How to Find an Accountability Partner

You should start with your sponsor. Ask them if they want to do it with you. In most cases, your sponsor will not be serious or committed to their business, so you might need to look elsewhere. If that’s not an option, you can reach out to the one or two most serious people in your team. Find people who are equally committed to their business and see if they want to do this with you. Another option is to find someone crossline from you.

To be honest, it doesn’t matter WHO your accountability partner is, if you are both committed and both willing to help, encourage, and support each other. The most important thing is to find someone you can trust, who you can get along with, and who you respect.

The primary benefit of having an accountability partner is added motivation. When you work at home, all by yourself, and face constant rejection from prospects, it’s easy to get unmotivated. Having someone to encourage you who goes through the same things that you’re going through helps a lot.

# 2: Feedback & Encouragement

Number two is feedback and encouragement. You will have someone who can give you open and honest feedback about your performance. This is incredibly valuable. They can also encourage you when you are feeling down or stressed out.

# 3: Increased Productivity

The third and most important benefit is increased productivity. By having someone help keep you motivated and consistent, while providing ongoing feedback and encouragement, your productivity should soar through the roof.

There are many other benefits, too, but these are the big ones.

Tips for Success

If you want your relationship to work with your accountability partner, you must establish a regular communication schedule. Perhaps you chat daily for five minutes every evening at 9 pm. Or you have an open Facebook chat where you can talk several times during the day. Do what works best for you. Just pick a schedule and stick to it.

Next, you must hold each other accountable in a friendly way. You need to be empathetic and understanding, but also firm and fair. You want to encourage them without being too hard on them.

My last tip is to set specific goals with your accountability partner. Have two or three daily goals you each do every day and share your progress every day with them. This will keep you both on track!
