Today, I want to share 10 simple things you can do to advance your MLM Business this year.

If you’re like most network marketers, you feel stuck in a rut. Your business has either plateaued or is dying a quick death. You’re frustrated, losing money, don’t have enough prospects, and simply don’t know what to do. If that describes you, this information is for you.

What you see below are simple, practical things YOU can do, even on a tight budget and restricted time schedule, to move your business forward this year.  I hope you find the information helpful.

# 1: Evaluate Your Efforts

The first thing you need to do is be honest with yourself. Go somewhere quiet for an hour or two and look at your calendar for the past 90 to 180 days. Ask yourself the following questions:

  1. How many prospects have I talked to, on average, everyday for the past 6 months?
  2. How many presentations have I given during that time?
  3. How many people have I sponsored?
  4. Have I attended the company and team’s events and meetings?
  5. How many hours per week have I focused on income producing activities?
  6. What am I do that is working well?
  7. What am I doing that is NOT working well?
  8. What am I not doing that I SHOULD be doing?
  9. Am I plugged with my active upline mentor?
  10. Am I working smart and making the best use of my time?

You can lie to someone else, but do not lie to yourself. Be honest with yourself. Evaluate everything you are doing and figure out where you need to make the necessary adjustments. Chances are, you already know where you are coming up short.

Once you’ve evaluated yourself in each of these areas, write out an action plan you can follow to move forward with your business.

# 2: Increase Your Activity

The fastest way to advance your MLM Business is to increase your activity. If you’ve been prospecting two people per day, start prospecting 10 people per day. If you’ve been giving 10 presentations a month, start doing 15 to 20 presentations per month.

The fastest way to double or triple your commission check is to double or triple your efforts.

# 3: Create a Daily Mode of Operations

The next thing you can do to advance your MLM Business is to write out a daily mode of operations. This is nothing more than a checklist of what you will do each day to advance your MLM Business.

What I like to do each night before I go to bed is to take out a blank index card and write down FIVE things I want to do to grow my business the following day. I then prioritize these tasks, putting a # 1 next to the most important tasks. I strive to do the tasks in order of importance the following day.

An example daily mode of operations is:

  • Connect with three prospects on Facebook and invite them to a presentation
  • Text two people about my business
  • Meet 2 new prospects face-to-face during lunch break
  • Follow up with two people
  • Ask 1 person to order a product

Write down your daily mode of operations EVERY SINGLE DAY and NEVER ever let a day go by where you didn’t do everything on your list.

# 4: Plan Out Your Week Each Week

Get a day planner and plan out your week, just like you do for your job and family life. Every Sunday night take 30-minutes and plan out what you are going to do each day for your business.

How many hours are you going to work? On what days will you work? What activities will you do when you work? If you don’t plan it, it won’t happen.

Also, plan out time for family commitments, time to exercise, and any other responsibilities you might have.  Once you’ve identified your family and work commitments, you can block off time for your MLM Business. An hour here, 30-minutes there, and 45-minutes there is all you need.

Having a plan is more than half the battle. The other half of the battle is to have the daily discipline to do the things you know you should be doing each day.

# 5: Improve Your Skills

Skills pay the bills. Take the time, effort and money to improve your skills. What skills should you improve?

  1. Lead generation
  2. Leadership
  3. Communication
  4. Presenting
  5. Following-up
  6. Selling
  7. Launching new reps
  8. Promoting events

I’d start with those basic skills. Read books, watch YouTube videos, find a mentor, attend events and enroll in automobile university. Spend at least 15 to 30-minutes per day improving your skills.

Keep in mind, you will learn MORE by DOING than you will by studying something. Don’t make the mistake of learning all these new things, but never putting them into practice.

# 6: Fill Up Your Pipeline

You need to have a full prospect pipeline at all times. You should always have 30-50 people you are following up with that are going through your recruiting process. By having a full pipeline, you are no longer emotionally attached to the decision of one specific person.

Add at least 5 new prospects to your pipeline daily, minimum six days per week. Don’t worry about who buys or signs up right away.

It takes the average person 7 to 20 follow ups before they buy or join. If you’re always adding new people to your pipeline, you will sign up new distributors and customers every week.

# 7: Be Accountable to Someone

If you want to advance your MLM Business, it’s important to stay accountable to someone other than yourself. Ideally, you want to plug in to your sponsor, your mentor, a crossline friend, or one of your serious team members. Be accountability partners. Check in with each other every day and hold each other accountable.

This is similar to having a gym buddy. When you have a gym buddy, you are much more likely to go to the gym every day and complete your scheduled training BECAUSE you have someone else holding your feet to the fire. On the other hand, if you try to go it alone, it’s pretty easy to come up with excuses and not do what you wanted to do.

# 8: Set Daily Goals

The next thing you can do to advance your MLM Business is to set daily goals for your business. While yearly and monthly goals are beneficial, I think daily goals are much more effective.

This should be part of your daily mode of operations. What are the big one or two goals you want to achieve that day? Keep in mind that when you are setting goals you should only set goals for things you can control.

The best type of goals to set are:

  1. How many people will you add to your pipeline?
  2. How many people will you approach?
  3. How many people will you follow up with?

If all you did was set daily goals for those three categories, everything else in your business would fall into place.

# 9: Track Your Progress

If you don’t track it, you can’t improve it. I’m a numbers guy. I keep an active spreadsheet to track how many people I connect with, how many people get added to my pipeline, how many people see a presentation, and how many people buy my products or join my opportunity.

I also track my business growth each month and compare it to the previous month and against the same month the previous year. This gives me the “big picture outtake” of my business and visualizes my growth and progress.

I suggest you come up with some type of simple tracking mechanism (I use MS Excel) and keep accurate numbers of everything you do. That way you can discover your success ratio, see your growth, and have a real time assessment of how you are doing.

# 10: Do a 90-Day Challenge

I saved the best tip for last. The single best thing you can do to advance your MLM Business is to do a 90-Day Blitz. This is when you compress your success time-frame by going ALL IN for a 90-Day period of time.

You do more in 90-days than most people do in their career. You 10x your activity and create rapid growth, excitement and momentum in your business.

You won’t be able to maintain this breakneck pace forever, but if you do it right, this will PROPEL your business to big things. At the end of the 90-days, you can revert to slower and steadier pace.

Bonus Tip: Be Consistent

Starting and stopping is the kiss of death in this business. You must be CONSISTENT if you want success in your business. You need to do SOMETHING to grow your business every single day.

Every time you take a day off, you go three steps back. Create a work schedule you can follow and NEVER miss a day. Being persistent and consistent is the key to success in this industry!

    I believe goal setting is a huge factor, and writing them down is ultra-important. As part of a business plan, setting goals should be a priority. I believe in both long term and short term goals. Personally, I have yearly goals, monthly goals and daily goals.

    I also love the car decal, or other forms of advertisement you listed. I think shirts and hats are a great way to advertise also, and very cost effective. I do think that a blog or website is also a good move. If done properly, they can help grow a network marketing business too.
