2017 Year in Review for OnlineMLMCommunity.com and My MLM Business

Welcome to my 2017 year in review for my OnlineMLMCommunity.com blog and MLM Business.   It has been a whirlwind year, filled with ups and down, and lots of excitement.  I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Looking back, this has been the best year EVER in my business.  My income grew.  I created new income streams.  I met some great new friends.  And, I learned a lot of valuable lessons that I know will move my business forward in 2018 and beyond.

I’d like to take a few moments and share my 2017 year in review.  I don’t write any of this to brag.  Instead, I like to be transparent with my audience and show people what is working and what isn’t working in my business.  That way, you can learn from my successes and failures. Enjoy!

2017 Website Stats

What a year for my blog!  My traffic exploded this year, which is why I made more money and added so many new people to my email list.  Here are my stats.

Website Traffic

  • We had 725,537 total visitors in 2017 compared to 486,035 in 2016 (49% growth)
  • We had 585,861 unique visitors in 2017 compared to 385,449 in 2016 (52% growth)
  • We had 986,817 page views in 2017 compared to 668,951 in 2016 (48% growth)
  • We averaged 1,987.8 visitors per day in 2017 compared to 1,331.6 visitors per day in 2016 (49% growth)
  • We averaged 1,605.1 unique visitors per day in 2017 compared to 1,056 in 2016 (52% growth)
  • We averaged 2,703.7 page views per day in 2017 compared to 1,832.7 in 2016 (48% growth)

These stats are from my Google Analytics account and can easily be verified.   About 95% of my traffic was free traffic from social media, email marketing, and the search engines.  Over the past five years, my website, on average, grows by about 40 to 50 percent each year.

Business Stats

In this section, I will cover most of my income streams and things I think you might find interesting.

# 1 Podcasts

In 2017, I published 65 new podcasts and had 30,177 total views/downloads.  After putting a lot of thought into it, I will no longer publish any additional podcasts.  Yes, I enjoy doing them, but I don’t see them giving me enough return on my time investment.  They don’t generate many new leads or sales, so I am going to focus on my written content instead.

# 2 Facebook Mastermind Group

I grew my private MLM Mastermind Group of Facebook from 1,298 members in 2016 to 1,365 members in 2017.  This is something else I will more than likely get rid of in 2018.  For the amount of time it takes to update and maintain, I don’t see it as a good return on my time investment.  I’ll probably close out the group in the spring or outsource it to a virtual assistant.  I have made a lot of good connections in the group, but I don’t see it helping the bottom line of my business very much.

# 3 Avon Business

I started selling Avon again in late 2017.  I am doing it 100% online through my blog.  My primary focus in retailing, although I have signed up a few people as reps.  I see it as an affiliate program and I believe it will be a good fit for my website.  Only time will tell.  My goal is to build a customer base of 20 loyal, repeat customers in 2018, and turn it into a $500 per month affiliate income.  You can shop my Avon store here.

# 4 New Marketing System

I started using Power Lead System in September 2017.  It has been a HUGE asset for my blog and network marketing business.  I wish I would have learned about it sooner.  It is an online marketing system with custom capture pages and auto-responders.  There is also a great community and tons of great training.  You can use it to promote any affiliate offer or business opportunity.  I have done very well with their affiliate program and see it being one of my top THREE income streams in 2018.  The “system” has also helped me grow ALL of my other businesses.

# 5 Natural & Organic Products

I joined a “green” company in June, so I could offer natural, toxic-free and organic products to my audience.  This is a huge movement in our society.  Although I am not 100% passionate about going green, I know millions of people are.  This company has some great products.  I really love their shampoo, reds, toothpaste and laundry detergent.  I see this business as a slow build for me, but a good steady “long term” income.  I sponsored 35 people into this program in 2017 and grew a team to 90 people (in 6 months).  You can read my success story with the company here.

# 6 I Resigned from a Company

I had to make a painful decision to resign from a company this past year.  For the first six months of 2017, I worked really hard with this company and went from 0 to 1,000 people in about 6 months.  Due to some unforeseen things, I resigned my position in June.  I lost TWO significant income streams with this company (my account and my wife’s), but I learned a lot from the experience and rebounded.

# 7 I Published a New Book

I released a new book this past year titled “How to Find the Right Network Marketing Company”. It’s available for purchase on Amazon.  This will probably be the last book I ever write and publish. I just enjoy blogging a lot more.  It was fun to write and has been selling pretty well.  You can order a copy of it here.

# 8 Elite Marketing Pro

I have been with this company since 2009.  It is one of my most consistent income streams, year after year.  Almost everything I know about online marketing I learned from these guys. This is an affiliate program, and business in a box.  You can promote their affiliate products or system.  For $297 per year, you can be an annual member and earn 40% commissions, which are great.  For about $3,000 you can become a VIP member like I am and earn 90% commissions.  Learn more about it here.

# 9 Blog Content

In 2017, we published 166 new blog posts.  My friend, Greg Boudonck, did a lot of the writing.  I really appreciate him.  He adds a ton of value to my blog.  In 2018, I am going to step it up a notch and hire several additional writers and produce even more content.  I’m losing my desire to write every single day, and it will be nice to be an editor for a year.

# 10 Get Paid to Shop

One of my former mentors reached out to me about a new online shopping platform where you can get paid to shop at your favorite stores.  This includes stores such as Burger King, Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot, eBay and hundreds of other stores.  Not only can you get paid to shop, but you can also get paid on up to 15 levels of referrals. I found the idea interesting, so I checked it out.  It’s free to join and use.  No auto-ship.  No overpriced products.  I joined on November 2, 2017 and have built a team of approximately 250 people in 2 months.  I see myself with a team of 3,000 to 5,000 people by the end of 2018.  You can learn more about it here.

2017 year in review# 11 Leads

My biggest achievement of 2017 was the amount of leads I generated.  I have optimized website to be a lead generation machine.

TOTAL: 13,215 leads

About 80% of these leads were generated for free through my blog.

# 12 Why Chuck, Why?

I’ve had a lot of people ask me why I promote more than one program.  My answer is always the same.  My blog and email list are my real business, not any specific MLM Company.  I like to diversify my income AND I like to have several different things to offer my website visitors.  It doesn’t mean I’m not serious about any of these opportunities, because I promote more than one thing.  I am serious about ALL of these opportunities.  I simply do not want all my eggs in one basket.  I hope you can understand.

# 13 Audience by Country

Here is a breakdown of my website visitors by country.  I thought you might find this interesting.

  2. India
  3. Canada
  4. Philippines
  5. United Kingdom
  6. Malaysia
  7. Australia
  8. Nigeria

Personal Life

2017 was a great year for my personal life.

I did a lot of traveling, reading, writing and relaxing.  I got to wake up every day when I wanted to and go to bed when I wanted to.

In 2017, I did put on some weight.  It’s a bit embarrassing.  Since working from home for the past five years, I’ve gained about 35 to 40 pounds.  I’ve become fat.  Getting back in shape and losing the weight is my # 1 goal for 2018.  My wife and I are working together to both get healthy again.  We’re not doing any fad diets.  Instead, we’re making some serious lifestyle changes (eat right and exercise more).

I visited Maine this past October to spend time with my mom and dad to go bird hunting. It was a blast to get out in the wilderness for a few days.

Rachel and I also went on a road trip to Georgia to see our favorite niece graduate college, and to go thrift shopping.  That was a ton of fun.

Finally, our eBay business grew a lot this year.  My wife pretty much runs that business by herself now while I focus on the websites.  We hope to grow our eBay business by 25% in 2018.

  1. Thanks for the nice statement about my writing Chuck.

Truth be told, my best client will always be Charles Holmes.

Chuck is level-headed, a go-getter and one of the most helpful mentors I have ever had in my life.

If you want a top-notch sponsor, Chuck’s the man!

      1. I came across your blog by chance, as I have made a decision to fund my car from extra income. I am really glad I came by as I learned a lot from here. Your writing are honest and true, not the wishy washy blogs all over the net.
