books about those strategies, watch helpful YouTube videos and attend marketing seminars that will teach you additional information about your chosen strategies.
Once you learn how to generate endless leads on demand, the business becomes fun and easy.
# 8 Do a 90-Day Challenge
One of the best things you can do to advance your MLM Business this year is to do a 90-day challenge. This is when you go “all in” for 90-days, take massive action, and do more in 90-days than you normally do in a year. It’s a huge commitment, but it’s so worth it. # 9 Find a Mentor
Every successful person I know has a mentor. Athletes, actors, entrepreneurs and politicians all have mentors. So should you. Find someone in your upline who is successful, accessible, and willing to help. Once you find that person, humble yourself enough to shut up and listen to them. Be a good student and follow their lead. Do what they tell you to do. They have a vested interest in helping you succeed in your business. Having a mentor is vital to your long-term success in the industry.
# 10 Be Consistent
This is probably the most important tip on this page. To succeed in this business, you need to be persistent and consistent. You can’t keep starting and stopping. You need to show up every day. If your mouth isn’t open, your business isn’t open. Set regular business hours for your network marketing business. Work your business every single day so you can create the habit of doing it. The real key to success is to be persistent and consistent every day, for two to five years, if you want to build a big business.
